Common Sense

Wrapping up the week…

closing thoughts

Andrew Cuomo is still top news, but he is also still the Governor.
Why is the news leaking out now, drip by drip? Answer:
As the fear factor falls, critics and whistleblowers are emboldened. There’s a lot of dirty laundry that people were previously afraid to share. More to come for sure. But, he is a Democrat, in NY, and will survive.

The Border crisis deepens.
People are dying and virus cases found, why is the story not front and center on every newscast? Answer: See who is President and what party is in control.
The news media is the problem.
Now, why aren’t Republican leaders and politicians rushing to immigration detention centers, like what the Democrats did to complain about treatment of children and families? Remember the false stories and charges? This is real.
When is a border crisis only a “challenge?”
When we change administrations in the way the media likes is the answer.

How come the Democrats always stick together and the Republicans can’t?
Yesterday the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee voted to advance the nomination of Rep. Deb Haaland to head the Interior Department. They avoided a deadlock after Sen. Lisa Murkowski, Alaska Republican, crossed party lines to support President Biden’s pick. The vote 11-9.
Do you remember when it went the other way? Is that good party discipline for the Democrats or is that dangerous for the nation?

Read this CBO (Congressional Budget Office) report on an issue we talked about this week a few times. The bill we are passing to your children and grandchildren.
The government has opened the spending spigot over the last year to deal with the coronavirus crisis — but the Congressional Budget Office says unless something changes, Uncle Sam’s freewheeling ways will last long after the pandemic is over.
In a long-term budget report Thursday, the analysts at the government’s official scorekeeper said that by the middle of this century, federal spending will top 30% of gross domestic product, a rate the U.S. has never sustained before.
But taxes won’t keep pace, and 41 cents of every $1 spent will be borrowed in 2050, the CBO said. Debt also will reach deep into unprecedented territory, reaching more than twice the size of GDP, unless something changes.
Interest payments alone will total $61 trillion over the next 30 years and by 2051 will eat up nearly half of federal revenue. As borrowing intensifies, government debt held by the public will be more than twice the size of the economy as measured by GDP.
And persistent high debt brings “significant risks” to the country, CBO said.
“It would increase the risk of a fiscal crisis — that is, a situation in which investors lose confidence in the U.S. government’s ability to service and repay its debt, causing interest rates to increase abruptly, inflation to spiral upward, or other disruptions.”

Did you see this covered in the media? The press is the problem.

On the virus, the same people who told us Cuomo, Newsom and Whitmer were the heroes and DeSantis, Abbott and Noem were the problem, and were proven wrong, are now telling us again those latter governors are the problem by opening up. Guess what? The media is listening again and supporting them.
Do they ever step back and try to be fair? I guess not. If you can fool the people for your cause, why not keep doing it?
With that in mind here’s a cartoon to close out the week:

have a great weekend. cancel the cancel culture.

Trying to understand…

new york’s governor:

Andrew Cuomo will not resign, I can promise you that, and why should he? Look at Va. Governor Northham.
In the world of cancel culture, the Virginia Democratic Governor survived black face – even after first denying it.
So why should Cuomo resign?
He won’t be impeached for the nursing home deaths or sexual encounters.
He said yesterday:
“I now understand that I acted in a way that made people feel uncomfortable. It was unintentional and I truly and deeply apologize for it. I feel awful about it and frankly, I’m embarrassed by it, and that’s not easy to say. But that’s the truth.”

He now understands that asking someone to play “strip poker”, or kissing them on the lips, or touching their back and faces, as you saw, was wrong. Aren’t we lucky he now understands. He won an Emmy before he understood. He wrote a book on how to act and manage before he understood.
Think of what he can do now.

Some of us have long understood he was an arrogant, self centered individual.
Having said that, let me ask this. In the blue state NY, are you sure he can’t win again?
I’m not.

the cancel culture vultures:

Gannett newspapers across the country cancelled the conservative cartoon Mallard Fillmore; after all, a conservative view.
They did so over two strips critical of President Biden and transgender participation in women’s sports.

The first cartoon depicted President Biden  musing:
“For too long, segregation sullied women’s sports … They were restricted to women! Thank goodness those dark days are over.”

In the second President Biden says:
“I hear what you, the American people, want me to do … kill fossil-fuel jobs … devalue Americans’ labor … and help more transgender athletes beat the *@!# out of biological females.”

That folks will get you cancelled in this era. Think of the Trump cartoons, ever hear of anyone getting cancelled then?

How is cancel doing?
Books by Dr. Seuss occupied nine of the top-10 sales positions on Amazon as of Wednesday afternoon.
This follows 48 hours of discord for the late author following a public determination that some of his material was “racist.”

The top five books on Amazon: No. 1 were “The Cat in the Hat,” followed by “Green Eggs and Ham,” “Oh, the Places You’ll Go,” “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” and the “Dr. Seuss Beginner Book Collection.”

Crazy? I agree. Will we vote for change in 2022?
Well the Democrats (unanimously) passed H.R. 1 (as in number one) yesterday to make 2020 voting rules the norm. That means mailing out ballots, etc. No Republican supported this. They say you need to show ID to vote.
It goes to the senate now.
Your vote counts.

the border is in chaos:

Well, I said chaos.
The administration said it is a “challenge”.

Whatever you call it, can someone please report the facts?
In 2016, 17 and 18, the Democrats refused to work with President Trump on any solution. He did it alone and got support from the Mexican President. It was under control.

As part of his executive order signing President Biden created this “challenge” and mess.
Consider this:
You know that accident that killed so many in the van? You know how they got across the border? They used a hole in the wall. You know, the wall we stopped building because it was bad? Well people have now died because of it.
The left has always been free with things like “Bush lied, people died.” Well people are dying here. Is it now, Biden created a challenge and people perished?
Why the silence?
And while on that subject, we are so concerned with masks and stopping the virus spread, right?
How come 6% crossing are testing positive and yet released into the country? Hello!

By the way, where did those coming to cross the border get the Biden shirts?

Here’s where the $1.9 Trillion goes to states

Remember we told you the formula was based upon unemployment, so the states that closed are rewarded and those that kept businesses going are losers?
Well here’s the chart from “The Committee To Unleash Prosperity.”

SOME RATING NEWS

Former PresidentDonald Trump’s speech at CPAC pulled in the network’s highest ratings ever for a Sunday — 5.7 million people tuned in.

Fox News again won the cable competition last week.
They were No. 1 in both the daytime and nighttime hours.
Fox News prime-time audience of 2.5 million viewers, was followed by MSNBC with 1.9 million, CNN (1.2 million), ESPN (1.1 million) and HGTV (1 million).

have a great day. cancel the cancel culture.

Wondering again…

wondering today

I was wondering, with Texas and Mississippi open completely, joining Iowa and Montana who have already released mask requirements,  added to Massachusetts who have eliminated restaurant capacities,  plus South Carolina allowing gatherings of up to 250 people, why do others like California still has schools closed?
Is there any connection between all those other than the six opening have Governors of the same party and California a Democrat?

I was wondering as I heard the left media saying that the states opening are moving way too fast and wrong. I was wondering, since these were the same people telling me that Cuomo and Newsom were right, while DeSantis and Abbott were wrong, if maybe they are wrong again.
Was Cuomo, the hero and book writer, right and DeSantis wrong?
How come NY had the highest death rate in the nation?

I was wondering if the stories coming out of Michigan that the Governor there is covering up nursing home deaths, too, is true. The stories say she followed the Cuomo lead and model. Did she?
We need to know. After all she was hero three (with Cuomo and Newsom).

I was wondering how come the Golden Globes ratings were down so much. Viewership was 6.9 million people this year, compared to 18.3 million in 2020. (Just for the record they had 18.6 million in 2019 and 19 million in 2018.)
So why was it down? The left said it was because of the Covid.
Oh. Let me understand, people are stuck at home and that’s why the TV rating was down? I see.
I think there may be another reason, you?

I was wondering when I read that Volvo said it would be 100% electric cars by 2030, when all the charging stations would be up since GM, Ford and others were saying the same. Add that cities like Petaluma, California, have voted to outlaw new gas stations and you understand the urgency.

I was wondering what the reaction would have been if the Trump White House had implemented the new policy of charging the White House press $170 per Covid test to access the White House.  Wouldn’t they have said it was another attempt to bar a free press?
While on that topic, I was wondering how they are letting President Biden get away with no press conference or even answering questions. Add, no State Of The Union Speech. How is that possible there is no outcry?

have a great day and keep wondering too.

Issues on my mind today…

issue one – cancel culture

Now they want to boycott the Hyatt Hotel Chain because they allowed the C-Pac convention at it. Think about that, a hotel chain allowed a conference.
There are major Hollywood stars out front on this (actresses Debra Messing and Rosanna Arquette are two).
This, after the Dr. Seuss cancellations this week.
Now, if you support this, or remain silent, you are part of the problem and when they come for you, who will speak up?
If businesses like Hyatt can’t rent their space, the reason they are in business, then where does it end?
Enough already.

issue two – the rule of law

So the senate parliamentarian ruled any inclusion of the minimum wage increase in the stimulus bill is against the rules. End of discussion? Need to find another way for that objective? Well not if you’re on the left today.
Here’s Bernie on that issue:
“My own view is that we should ignore the rulings, the decision of the parliamentarian.”
Don’t like a rule or law, just ignore it; but I’m sure Bernie and the left mean that only for the ones they approve.

issue three – the border problem

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, watching the U.S.-Mexico border situation spiral downward, blamed his Trump predecessors.
Wait, the border was out of the news for a year. Congress had failed to work with President Trump to find a solution. He worked out an agreement with Mexico. You and the new administration cancelled it. Now Trump caused the problem?
If you believe that, then I assume you are for the two things above too. If you do, then I think you are part of the problem.

issue four – warren proposes wealth tax

So let’s see, the proposal is to take a big step to socialism. We’ll put a wealth tax of 2% of their wealth on those with $50 million dollars of wealth; and 3% on those with a billion.
To those who don’t understand history, government and spending it probably sounds good. Who cares, right?
Well every tax started at high levels and just edged ever lower. If you think this won’t be the same, you are not thinking.
Second, the government gets more money, what do you think they will do with it? Reduce the deficit? Pay down debt? Balance the budget? No, no and no. They will do what the government always does, spend it and then say it needs more.
If you don’t understand this, then check out the history of taxes and how socialist countries came to be.
What happened to those countries? They went belly up. Why? As Margaret Thatcher said,”eventually you run out of other’s peoples money.”
If you don’t know that I revert back to the question:
“When they come for you who be there to support you?”

time to stand up.

What If?

so what if?

Regardless of how you feel about the $1.9 trillion dollar stimulus plan you have to realize that adding that debt to the $2.6 trillion stimulus from 2020, we are passing on an incredible debt to future generations. In fact the full year 2020 deficit is estimated to be $4.7 trillion.

So here’s what I am thinking and want to ask:
In a nation where today we are tearing down statues because we are judging yesterday’s heroes by today’s standards, where we are considering paying reparations for past actions, where the only judgement is what we think today, a question:

What if, when that future generation has to pay the bill, they decide that we supported our today at the their expense?
What if they decide today’s leaders cared only about their well being and passed the bill on, causing them the opportunity to do what they need and want?
What if that future generation of Americans is so frustrated by what they can’t do, that they demand reparations from the future off spring of today’s Americans?
Would it be right of them to ask our children to pay the bill so the rest of them can live better?
By today’s standards wouldn’t that be the norm?

Which raises additional questions for me:
Is the $1.9 trillion an absolute necessity?
Are the funds not Covid related justified? How would we explain them away?
Does anyone care about balancing the budget and maybe beginning to pay back the debt?
If we ask most people to spend the inheritances they want to leave behind, they would react angrily and say no. What do they think they are doing supporting government spending as they do?

What will they say about us?

think about it

A Weekend Check…

president trump at cpac:

The former President emerges on Sunday to speak at this conference. What he should say is:
It’s time for us to move past 2020 and what divides us as a party to the future. It’s time for us to unite and put the heat on the socialist programs the left is bringing to our nation. It’s time for us – together – to unite and save our heritage and future.
For my part, I have learned a lot. I came into 2016 having never run for office and fought back with vehemence against opponents and an unfair press.
My promise is I will keep fighting by your side and never deviate from our principles, but I will adjust the tone.
We all live and learn, and we have too much at stake and to offer the nation not to do so.
Now what will he say? If he reverts back to he was cheated and personal attacks, he will have missed the moment.
I am betting he does.

in the news:

Yesterday, acting U.S. Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman at the Jan. 6th inquiry hearing said that the government was aware that armed extremists were planning mayhem at the Capitol, but the intelligence grossly underestimated the scope of the attack.
Okay, I say again, they knew and impeached President Trump for inciting it with his speech. Why isn’t the media holding Speaker Pelosi to task on this?

President Biden ordered a bombing on the Syria border to answer Iran’s terrorist activity. It caught most people by surprise. I wonder how John Kerry felt about the act.
Anyway, when President Trump in 2017 bombed them in Syria, here’s what Jen Psaki said:
”What is the legal authority for strikes? Assad is a brutal dictator. But Syria is a sovereign country.”
Now I supported Trump’s action then and Biden’s now. That makes me consistent.
Watch Psakii tell us today why it was wrong then and right now. Same as housing kids in the same building today is right, but under Trump was an outrageous act.
Where’s the press on this?

When asking about contradictions how about the left on Andrew Cuomo?
We all remember their righteousness of totally discredited charges against Brett Kavanaugh. In fact, a lawyer is in jail with his false witness.
So where are they now?
Well Cuomo’s home state senators, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, have refused to criticize him over the renewed allegations that he sexually harassed a female aide.
Senator Gillibrand said, “I have not read her allegations.” Really?
It’s one page long and you sure read and said a lot about others. Do you only read things about people you don’t like?
Where is Hawaii Senator Hirono and her men should “just shut up and step up?”
Hypocrites.
Where is the press calling them on this?

The House Parliamentarian ruled yesterday that the $15 minimum wage could not be included in the $1.9 Trillion Dollar Covid Program. Now, I think this can revert back to the states. As an example, Florida voted 61% for a $15 minimum wage last November, at the same time they voted for Donald Trump. That wage seems right for Florida, while North Dakota might decide $12 is right for it.
The federal government should set a base, say $10.00, and let the states go from there.
Now the left is not in board with this.
Rep. Ilhan Omar said we should “fire the Parliamentarian,” since the Democrats have “a majority and should be able to do what we want.”
So a 50/50 senate, and a House where if five seats change hands would be reversed, to her means they should do everything they want. Imagine if this were four years ago and we had a Republican majority, would she say the same?

Let’s close with a quote that may well apply here. It’s from P.J. O’Rourke: “Giving money and power to  government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys. “

Each Day I….

“Each day I always think I’ve heard it all, and each day following surprises me.”

The quote above came from a loyal reader yesterday, and isn’t it oh so true!
With that let’s see what surprises us today.

this can’t be real – can it?

The Biden’s administration has reopened the temporary Influx Care Facility in Carrizo Springs, Texas to care for children? The SAME ONE where they said that “Trump was keeping kids in cages?” Yes, that one.
WAIT, how can that be? Wasn’t it so cruel and inhumane? Where’s the outrage? Where are the pictures?
The Biden team said they need a temporary housing place for kids and to protect them from adults. DUH!!! Wasn’t that the same reason the Trump administration did it for a month? Unaccompanied children at the border?

No coverage in the MSM? Of course not. The press is the problem.

And this is just the beginning of immigration issues with the ill considered immigration Executive Order to stop all the Trump administration was doing.

By the way, a federal court in Texas issued an injunction today against President Biden’s 100-day deportation pause. They said the Inauguration Day decision was too rash and the new administration has failed to justify it.

Oh really

Remember the NYT story that so widely reported and accepted that Officer Sicknick was killed by the rioters who hit hime with a fire extinguisher at the Capital?

Well in an interview, his Mother (Gladys) said it wasn’t true.
Not true? Wait the NYT broke it. How could it not be true?
She said, he may have suffered a fatal stroke, but unequivocally denied that he was killed due to being bludgeoned by a fire extinguisher.
Pretty sad isn’t it?
The same NYT whose reporters won Pulitzers for breaking the false Russian Collusion story. Another false NYT story? Can it be?

She also noted that though it’s been more than a month since the riot, the family still remains in the dark about key details. “He wasn’t hit on the head, no,” she said. “We think he had a stroke, but we don’t know anything for sure. We’d love to know what happened.”

The press is the problem.

wait now, didn’t we impeach for inciting?

Yesterday was the first congressional hearing on what happened Jan 6th. We’ve asked here since that day, where was the security?
Of course Pelosi, her team and Senate Democrats didn’t wait.
They impeached the President for inciting the crowd that day. They were judge and jury without finding out the facts.
Yesterday we heard this:
All three of the former top officials responsible for security on Capitol Hill testified today that they didn’t get the FBI memo warning of violence and “war” on Jan. 6.
The three, Sund, Irving and former Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Stenger, all resigned after the insurrection.

Wait, read that again. The top security officials say they were not warned.

Former U.S. Capitol Police Chief Sund said a member of the intelligence division at USCP did review the memo, but that “it didn’t go any further than that.”

He clashed with former House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving over the timing of asking for National Guard assistance.

Sund says he asked for National Guard assistance at 1:09 pm, but that Irving did not approve the assistance until 2:10pm.

Irving says he has no recollection of receiving the request for approval until after 2 pm. Hmm, “no recollection.” Where have I heard that before?
The chief of D.C.’s police department, Robert Contee, blamed the Pentagon for the slow response. “I was stunned at the response from the Department of the Army,” he said.

In the end all the top officials responsible for the security of the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 attack told a congressional panel on Tuesday that faulty intelligence hampered their ability to prepare for the day and riot.

Got that? And we impeached Donald Trump for the day! Fair?

Here’s the Washington Post headline today. Wait, I thought it was Donald Trump?

that jan. 6 Commission Pelosi wants

Yesterday we told you that Nancy Pelosi wants a commission to investigate (and I assume blame the former President of) 7 Democrats and 4 Republicans. We said that sounded unfair.
There has been pushback. Here’s a story about the 9-11 commission that proves we once had morals. It’s from Politicio, no right wing fan:

When Republican TOM KEAN became head of the 9/11 Commission, he got a call from TIM RUSSERT asking him to come on “Meet the Press.” Kean said he’d only appear if his Democratic counterpart on the commission, LEE HAMILTON, were invited too.

Russert balked, so Kean — believing the only way for the commission to work was for it to look and act completely bipartisan — told him to “find someone else.” Russert called him back five minutes later and relented. And the commission, which was split evenly between Republicans and Democrats, went on to become one of the most praised instances of bipartisan oversight in modern history.

Here we are twenty years later, Speaker NANCY PELOSI is calling for a “9/11-style” commission to investigate Jan. 6. But instead of equal representation, Pelosi’s initial recommendation is for the panel to be made up of seven Democratic-appointed members and four Republican-appointed ones.

That would be a mistake, the leaders of the original commission, Kean and Hamilton, told Playbook. Republican voters will never accept the findings if there’s even a whiff of the investigation being driven by Democrats.

“That does not sound to me like a good start; it sounds like a partisan beginning,” Hamilton told us. Kean echoed that, warning that “unless you have equal representation … the report won’t have as much confidence from the American people. It won’t be as reliable.”

Have you heard this in the MSM? Of course not. It’s the press folks.

and to limit what you do hear

Democrats, led by Reps. Anna G. Eshoo and Jerry Mc-Nerney, both California Democrats, blasted off a letter this week to major cable providers such as Comcast, Verizon and Cox and to digital companies including Roku, Apple and Hulu.
The letters asked the companies what they have done to prevent misinformation and lies from being aired on their platforms.

“Are you planning to continue carrying Fox News, OANN and Newsmax on your platform both now and beyond the renewal date?” they wrote. “If so, why?”

They want these news outlets taken off the air! Do you think those stations are the issue? I think it’s the MSM, but not them.

they do this under cover of no coverage

While they demand that, the ratings for last week have come out and:
Fox News dominated last week during daytime and prime-time viewing.
This from the offical source, Nielsen Media Research.
Fox had a peak audience of 2.5 million viewers. MSNBC followed with 1.9 million and CNN with 1.6 million.

Now consider this. Joe Biden got 81 million votes, right?
Well he held a Town Hall last week on CNN. How did the ratings go?

“Tucker Carlson Tonight” delivered the highest-rated cable news program in all categories with 3.5 million viewers — besting CNN’s heavily promoted town hall with Mr. Biden.
Sean Hannity held second place with 3.1 million viewers for his nightly hour.

What happened to those 81 million? Why didn’t they watch?

Did you hear this news in the MSM? Why not? Its the press folks.

let’s see what today brings.

“Too Much?” Then “tell me…”

the presidential challenge

Think about this. President Trump stands up and says of a program he supports, “Tell me what to take out.” What would the Democrats led by Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and a host of others have done?
They would have been before every camera with indignation, sarcasm and “advice.” Can’t you hear the words, “PRESIDENT TRUMP, YOU ASKED, WELL HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN CHANGE ….”

Okay, yesterday President Biden said if you think the $1.9 trillion plan is too much, what should we take out? Since the estimates of the spending toward Covid ranges from 9 to 20% in it, where are the Republicans?
Where is their leadership challenging the bridge in Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco? The bridge in Schumer’s NY?
Where is their indignation asking how $270 million to the National Endowments is justified, when their full year budget is $253 million?
Or, $200 million to The Institute of Museum and Library Services (budget: $230 million). This agency is so small that it doesn’t even employ an inspector general.
Why aren’t they shouting from the rooftops this fact:
There is $350 billion to bailout the 50 States and the District of Columbia. The allocation formula uses the unemployment rate in the fourth quarter of 2020. Therefore, states like New York and California –who had strict economic lockdown policies will get bailout money. States like Florida and South Dakota – who were open for business – will get less. Where is the “THIS IS UNFAIR” yelling?

The list is long since less than 10% of the $1.9 trillion is for public health (you can look it up). Yet, the Republican leadership just doesn’t know how to play the Schumer game. Have you heard Mitch McConnell out front on this?

the administration

Interesting news from the hearings and administration yesterday:

Attorney-general nominee Merrick Garland said investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot would be his first priority if confirmed. Again, I ask why was this riot/protest more important than what we had all summer and fall?

He also sidestepped questions about the Russian collusion probe and Hunter Biden’s business dealings.

He said he hadn’t thought if crossing the border illegally was okay or not? Hadn’t thought about? You are about to become A.G.

He did think about guns. He said he would advance Mr. Biden’s gun control measures if confirmed as attorney general.
I have an idea on guns for you both.
You want to control, tax and collect some guns from lawful citizens. How about this idea. Add time (consecutive time, not concurrent) to anyone using a gun in an unlawful act. Double that time if the gun was illegal. How about those committing wrong paying and not the lawful citizen?

Janet Yellen also spoke yesterday. Here’s a quote from Bloomberg:
“Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said President Joe Biden favors boosting taxes on companies, and signaled openness to considering raising rates on capital gains, while steering clear of a wealth levy. A wealth tax has been discussed but is not something President Biden’ favors,” she said.

Wait, I thought this was a,” tax the top 1%” and all would be well. What am I missing here?
Tax companies? That will bring jobs back.
Tax Capital Gains more? I see, you tax income, we try and save what we have left and grow it, you want to tax it higher. So what you didn’t take and we made work, you want more of it. To do what?
Why reward success?

oh this sounds fair too

The sole focus of the Democrats is on January 6th. After all that was the only threat anyone faced all year. Well now Speaker Pelosi is forming the committee to investigate that day. I repeat, we want the days before and who failed security planning, too, done. But, look at how fair the committee is shaping up as:
Pelosi, is proposing the panel have seven Democratic members, four Republicans. Oh that sounds like a fair committee, doesn’t it? Maybe the four should be from the ten who voted to impeach President Trump.
Any committee not equal in size, chosen by each party is invalid to me. Just more noise, and as stated above, we know who’s best at noise.

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and Senate Rules committees is holding a joint hearing on the Jan. 6 attack today. This is the first public hearing by congressional panels on the day. It should produce news. The former Capitol Police chief and former House and Senate sergeant at arms will all testify. All three lost their posts following the attack as lawmakers complained about how they responded to the breach.

what’s a day without trump news

You heard yesterday that the Supreme Court paved the way for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office to get the former President’s tax returns as part of a criminal probe.

Did you hear that the Court rejected Stormy Daniels defamation case against the former President on Monday? She sued after he tweeted that she had lied about having an affair with him and about having another man make threats against her. The court let a lower court ruling stand that it had no merit.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is determined to rid the city of anything related to former President Trump. He is now terminating three city contracts with the Trump Organization that allow for the operation of a historic carousel and the beloved Wollman and Lasker ice skating rinks in Central Park.
The Mayor said that the city would no longer be associated with Mr. Trump.

Here’s a word for this failed Mayor. There will never be a statue of you in the city; in fact, the former President has a better chance than you do.

Lastly, the former President plans to reassert himself as the dominant force in the Republican Party and stake his claim as the presumptive 2024 GOP presidential nominee when he delivers a speech Sunday at the annual CPAC conference.
I repeat. Trump policies yes, Trump and his personality no.

have a great day.

Drugs are the issue…

the privileged society

We look around and say what’s wrong with these people? We watch television shows and movies that glorify drug use. We see on them “heroes” getting high. We read the gossip pages and see the glory of drug use. We listen to the music and drugs are glorified.
No one pushes back, and I have long wondered what price we are paying for this.

It seems to me almost every time I check into a crime, drugs are involved. I watch a reality show (like 48 Hours) and the great majority involving murder are related back to drugs. We hear of people abuse, generally tied back to drugs. We hear of car mishaps, drug related. Robberies and street crime, related to drugs.

What is the price we are paying? Why is there no talk of this price?

In the opinion of this writer, it’s because we have so much and people feel entitled. They think they are the “in crowd” by participating in the use. What they are doing is right.
Does it matter they are buying on the street, enforcing the crime wave? Not to them.
Does it matter where the profits are going? Deep into the underground and eventually to drug cartels that maim and kill? Not to them.
Does it matter that they are destroying the fabric of the nation? Not to them.

You see they only care about their privileged selves. As long as they get their high life is good and nothing else matters. Do they care about laws? Of course they do, look at how they vote and want to hold others responsible, just not laws that apply to them.

Here’s a few statistics for you.
In 1973, there were 328,670 arrests reported by the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) for drug law violations.
By 2010, there were 80% more arrests for drug possession (1,336,530).
In 2019, there were an estimated 1,558,862 arrests for drug law violations.

more trump news

Would a third party headed by Donald Trump divide the party?
The Suffolk University-USA Today survey showed that 46 percent of the respondents would leave the Republican party and join the Trump party.
59% want Trump to run again in 2024.
80% believe that Republic senators who voted to convict Trump were motivated by political calculations.

One of those senators, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, is going to face a primary.
Now, she has been serving in the Senate since 2002 when her father, former Gov. Frank Murkowski, appointed her to finish his term after he won the governorship.

She has won three terms to the Senate but has never won a majority of the vote. She won 48.6% of the vote in 2004, 39.5% in 2010 and 44.4% in 2016.
She lost the 2010 primary to a tea party-backed candidate, Joe Miller.
But then ran as a write-in candidate and won, defeating both Mr. Miller and the Democratic candidate to keep her Senate seat.

Will she do it again in 2022? We’ll see. Trump’s people think she’ll lose.
Trump senior adviser Jason Miller said:
“The only chasm is between Beltway insiders and grassroots Republicans around the country. When you attack President Trump, you’re attacking the Republican grassroots.”

Trump news today:
Today the Supreme Court denied his attempt to halt a New York subpoena for nearly a decade of his tax records.
The move paves the way for the Manhattan District Attorney’s office to get the documents and present them to a grand jury in a criminal probe.

did this really happen?

This story broke in the Washington Times today. As you read it, think of the charges they wanted to bring against General Flynn for talking to people 5 days before Trump was inaugurated. They said he was guilty of conducting his own foreign policy.
Iran’s foreign minister, Javad Zarif, met with Robert Malley, who was President Obama’s Middle East adviser, in an apparent bid to undermine the Trump team and lay the groundwork for post-Trump relations. One of those was former Secretary of State John F. Kerry, who met with Mr. Zarif during the Trump years. So did Obama-era Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz. They, along with Mr. Malley, were top U.S. negotiators of the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).As part of the deal, Tehran promised to limit its nuclear enrichment activities in exchange for economic sanctions relief and access to tens of billions of dollars in frozen bank accounts.

have a great day

Seriously?

how is it possible

Will Rogers once said, “I don’t make jokes.  I just watch the government and report the facts.” For me this applies to Ted Cruz and Andrew Cuomo this week. All you can do is look at them and say REALLY?

Let’s start with Cruz.
On what planet and in what universe did he think leaving his state while in a crisis was a good idea? Was there no one around him that said, “Senator, you can’t do that.” Then to say we “had no heat and the girls were cold” so they “planned a trip to Cancun.” How could you be so smart and so brain dead?
Just a dumb move, just a dumber explanation and though now you have apologized, as a Republican, you are done. 2024 is a memory now.

As for Cuomo, he won’t apologize for anything and he keeps digging deeper. The old saying, Governor, is when you are in a hole, stop digging.
His own party is beginning to pile on him now. People are beginning to understand the NY nursing home deaths, that are the most in the nation, didn’t have to be so high. The answer to “what difference does it make, they died” is, it didn’t have to be.

Now to show you the difference between a Republican and Democrat with media bias, consider this. Seniors died in NY, most likely needlessly. Cruz was gone 24 hours, he didn’t cause anything. Yet:
– Local media in NYC spent far greater time on Cruz than their own Governor.
– Politico’s AM newsletter devoted 20 paragraphs to Cruz and zero to Cuomo.
– Chris Cuomo on CNN blasted Cruz for a good part of his show. Mentions of the Governor – Zero.
– The networks nightly news devoted double the time to Cruz than Cuomo.

Both of these “smart” political leaders messed up. In Cuomo’s case he lied and people died. In Cruz case he turned around in 24 hours and came home. Which one should be getting greater coverage?

Iran, Really?

Until yesterday the Biden administration said no talks on going back to the Obama Iran deal that Trump cancelled until you (Iran) dismantle what you have done. A strong position.
Iran said, no talks until you lift the sanctions.
We had a standoff.
Guess who blinked?

Biden administration officials said yesterday that the U.S. would accept an invitation from the European Union to join multilateral talks with Iran, extending an olive branch that could pave the way for Washington to reenter a landmark global nuclear deal with Tehran or craft another to take its place.

Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul said this:
The Biden Administration “is already making concessions in an apparent attempt to re-enter the flawed Iran deal.”

Here’s the NYT on this today:
Biden Administration Formally Offers to Restart Nuclear Talks With Iran.
President Biden campaigned on restoring an accord limiting Iran’s nuclear program. It remains unclear if Tehran, which is demanding that sanctions be lifted first, will accept the offer to talk.

Does it sound like we are dealing from strength here?

the border

The report this morning is that more than 75,000 people were arrested crossing the border illegally in January, the most in any January in more than a decade. Some say they are coming in anticipation of less harsh treatment under the new administration.

Again, I ask why is it right to barricade the House of Representatives and not our border? What are we doing here? We closed the hold in Mexico policy today. People were held there by Mexico until they could have a hearing. Now we know over 90% were denied because of invalid reasons.
So now people can cross. We can hold for a short period and then (by law) must release them, and they are asked to return for a hearing. Almost 90% don’t. Why is this a good idea?

Oh this sounds like a fair review

Speaker Nancy Pelosi named the head of the commission to review the Jan 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.
He is retired Army Lt. Gen. Russel L. Honore. Okay so far? Now consider this:
Honore has already stated that he believes the U.S. Capitol Police and the House and Senate sergeants at arms were complicit in the riot.
He said in interviews that the invasion was an inside job, that the Capitol Police force is “40% Trumpsters” and “gave way” to the protesters. “They were either that stupid or ignorant or they complicit. I think they were complicit.”

This sounds like it’s off to a fair review. How does she get away with it? It’s the press folks!

the Angry People

Things in the news that has to make you stop and wonder about the vehemence of the left and cancel culture.

Here’s the NYT today of Rush Limbaugh after yesterdays damning story:
Rush Limbaugh’s Legacy of Venom: As Trump Rose, It All Sounded Familiar:
Weaponizing conspiracy theories and bigotry long before Donald Trump’s ascent, the radio giant helped usher in the political style that came to dominate the Republican Party.
The body is still warm and forget about saying nice, or nothing at all.

Rush died of lung cancer and the sad news came yesterday that former Sen. Bob Dole, 97, said that he’s being treated for stage 4 lung cancer. “While I certainly have some hurdles ahead, I also know that I join millions of Americans who face significant health challenges of their own,” Mr. Dole said in a statement.

Though he ran for V.P (under President Ford) and for President himself (in 1996) as a Republican, let’s hope the left can be kinder to this great American and WWII hero.

angry people II

House Democrats introduced a bill called the “No Glory For Hate Act.”
It’s sole purpose is to ban “twice impeached presidents” from burial at Arlington National Cemetery and federal funds from going to buildings displaying their names or acknowledging their achievements.
It would prevent one person, former President Trump, from having his name displayed on federal projects, buildings, statues, lands, or other type of commemoration.
Is this a sickness they have or are they just vindictive people?
Oh yea, the man was acquitted twice, you wasted time and money.

Didn’t hear this? It’s the press folks!

the virus

Did you see the story that life expectancy in the United States dropped a staggering one year during the first half of 2020 as the coronavirus pandemic caused its first wave of deaths?
In the first half of last year life expectancy was 77.8 years for Americans overall, down one year from 78.8 in 2019.
For males it was 75.1 years and for females, 80.5 years.
As a group, Hispanics in the U.S. have had the most longevity and still do.
Is there Hispanic Privilege? Just asking.

have a great weekend.

Stories of interest…

Some Stories You may find interesting

If you watched certain channels you heard some wonderful words about Rush Limbaugh on his passing. Now if you went elsewhere to view or read you would be shocked at some of the words. There was a time when you respected someone on their passing. Here’s a few examples, there are many, many more.
The NYT:
Rush Limbaugh Dies at 70. Turned Talk Radio Into A Right-Wing Attack Machine. With a following of 15 million and a divisive style of mockery, grievance and denigrating language, he was a force in reshaping American conservatism.
Palmer Report:
Rush Limbaugh spent decades advancing his career by opportunistically spreading vicious lies that got a lot of bad people elected, whose corrupt policies in turn got a lot of Americans killed. Now he’s dead. So be it. There’s a reason “Rest in Piss” is trending right now.
Christopher Mathias – Huffington Post:
Rush Limbaugh was a bigot and a misogynist who saturated America’s airwaves with cruel lies and conspiracy theories for decades, transforming the GOP in the process.

So much for the tolerable left.

Speaking of which, look at what Joe Scarborough had to say on Morning Joe:
The “idiots on other cable news channels” who say the crime of “mom and pop” stores “vandalized during the summer riots” is “just as bad as the United States Capitol being vandalized,” Scarborough threw down: “No, jackass, it’s not.”

See, Scarborough proves the lives in Washington DC are more important than other lives. If you think all businesses and all lives are sacred, you are wrong according to the left. Washington DC people are more important than you.

Add this, Nancy Pelosi and Congressional Democratic leaders are considering a permanent, military-style barrier around the U.S. Capitol even as we learn that 7,000 National Guard soldiers and airmen will stay another month in the city and 5,000 troops will thereafter remain indefinitely.
So, their protection is more important than ours because they want the border walls stopped, even dismantled.

How do they get away with it? Oh yea, the press, that’s right.

Even with all this going on the left is not happy with President Biden. They are upset that Biden won’t write off $50,000 in student loans per borrower. He offered Warren and Schumer a reduction of $10,000. That alone charters new ground and is beyond the thought of many. Not the progressives though. AOC: “Who cares what school someone went to? Entire generations of working-class kids were encouraged to go into more debt under the guise of elitism. This is wrong. Nowhere does it say we must trade-off early childhood education for student loan forgiveness. We can have both.”

There is a divide in the Democratic Party today but those claiming to be “moderate,” though the majority are silent, and the left is leading and pushing the administration ever more left.

Here’s another example. Ever since her hug of Senator Graham after the Barrett hearing they have turned on former icon Diane Feinstein with all guns blazing.
The LA Times today:
“The slow, sad fade is not simply a function of Feinstein’s age — she is 87 — but also the fact that times and the political world have changed and Feinstein, whether unwilling or unable, has failed to change along with them. …
“Today, Feinstein is a subject of scornconsidered by many a relic who is well past her prime, who refuses to yield to someone younger, more vibrant, more politically pugnacious and more reflective of California’s kaleidoscopic racial and ethnic diversity. History, with its long view, is likely to be much kinder.”

Remember, if you say nothing, sooner or later they come for you.

Oh yea, the polices you are for and against are only dependent on if you are in power or not. Here’s an example.
There used to be a policy that any senator could refuse to submit a recommendation okay (called a blue slip) and the judge candidate nominated by the President for any judgeship would not pass and go to a vote.
Well Mitch McConnell got upset at all the hold ups and started to act without the blue slips. Democrats called it a crime and told us how wrong it was. They called it a moral crime. They are now back in power in the senate. So they reverted back, right? Wrong.
“The policy that incoming Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) is pursuing would make no change to the so-called ‘blue slip’ process that Republicans changed in 2017 to yank home-state senators’ power to block former President Donald Trump’s circuit court picks.“While Democrats criticized Republicans for scrapping blue slips for Trump, they’re now signaling that after four years of bruising judicial confirmation battles, they’re not going to reinstate the tradition they had defended.”

Surprised? You shouldn’t be. Mark Twain said this (I substituted the word phony for his word “idiot.”):
Suppose you were a phony. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But then I repeat myself.
You see they think we are the idiots because we won’t notice.

Oh yea, I guess most people won’t know because the press won’t tell us.

cuomo the hero

The hero of Coronavirus who lied, yet wrote a book about his leadership and won an Emmy, is finally getting a little heat. The adoring press who anointed him the brilliant leader and even developed a term “Cuomosexual” for his appeal. Well, now they have “Cuomoized” and they are treading lightly.
Think if he were a Republican and did this:
Describing an exchange with the governor that has not been previously reported, Democratic Assemblyman Ron Kim said that he received a call on his cell phone from the governor last week as he was batheing his children at home.
“Gov. Cuomo called me directly on Thursday to threaten my career if I did not cover up for Melissa [DeRosa] and what she said. He tried to pressure me to issue a statement, and it was a very traumatizing experience.” The Democratic assemblyman, had a family death in the Nursing Home fiasco. He quoted Cuomo as saying, “We’re in this business together and we don’t cross certain lines’ and he said “I hadn’t seen his wrath and that he can destroy me.”

So it gets worse for the Governor right? Except the NY Post had a poll yesterday. 46% of New Yorkers will vote next year to reelect him. 45% said they wouldn’t.
It’s good to be a Democrat with the press on your side, isn’t it?

some other news

A bad unemployment report this AM.
Unemployment claims rose to 861,000 last week, halting a downward trend that pointed to an improving labor market.

Some good news:
NASA expects to receive confirmation of a rover’s landing on Mars around 3:55 p.m. today. Amazing.

Rep. Shelia Jackson and House Democrats pushed forward a reparations plan for Black Americans on Wednesday despite tepid support from President Biden and stiff opposition from Republicans.
As a first step to making the country pay for past racism, Democrats want to establish a commission to examine slavery and discrimination dating back to 1619 and recommend appropriate remedies.
Now does every Democrat support this? No. But none speak up, why? Because the left owns the party voice today, and moderates are concerned if they speak up the left will primary and beat them.

Finally, the press never misses a chance to attack the former President. Here’s the NYT headline today on the building being demolished in Atlantic City.
Trump’s Atlantic City Hotel and Casino Demolition
The last vestige of former President Donald Trump’s legacy in Atlantic City, N.J., ended on Wednesday with the implosion of Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino. It was once the premier gaming destination in the area.

Missing is the building was owned by Carl Ican who bought the property before Trump became President and has plans for the area.

Minor details, but why miss a chance to attack and degrade.
It’s the press folks.

Have a great day

Trying to keep track…

Keeping up with keeping up – let’s see

Change your diet:
Bill Gates said the rich countries, like the U.S., should eat 100% synthetic beef.

Change your autos:
Boris Johnson, PM of England, said that Jaguar and Land Rover are going all-electric by 2025. That’s on top of Ford saying they will be all electric in Europe by 2030.

Change what you call the airport in Las Vegas.
The Clark County Commission voted unanimously Tuesday to strip the name of a “racist” former U.S. senator off Las Vegas’s main airport and replace it with former Sen. Harry Reid. So Harry Reid airport in Vegas soon.

You have to read the news everyday to keep up.
Imagine if you were booking a trip to Vegas, reserving a Jaguar rental and booking a steak house. It’s all changing!

Now Mark Twain once made a point about reading the daily news. He said:
“If you don’t read the newspaper  you are uninformed, if you do read the newspaper you are misinformed.”

President Biden has a Town hall

The President stood on stage and came across as a concerned, caring person about the nation. He is trying hard to project that image and succeeding.
It was also clear the audience was representative of the Democratic party today. They cheered the far left positions that Biden took and sat quiet on the more moderate ones. (Like he does not want to defund police.)

The left is where Democratic enthusiasm and drive is. To the right his agenda seems aggressively leftist. The progressive groups say he hasn’t been aggressive enough.

What did he say last night?
– He said big is better and wants the Covid-relief bill passed by March 14.
– He said his press secretary was wrong and one day a week is not an open school. Tough spot for Jen Psaki when your boss calls you out on national TV.
– He laid a marker saying his plan will create “7 million jobs this year.”
– He said there will be enough vaccine doses for all by “the end of July.”
– And that we will around Christmas be closer “to normal.”
– He rejected the proposed forgiveness of $50,000 in student debt. He did support $10,000, which opens the door to this for the first time.

What about the questions that weren’t asked like?
You think they asked about the lost jobs on the pipeline and rising energy prices?
What about Iran ? Yesterday they warned they would tear up much of the international monitoring agreement of its nuclear activities next week if the U.S. doesn’t lift economic sanctions.
What about the rocket attack on a U.S. military base in Iraqi Kurdistan, killing a contractor and injuring others, by Shiite groups supported by Iran?
Are we keeping the May 1 withdrawal of our troops from Afghanistan?
What are your plans with the border now that people are saying you invited them in? Do you think the nation really wants an open border?

what’s a day without trump news?

Now that was a scathing attack on Mitch McConnell by the former President. Payback for the speech after the impeachment vote. The two are officially at war for who controls the party. Perfect for division and permanent minority status.

The two could not be more different:
Senator McConnell has the inside game wired. He is professional politician.
Trump has the hearts and minds of the GOP faithful.
Who wins?
The Democrats as long as the party continues to divide.

McConnell’s “inside game” led to Trump’s biggest accomplishment as president — confirming three Supreme Court justices and a raft of lower court judges.
Despite that, they never warmed to each other.

To illustrate, some will never cease with Trump syndrome:
The NAACP, on behalf of Rep. Bennie Thompson, has filed a federal lawsuit against former President Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani, accusing them of conspiring to incite the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
The suit seeks both compensatory and punitive damages and alleges that Trump, Giuliani and members of two right-wing groups, Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, violated the 1871 Ku Klux Klan Act .
How?
They allegedly attempted to disenfranchise Black voters by preventing Congress from certifying the election results on Jan. 6. Mr. Thompson (D., Miss.) is chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

Congressman Thompson apparently said he was scared in his office that day and thus the charges. Does that mean the store owners, shop keepers and others can bring suit, too, for the riots that occurred last summer and fall?
I feel certain people there were scared too.

Did you hear the tape with Larry Kudlow in the background listening to VP Harris say there was no vaccine distribution plan from the Trump team?
You can hear the hot mic saying “Bullsh*t” about five times.

George Conway, a founder of Project Lincoln was back in the news yesterday. He now supports shutting the project down after the “harassment crisis.”
They got you good, George. Used you to help destroy Trump and when the election was over, BOOM. Hope you can save your marriage, and mayle like your spouse stay home and fix things with the family.

have a great day.

It Just Goes On…

and on it goes

We thought they would go for censure after impeachment, but instead they chose for a commission to investigate and keep the drum beat going on. The idea is keep Donald Trump front and center, divide the Republican party and keep the anti Trumpers united.
It’s working, too, as President Biden has a 53% approval in Rasmussen’s Daily Average.

I ask again, why is the attack on the House and the “threat” it presented to congressional lives any different than the riots, store looting and threats to citizens in those areas?
Why is it that in DC we get more troops, fences, barbed wire, increased security and upgraded police numbers, while in other areas we talk defunding and less security?
How do we decide which lives are worth more?
How do we decide which protesters are righteous?

Mitch McConnell’s attempt to have it both ways with the impeachment, voting no then taking to the floor to bury Trump, is still getting criticism.
The left is saying they would have impeached the former President if he (McConnell) had the courage to stand up.
The right, led by Donald Jr. said, “If only McConnell was so righteous as the Democrats trampled Trump and the Republicans while pushing the Russia collusion bull**** for 3 years or while Dems incited 10 months of violence, arson, and rioting. Yea then he just sat back and did jack ****.”

The best thing for the Democrats, a divided Republican party. So what will former President Trump do? I predict divide the party, just like he did in Georgia to cost them the senate. Why?

Think about it, his ego still tells him he won. His ego still tells him the American people want him (though in 4 years his approval rating never got higher than 47%). His ego still tells him he was the “best President,” maybe ever, and he should be on Mount Rushmore.

Why did some senators surprise and vote with the Democrats to impeach?
Here’s what the biggest surprise, Senator Cassidy of Lousiana, had to say:
“I voted to convict former President Trump because he is guilty, that’s what the facts demand.”

Pelosi and a “9-11 Commission”

Okay, she wants to appoint a commission to investigate the Jan. 6th events, what happened all day and what did President Trump do when he found out.
Okay, great.
But don’t spend the $25+ million dollars without telling me what happened before Jan. 6th too.
You see, I want to know who knew what when. Who didn’t call for more security? Did the FBI fail? The Police? Or was it the leadership in the house?
All the facts please.

In fact, how many still believe this NYT story on the police officer who died?
“At some point in the chaos — with the mob rampaging through the halls of Congress while lawmakers were forced to hide under their desks — he was struck with a fire extinguisher, according to two law enforcement officials.”
On Sunday the NYT retracted this, saying:
“Medical experts have said he did not die of blunt force trauma. Investigators are exploring whether Sicknick became ill after coming in contact with a chemical irritant such as pepper spray or bear spray. Another theory is that Sicknick had a pre-existing condition that was exacerbated by engaging with rioters.”

Another story spread by the liberal media that was wrong.
Think of how many of our citizens are walking around thinking there was Russian Collusion, Cuomo did the best job, and the officer was killed by Trump supporters hitting him with a fire extinguisher.
Is that an endorsement of a free press? Maybe a liberal state press.

republicans struggle going forward

What’s so hard about the party’s future? It’s as simple as Yes and No.
Trump policies, yes. Trump personality, no. It’s a winning formula.

put this in as “And what did you expect?”

Minnesota is having crime problems and hiring police officers. You call them names, charge them as racist and biased, cut their budget, let criminals loose before they finish the paperwork and you wonder why crime is up and no one wants the job? If you’re surprised you must a Democratic official in the area.

In NY they are having a major crime spree, and this weekend had additional issues on their train system. One example, two killed and two injured from knife attacker. They identified the person after a few days.
He was out walking the streets despite four recent arrests, including attacking his father and a Police Officer.
NY doesn’t believe in bail or locking people up anymore. Surprised at the crime uptick?

In Virginia the state agency that handles unemployment insurance in Virginia estimated that it has paid out more than $40 million in benefits to individuals who submitted claims on behalf of inmates. I guess we weren’t housing or feeding them enough in jail.
Just add that to the waste of your tax dollars, and that’s one state only.

Governor cuomo speaks

Forced to confront the rising tide of condemnation, he defended himself. I watched it. Four personal thoughts.
1. You said you should have given out more facts. No, you covered up and lied.
2. Thus, your book is a fraud and an example of your Trump like ego.
3. Give back your Emmy. By your own admission you “withheld facts.”
4. When you said “Who cares [if they] died in the hospital, died in a nursing home? They died.” The point, Governor, is many didn’t need to die. We care.

You’re lucky that the liberal media networks, cable stations and papers are not covering this as they would if it were a conservative governor. In fact they probably still have half the nation thinking you were a hero.

the lincoln project

Isn’t it ironic that this project, made of Republicans anti Trump, after getting so much positive coverage prior to the election is now busted?
The timing is really interesting.
Does that mean that George Conway (Kellyanne’s husband) who was a hero is now out too? Of course George knew “nothing” about the pedophile at the head, and all the money being used to support the team. “It’s terrible and awful,” he  told “Morning Joe” when asked about the allegations (after the story broke big). The Blaze wrote this:
“Conway — who wouldn’t see a microphone extended within 500 yards of him if not for his wife, former Trump senior counselor Kellyanne Conway — then added, “I didn’t know John very well. I frankly only spoke to him a couple times on the phone early on in the Lincoln Project.”
Hold the phone. You didn’t know him very well? You co-founded the Lincoln Project with Weaver while raising more than $80 million with him last year going into the presidential election. Oh, by the way, there’s also an op-ed in The New York Times that you co-wrote with that guy you don’t really know.

From my side, George, who made life difficult for his successful spouse can’t get enough heat. You see George, the left will love you when you’re helping them win. Once that’s done, so are you.

finally shouldn’t we be proud

NASA set to touch down on Mars. We are leading the way. Should be bigger news:
The Perseverance rover is expected to land on Thursday, seeking signs of life on the planet. Amazing.
China? Well, China’s Tianwen-1 is on course to enter Mars on Wednesday, in advance of a landing attempt in May.
China a competitor? “C’mon Man”. They’re 60 days behind us.

have a great day.

Eat Our Lunch…

“Eat our lunch – c’mon man”

President Biden used that term early in his campaign to refute President Trump’s concerns over China. He implied China was so far behind that Trump was ridiculous to say it.
Yesterday he used it again. This time to his team that if we don’t act China “will eat our lunch.”
Here’s three takeaways from those opposite statements:
1. How poor a campaign Donald Trump ran not to take advantage of his policy changes and actions against China.
2. How wrong President Biden was a year ago, after 47 years in Washington DC, not only his failure to recognize the threat, but his part in creating it.
3. How biased the press is to allow it to be said and not report or act on it.

impeachement

Well the trial moves to the former President’s defense today. After 16 hours of blistering prosecution by the Democrats, what do we have?

First, the President’s team is hinting they will not take their 16 hours at all. Maybe just four. Really?
You mean after the way they buried you, the thought you have is we don’t need to fight back? They destroyed the former President.

Now the one lawyer who did well, David Schoen, is an observant religious person, who does not work on the Sabbath. That begins tonight at sundown and ends Saturday at sundown. That leaves the Trump team with the other lawyer who you may recall almost convicted the former President in his opening.

Maybe it’s me, but it sure seems Trump and team mismanaged this entire process. Maybe next time hire good lawyers and don’t let your ego keep firing them until the week before the hearing. Might be a good idea.

A reminder, I do not think this ends here even with senate acquittal. I still believe the Democrats will want to keep it going and introduce a censure measure.

One final thing on the “trial.” Here’s comments from Allen Dershowitz from Good Morning DC newsletter:

“Dershowitz noted that House impeachment managers deserve credit for putting together a powerful and emotional case about the inexcusable events of January 6, 2021. “ They get the Emmy, they get the Oscars, but when it comes to the Constitutional law,” Dershowitz said,” they get B minus with great inflation.”
Dershowitz used an opportunity to share that Jamie Raskin was his student and disclosed the story about Raskin’s father, Marcus Raskin. In 1968 Marcus Raskin defied the military draft and was indicted for “inciting people to defy the military law.” Dershowitz said that he played a role in the case. His advice to Marcus Raskin’s defense team was to plead the First Amendment. And guess what they did? They pleaded the First Amendment, and Marcus Raskin was acquitted on First Amendment grounds, the same grounds his brilliant son is now trivializing, Dershowitz did not hide his criticism.

virus news

Did you see the story that President Trump was sicker than reported when he went to the hospital? Came thisclose to going on the ventilator.

What you can get away with as a Democrat.
President Biden said that his predecessor “did not do his job on the vaccine.” He was at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., and said “Covid-19 vaccines would not be available for all Americans before late summer because of his predecessor’s poor planning.”
Forget warp speed, the development, and commitment to buy 100 million doses that no one knows if it will work, that doesn’t count.

Another example of the advantage is the lack of coverage in the NYT on CNN, and the networks on the Cuomo story.
The deliberate lies and hiding of the nursing home death facts, as leaked by someone on his staff, may be criminal. Yet, the man wrote a book on management and was praised for his handling of the crisis.

Let’s see, the press told us Cuomo and Newsome (CA) were the best at handling and DeSantis (FL) and Abbott (TX) were the worst.
How did that turn out?
Today, no reporting on the truth, so how many still believe that?
The press is the problem.

By the way, did you know or hear this?
On inauguration they changed the testing criteria for Covid that results in a lower number of cases.
“The World Health Organization, on President Biden’s inauguration day, released a notice that the COVID PCR test was overly sensitive based on its cycle threshold. Simply amplifying viral fragments well beyond what’s clinically meaningful creates false positive cases, driving up the case numbers constantly reported on Fox News and CNN, these networks dutifully blaming each case on Trump.”
This notice was written on January 13, but not released until inauguration day, a week later. What a coincidence!
Pretty big news isn’t it? Shouldn’t every citizen know this?

have a safe and relaxing weekend.

A Guest Commentary…

Editors Note: On occasion we turn this blog over to our readers who want to express their opinion. Today we have a reader who has strong opinion on the impeachment proceedings. We remain open to your thoughts and opinions. If you have an interest in a guest blog, just let us know.
The opinions today are those of the guest writer and not necessarily of this blog.

a reader speaks

I was watching the impeachment hearing today and my blood started to boil.
Here’s why:

1.  Trump would never ever tell his supporters to go and harm police officers.  All summer long during horrendous rioting he was an avid supporter of the officers in blue.
As I recall, the Dems were the party that wanted to defund the police.

2.  The “lie” they keep referring to was meant for mail in ballots and what a farce he thought that was.

3.  Are they trying to tell me that Trump wanted Mike Pence and his family harmed or murdered that day?

4.  Are they trying to tell me that Trump and his supporters planned this for weeks but the FBI and CIA and local enforcement had no idea?  It must have been the best kept secret of the century.  “Come on man.”

5.  They act like it is the first time an election is being disputed.  Hello – remember Hillary Clinton – She still thinks she won.

6.  Eric Swalwell – All of a sudden he is an expert on everything  He was sleeping with the enemy for years without a clue.  Real sharp guy.  Not to mention he lied about Russian collusion for years.  I can do without his opinion or analysis.

Maybe, just maybe, four plus years of bias media coverage .  Covering  up of Hunter and Joe Biden family shenanigans  reached a boiling point.

I did not vote for Donald Trump because I thought he was a saint.  I voted for his policies.  His idea of ” America First.”  I am sick and tired of my hard earned taxes being wasted.

This trial is totally frustrating and ridiculous.
How can you impeach a president who is already out of office?
Why millions of dollars for fences and walls in Washington DC?  Isn’t this the party who is against walls and barriers?  Maybe it was ok for rioters to destroy hard working peoples’ stores and businesses, but when it gets close to them it is a different  story.  No one said what happened at the Capital was ok but to blame Trump and insinuate he planned this is insane.

Let’s get on with the business of America.
Without Trump what are they going to talk about?  Maybe now America will see the new ruling parties  idiotic ideology.

Observations…

just observing – Impeachment

The impeachment trial began and the Democrats were ready with an edited video and presentations. Trump’s lawyers, not so prepared. I guess that’s what happens when you keep firing lawyers until a week before the trial starts.

Representative Jamie Raskin, who is the lead prosecutor in the impeachment, choked back tears in his presentation on Tuesday. He said his daughter never wants to return to Washington after what happened January 6th.
I’m in tears too. I know some kids so scared about the country they wonder if they can stay here.

The thought process is we all know the outcome before the trial. Not so fast I say. It is not without possibility they get to impeachment. Think about this:
Trump’s first lawyer gets up after the Raskin opening and compliments him on it! That makes it easier to vote guilty. In fact, another Republican switched to join the five who already supported the Democrats. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana.

Then add this, Republican Leader McConnell said he hasn’t “made up his mind on how he’ll vote.” He told every Republican they were on their own to vote their conscience. Trump never had (because he never gave) loyal support, so
don’t be surprised if this gets close. Senators like McConnell want to get rid of Donald Trump.

The Republican Party is in disarray. Yesterday Senator Richard Shelby of Alabama said he would not seek reelection. He is the fourth Senate Republican to say he will not run next year. That’s not a great prospect for regaining the senate.

One last thing on the impeachment, the videos and arrests. I ask again, why is this more important than the attacks on people, businesses and police in cities all across the country that they say nothing about? Is it because this is thee?

just observing – The World

At a press conference in Wuhan, China, World Health Organization officials said that the virus that causes Covid-19 was not from the lab, but “likely jumped from one species to another, before being transmitted to humans.”
Okay, so refunding the W.H.O. got us that.

George Schultz, the former Secretary of State under President Reagan, passed away. The Reagan foreign policy, of course, won the cold war without a shot being fired. I wanted to share this story about Schultz, and you can apply it to today and the America First argument.
George Shultz used to make a point of inviting new ambassadors about to depart for their assignments into his office, walk them over to the globe, and spin it. As it spun he would invite them to point, as it slowed down, to their country. So the young ambassador would shortly point to wherever he or she was headed — Japan, say, or Uruguay or some other exotic spot.
“No,” Shultz would say. ‘That’s not your country.’ Then he would spin the globe again and as it slowed he would suddenly stop it by pointing at America. ‘That’s your country,’ he’d say. ‘And I don’t want you to forget it.'”

just observing – politics

Who knew that President Biden, when he said a major priority in his first 100 days was students back in the classroom, meant 50% of students back in a classroom at least one day a week?
Well, that’s a heckuva goal. We have 40% of public school students in America are now have full-time instruction. 35% online-only. The rest (25%) are in a part-time hybrid plan.
So I guess he reached his goal before he took office?

Paul Manafort, who for a short time was chairman of the 2016 Trump campaign and pardoned by the President, cannot be prosecuted by N.Y. now.  They had planned to charge him, but a court ruled because the charges are too similar to those for which he was pardoned, they cannot.

This one struck me as odd. Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen were on Cohen’s podcast and agreed to “bury the hacket.” They said “both of our stories will be forever linked with Donald Trump, but also with one another.” Cohen then told her. “Thanks for giving me a second chance.” What? A second chance at what? Wasn’t her case thrown out of court and her lawyer facing life in prison?

Speaking of family, President Biden’s son Hunter still owns a stake in an investment company affiliated with the Chinese government, according to the White House. He owns a 10% stake in Bohai Harvest RST Equity Investment Fund Management Co., also known as BHR. He has repeatedly pledged to divest his shares, but that hasn’t happened yet, said White House press secretary Jen Psaki. “He has been working to unwind his investment but I would certainly point you — he’s a private citizen — I would point you to him or his lawyers on the outside on any update,” she said.
Oh, like the Trump kids Donald Jr. and Eric?
By the way, BHR is a billion-dollar investment fund backed by China that was formed in 2013 by Hunter Biden and Chris Heinz, the stepson of then-Secretary of State John Kerry.

Have a great day

As I’ve Watched…

observation

As I’ve watched President Biden comment on domestic affairs, the past administration, his executive actions and yesterday foreign policy, I reached a conclusion.

For his part, the President is convinced that everything that was done by the prior team was immoral and wrong. He is coming across, to me at least, as conveying “I am the moral compass. I am the one who will fix things. I am the one who will return morality to our government and nation.”

The President seems to be sure what he is doing right, and he has not held back getting the message across to us. I would urge you to watch the words and actions and draw your own conclusion.

It is far more than just the previous President that President Biden is talking about. He has referred to the administration and period as a whole.
Are America First and secure borders examples of lost morals? What were we lost morally on? If we define that, then we can measure whether we were morally corrupt before, during, or after.

From my standpoint, I can understand the words and tweets that came from the oval office were certainly questionable. We heard about the Trump kids, but what exactly did they do? Two worked free for four years, as did the President. What crimes did they commit?
If morals are judged on did you profit from the office, well that’s a whole different story. As we’ve reported for four years, the Trump Business and personal wealth took a hit. No one earned a penny from the government for four years.
Now let’s keep a watch on the current administration. I’ve already seen First Brother Frank on TV in an ad pushing his name and the law firm that employs him. (He’s not a lawyer.) I’ve seen that Hunter Biden has a personal biography coming out, published by the same publisher who cancelled Senator Hawley’s book.

And it’s just not the President. I watch his press secretary do her daily thing, and I come away thinking her tone and words are similar. She seems, to me at least, as having a tone that says “see how open I am, we are answering your questions truthfully and honest.” I find it condescending.

Again, I can be wrong, but I see moral clarity touted daily and think its worth our watch.

while on the high moral ground

Congress acted yesterday to show its moral standing. They voted, almost entirely on party lines, with eleven Republicans joining every Democrat to strip Rep. Greene of her committee assignments.
Now she certainly touted thoughts and ideas that I can never comprehend. How she won election is a good question, but she did. Since election she has not supported those positions, going so far as to say she was wrong then.

Okay, but Nancy Pelosi argued that anyone in the office supporting or threatening other members must be acted upon. Okay again.
Now tell me why you won’t vote the same way on Rep. Maxine Waters who told people to get after anyone in the Trump administration, wherever they were.
Tell me why you won’t condemn Majority Leader Schumer who threatened on live TV two supreme court justices.

You see, when you claim the high moral ground and lay out the rules they have to apply to thee as well.

the senate passes a budget 50-50

The Senate passed a budget 5:35 a.m. this morning. This allows Congress to try to fast-track  the $1.9 trillion stimulus bill without Republican support.
Now the vote was 50-50 and VP Harris had to cast the deciding one. So the next time someone says the Republicans did fine in November, remind them of this.

You ask about Joe Manchin? He voted with the Dems despite all his talk that $1.9 was too much and he wouldn’t. Talk a lot Joe does that and says he’s an independent voter; but remember what we told you for years. Never when it matters.

New Majority Leader Chuck Schumer was so excited that from the floor he noted its been one month since Democrats won a pair of Senate seats in Georgia. “Just a month from that day, we have taken a giant step to begin to fulfill our promise.”
Yep, you get what you vote for.

as we head to the weekend

Buckle up for next week as the Democrats show more indignation, and with the support of the media, hype up an impeachment (remove from office) of a President no longer in office.
After days of sensational charges and noise, the former President will not be impeached. No chance.
End of story?
No. What do you say?
I predict Senator Noise (Schumer) will bring a censure measure to the senate, just to keep this going for another week or two.

While he does that, ask yourself this. What is this about? People rioting in the streets near him and his friends. Then ask yourself why it is different from the riots we saw all summer and continue in some areas. Outside, of course, this was close to home. What’s the difference? Is his life and those around him worth more than everyone else? It would seem if you were anti riot and pro police you would be like that when it wasn’t in your neighborhood, right?

Just something to think about this weekend.

Changing…

yes, change is all around us

For some change is great, it means shaking up the old and bringing on new.
For others it is disruption in life and a move from what fit and was.

One thing for sure, change does not come without a price. Today we are living through much change. As President Biden said (in recognition of the heat he was taking on excessive Executive Orders), he is changing the policies of his predecessor.
A predecessor who took much delight in saying he had dismantled the legacy of his predecessor.

So my guess today is, you are for or against change these days depending on how you voted.

Here’s a few changes in the news today:
We have stopped building the wall and are changing immigration policy.
We have cancelled pulling some troops out of Germany. We will stay and pay.
We are back in the Paris Climate agreement, and funding the bill.
We filed a dismissal of an action against Yale that said it practiced reverse discrimination against Asian and White applicants.
Puerto Rico’s new Democratic Governor announced a plan to vote on statehood for the Island.
Congress has introduced a bill to make Washington DC a state.
The new administration dropped the suit that would bar boys/men who say they identify as woman from competing in women’s events – at any level.
Pipelines are out, new drilling on government land are done.

“The Times They Are A Changing.”

Remember the lyrics from Bob Dylan?
Come gather ’round people. Wherever you roam.
And admit that the waters. Around you have grown.
And accept it that soon. You’ll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you. Is worth savin’ Then you better start swimmin’
Or you’ll sink like a stone.

it goes beyond that

In my last blog I told the story of my ten year old granddaughter and her question after getting her first paycheck. (Where’s My Money?)
I got a note from a reader who said this:
“I’m afraid to tell you this but the values of the nation have changed so much you may be teaching the wrong thing. You see saving now will lead to some saying later — you have much, you must give to those who though they may have spent their earnings on drugs, booze, fast cars or good times – have none now. You must share what you saved and have. It’s called “equity” these days.”

I thought about that and all I can think of is “The Times They Are A Changing.”
What was once valued, no longer may be.
So change is about which side you are on and how you see the world. I know where I stand.

The Almost two Trillion Dollar Package

The $1.9 trillion dollar stimulus package is moving out of the senate with all 50 Democratic votes. That means Senator Manchin once again talked a good game but in the end went along. Now he says, before the House and Senate reconcile there will be the changes he wants. We’ll see.
Maybe someone should send him John F Kennedy’s book – Profiles in Courage. Then he can see what it means to stand alone.

One more thought on that $1.9 trillion. It includes the $1,400 payment to individuals. I have thought long and hard about the debt we are building and the day of reckoning to come. I was thinking about those checks and here’s a thought. Let me use another family member as an example:

My nephew is a professional entertainer and travels the nation doing his show. Guess what, with the virus and closed facilities his opportunities are zero. Now he’s tried to give lessons and fill in where possible. He deserves the check, he was truly impacted. Does everyone need checks? Were they impacted like that? Unemployment is 6.7%.
Think about that.

Finally there is a vote today

The House Republicans met yesterday and reaffirmed Liz Cheney as their number three in leadership. She was on the hot seat because of her vote to impeach the President. She won 145-61.
Now she only has to worry about the next primary.

Then the group reaffirmed Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s committee assignments. Now she did condem her past comments embracing conspiracy theories and political violence. Said she had gone through a dark time and was wrong.
All done?
Well it was with her Republican colleagues, but not so with the House Democrats. They plan to vote her off committees today.
So the times they are a changing as opposition parties get to decide committee assignments for the minority. Dangerous? I think so.
What happens if Republicans capture the House in 2022 (and after the final House seat was decided yesterday the numbers are now 222-213), they only need to win five additional seats. Does that mean they can decide what committee Eric Swalwell sits on? They may not want him on the Intelligence Committee since he cavorted with a Chinese Spy.
Or, maybe Adam Schiff should be off the committee because he lied about evidence on Russian Collusion?
Dangerous road to travel, no matter how much the times appear to be a changing.

Wisdom…

A Little wisdom

We began this blog over a decade ago with the byline “Common Sense.” At the time we thought the nation was losing its clarity.
In my opinion time has proven that true.
So today let’s take a brief look at what we call wisdom from two different sources:
First from a separation of four generations in my own family and then Washington.

the wisdom of a 10 and 95 year old

The ten year old is my granddaughter. With a talent for singing and acting, she performed in local shows and then was selected for a professional one where she would be paid. Pretty amazing for a ten year old, and we were proud. She was excited and then received her first paycheck. She opened it and looked at her parents and said, “Where’s my money?” She knew what she was getting paid and now she was being introduced to taxes and fees. She learned quickly about working and taxes.
Her next question was how to save in the future and she learned at age ten about Roth IRA’s. She immediately pressured her parents to open one for her.

So in the question “Where’s my money?” and the statement “Open me a Roth.”, I see the wisdom of a 10 year old. How many never learn?

Now the 95 year old. She is the Great Grandmother of the ten year old.
Last week in a conversation about the state of the nation she had clear opinions. Then I told her about General Motors and the decision they made to eliminate all gasoline cars in 14 years. “What?” she asked.” How are the cars going to run?”
I said they would be electric cars. Her response was immediate:
“Oh that’s great, now when we lose electricity, we can’t drive either.”

The wisdom of a 95 year old.

the wisdom of government

Contrast the simple wisdom above with government today.
We’re cutting the pipeline because of the environment, but not the oil. We’ll ship the oil on trucks or by rail. The fact that that will produce more climate damage doesn’t matter. Oh yea, prices will go up and jobs will be lost.
The wisdom of the decision is?

Then ten Republicans met with the President and VP to discuss a stimulus package yesterday. Did they agree? No, but “they enjoyed spending time with each other” and were only a little “more than $1 trillion apart.”
Isn’t that great, the wisdom of our elected leaders were narrowed to a mere trillion dollars for one program.

The examples are limitless.

in conclusion

Listening to the 10 and 95 year old individuals made a lot more sense to me than our elected leaders these days. They seemed to have more “Common Sense” and thought process to me, than those we chose to lead.
Just a thought on Wisdom today.

Since Thinking Is Still…

Since the 1970’s and long gas lines (for those who remember) we have tried to become free of foreign influence on our energy supply.
I was wondering why, after the commitment of seven Presidents to get us energy independent, we would do what we did last week?
Do we really want to import energy again?
Did we not like the reduced home and gasoline costs?

I heard the President and John Kerry say the workers will get new jobs in solar. Then I learned 80% of the solar panels are made in China. Are we deporting these workers now?
Does anyone in the media care about the truth anymore?

Speaking of which, do they care about free speech? Hasn’t the banning of Parler been awfully quiet? Don’t people realize that silencing of one leads to more, and then it will be them?

Whose idea was it to vaccinate Guantanamo prisoners before our elderly? It took an uproar stop this plan? Terrorists over our seniors who fought for the nation?
Who thought that was a good idea?

So the ex FBI lawyer (Kevin Clinesmith) who doctored the answer on the FISA form to investigate Carter Page, from yes, he does work with the CIA to no, gets probation only? It started the whole FISA Russian Collusion hoax.
Then, he still has his law license?

The NYT on Sunday had this headline: After the Record Turnout, Republicans Are Trying To Make It Harder To Vote.
I don’t think that’s true; they want ID of voters, not the unfettered mailing we had.
Wouldn’t fairness be nice in the media?

Trump fired his impeachment lawyers? Why? Oh, because they wanted to challenge impeachment of a not in office President, and he wanted to challenge election fraud? You have to be kidding.
Is there any end to this guy’s nuttiness?

This morning he announced two new lawyers (with a week to trial). David Schoen, who represented Roger J. Stone and Bruce Castor, a former district attorney in Pennsylvania.
Castor is famous for declining to prosecute Bill Cosby while he was the district attorney in Montgomery County, Pa.
Schoen said of his casework, “I represented all sorts of reputed mobster figures. The alleged head of Russian mafia in this country, Israeli mafia and two Italian bosses, and guy the government claimed was the biggest mafioso in the world.”
This should be good.

Really, what’s with Biden’s brother (Frank)? A non lawyer, he goes on TV in an ad for a law firm saying he will be there with them to represent you?
I see him wearing a TBT shirt that stands for The Biden Team.
Now I ask, we heard over and over the Trump kids were profiting big time from their Dad in office (which Forbes has shown is untrue) and the media covered it big. Where is the coverage of the Bidens and their blatant efforts?

While on Biden, when do you think we’ll see that plan he had to control the virus? You know the one Trump wasn’t doing? I’m ready.

The Democrats are very media savvy. Later this week, the body of Capitol Police Officer (Brian Sicknick), who died after the Jan. 6 riot, will lie in honor in the Rotunda. Think of the power of this timing with the impeachment trial next week. Very smart on their part.

Is it just me, or does it seem watching the media that the Republicans have a bigger problem with Rep. Marjorie Green than the Democrats have with their extreme (The Squad)?
It certainly appears that way in print and coverage.

Finally, shouldn’t there be more coverage of the change in the administrations presentation change of “equality” to “equity”? I think this is significant.
VP Harris said: “Equality suggests, everyone should get the same amount. The problem with that, not everybody’s starting out from the same place. Equity is an attempt to account for differences in need among people from disadvantaged backgrounds.”
What does all that mean?

Just thinking today…..
