The STOU….

Proud to be ranked a top 50 Blog – feedspot.com.

Let me offer a few short thoughts on the SOTU last night because my thoughts are such. The President delivered the address well and strong. He hit the issues, his party stood and clapped often. I’m sure he and the party were satisfied.
Now some thoughts:

You Can Fool Some Of The People All The Time

First of all, if you think the state of the union or the state of the world is good, then you are reading this blog to see what the other side is thinking, because I don’t think either the union or world are well this day.
And to those who think it is well, well you are proof that:
“You can fool some of the people all the time.”

CONSIDER:

Let’s start with these numbers. 45 and 49. What are they? 45 is the number of years of the last 49 that President Biden has been in Washington as Senator (36), Vice President (8) and now President (1).
So all those problems he talked about developed and were begun under his watch. Now he’s the solution? Where was he when it mattered?
But then again, “You can fool some of the people all the time.”

Last night he said he wanted things made in America, not China. Where was he when the jobs left? Everyone left while he was in office.
During the campaign he said, “China is going to compete with us? C’mon on man.”
Now he is the solution?
But then again, “You can fool some of the people all the time.”

Isn’t oil production American jobs? He came in to an energy independent nation. He created a dependency — on Russia and Iran too!
He wants to get back at Putin. Is he stopping us from buying Russian oil? No. If he is stopping paying the lifeline (oil) for Russia? No. Is he bringing back oil jobs? No? He’s going to release oil reserves. That’s two days of supply.
But then again, “You can fool some of the people all the time.”

He wants to get Putin. Well, he has led from behind. He was late to help, and after Europe acted he followed. Last night he boldly said we will ban Russian flights over our airspace. He got a rousing hand. Europe did this two days ago. Leading from behind again.
But then again, “You can fool some of the people all the time.”

What caused the great boom of jobs under the previous administration? We lowered our corporate tax to be competitive and get manufacturing here. He wants the taxes reversed and raised. Is that how you get companies back?
But then again, “You can fool some of the people all the time.”

Let me get this right. The President said he wanted to raise minimum wage, increase corporate taxes and for businesses to lower their prices to fight inflation. Spoken like a true leader who never ran a business and spent his career in the government where bottom lines never mattered.
But then again, “You can fool some of the people all the time.”

He has fixed the border? No, he broke it and it is worse than ever. Ask the border guards.
But then again, “You can fool some of the people all the time.”

He and his administration don’t want to defund the police, they want to fund them. Well, a year ago we have you, your VP and party leaders talking defunding. I know today with crime (which you did not address) it is issue number one for every party; you changed your mind and claim you were always for police.
But then again, “You can fool some of the people all the time.”

Did you find it interesting that the day before the speech the CDC changed their mask rules? In this mostly senior home, no more masks. Two days ago, yes. Still, in some schools, among the least vunerable, they are forced to wear masks. If you think the science changed the day before well…
But then again, “You can fool some of the people all the time.”

In the end, I think the speech was well written with the goal of hitting hot buttons and getting applause lines for the TV audience and adoring media. The main point was the thought the party is in trouble and needs to reverse the course they are on for November. The opportunity was to use the speech to do that and see how many they can once again fool. Because if you believe Joe Biden led on Ukraine, closed the border, and was never for defunding the police, then you are one who can be fooled all the time.

45 out of the last 49 Years In Power In Washington. Now He Has The Solutions? I don’t think so.

But then again, you can fool some of the people all the time.
