Why Are We Doing This?
I have asked this question for a month now. Why is it different for the climate that Russia, Iran and OPEC pump the oil that we and the world need and not us?
Why? In fact, I hear if we did it the oil is actually cleaner.
Now the price of oil has passed $100 a barrel.
Soon the average gallon of gas in the U.S. will pass $4.00, and the guess is by summer pass $4.50.
So:
Why are we running a trade deficit, buying what we have? We could be reducing our deficit.
Why are we giving enemies, sworn to our demise, money to buy weapons to attack us and others?
Why, if we are committed to green, are we leaving a commodity (oil) in the ground that will be worth almost nothing if green succeeds? Aren’t you supposed to sell when you can?
Why should the people we are buying from reduce their price, when we are leading the charge to put them out of business?
Why is this administration so blind to this?
Why doesn’t this administration see that this issue will doom them to defeat? Don’t they see rising prices for oil leads to higher prices for everything? That means rising inflation before the mid terms and elections.
I cannot see any logical reason we are not unleashing the American people and our ability to produce our own oil, export a dying product, reduce the deficit and fight inflation for our citizens.
Are we so scared of Bernie Sanders, AOC and John Kerry, that we are willing to let people suffer?
Or is it that the administration wants $5.00 a gallon to support the move to electric cars?
If you have a better explanation, send it in.
By the way, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was on MSNBC after the SOTU criticizing the President for not going far enough on climate change. “It was a lost opportunity because there is bipartisan support for a long-term shift away from fossil fuels. We need to hear more about our transition to clean energy beyond weatherizing our windows.”
Did You See?
That 141 nations voted at the UN to condemn Russia for their attack on Ukraine?
Four countries, Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea and Syria joined Russia in voting for the resolution.
35 countries abstained, including India and China. (Countries we gave climate relief to in the Paris accords.)
The President said the Democrats are not for defunding – but funding the police. His party didn’t agree.
Rep. Cori Bush had this immediate response:
“With all due respect, you didn’t mention saving Black lives once in this speech. All our country has done is give more funding to police. The result? 2021 set a record for fatal police shootings. Defund the police. Invest in our communities.”
Oh yea, let’s all experiment like NYC. Reduce funding and free the criminals.
Remember the story yesterday about the feces attack on the subway? Well guess what?
The accused was released without bail when he was a caught.
He then was immediately rearrested in connection with a Brooklyn anti-Semitic assault.
He only had 44 prior arrests, one felony and 10 misdemeanor convictions.
Does anyone in the administration know what causes inflation?
Biden again said that his BBB spending (the billions he wants) would cut inflation. In what world?
Well, now the administration is asking for $30 billion for more COVID spending?
What? Then consider this:
There is still at least $500 billion from the last COVID bill that still hasn’t been spent.
Senator Manchin, when asked if he changed his mind on BBB said: “I’ve never found out that you can lower costs by spending more.”
All this makes the President’s comment to businesses to raise wages, pay more taxes, face rising energy costs, move manufacturing back home and cut costs even more of a joke.
Put This In The “I Don’t Get It” Column Too
The ratings are out for the SOTU speech.
38.2 million people watched. That was 7.3 million less than the last SOTU (Trump).
It was up 42% from Biden’s speech to a joint session of congress last April.
However, here’s the part I don’t get.
TV Networks fight hourly for ratings. Someone creates a successful show or format and boom, there are knock offs on all the other stations. Except for this.
Here are the speech ratings:
Fox News drew the biggest audience numbers of all networks, with 7.2 million viewers.
ABC was next with 6.3 million. CBS followed with 4.9 million. CNN had 4.8 million, NBC 4.7 million and MSNBC with 4.1 million.
Fox wins every hour of the cable battle all seven days. Yet, the others will not adjust their coverage to win.
How interesting is that?
Finally, today a final thought on the SOTU and how things change.
How about the names and words that were never mentioned?
Examples:
Anthony Fauci – the former hero of Covid. The actual words Build Back Better. The country – Afghanistan.
A year ago they were all front and center.
