Helping the VP
A group met with the VP and staff to try and work on her demeanor and public perception. Here’s the story with some comments in ( ) and bold by me.
A group of the Democratic Party’s most influential women met for dinner at a home in the nation’s capital last month to game out how to defend Vice President Kamala Harris and her chief of staff, Tina Flournoy, against a torrent of bad press. (Bad press? She’s lucky she’s a woman, minority and Democrat or she would see what bad press is.)
Why it matters: It’s telling that so early in the Biden-Harris administration, such powerful operatives felt compelled to try to right the vice president’s ship. (Because almost everything she has done has been a disaster.)
The host was Kiki McLean, a Democratic public affairs expert and former adviser to both Clintons. Her guests included Harris confidant Minyon Moore; two former DNC officials, Donna Brazile and Leah Daughtry; Biden adviser and leader of his outside group, Stephanie Cutter; former Hillary Clinton spokeswomen and Democratic strategists Adrienne Elrod and Karen Finney; and former Obama White House communications director Jennifer Palmieri.(Oh don’t we recognize those names.)
The dinner had an urgent purpose. Harris had been hit with a series of press accounts describing rampant dysfunction in her office.(Er, because there has been dysfunction.)
A person familiar with the dinner said the point was “how can this group be supportive from the outside” and ensure her team was “making the most of this moment — as the first woman of color in the White House.” The women discussed how they could leverage Harris’ record as a prosecutor, California attorney general and U.S. senator to blunt criticisms of her performance as vice president.(Okay.)
Another source familiar with the dinner said attendees saw sexist overtones to the Harris coverage, and discussed how they could “make sure the press knows this.””Many of us lived through the Clinton campaign, and want to help curb some of the gendered dynamics in press coverage that impacted HRC,” this source said. “It was like: ‘We’ve seen this before.'” (Oh sure it’s sexist and racist, not her performance. Is this why she had to drop out of the primary before the first caucus in Iowa?)
Maybe when they finish here they can go over the White House and help. The approval numbers there are dropping. Then with 2022 maybe they can help Nancy and the House, because they’re to lose control there.
Nice To Have Friends. Here’s Another Story
President Biden nominated Mark Brzezinski to be ambassador to Poland. Who is he? Well his Dad was Zbigniew Brzezinski, national security adviser for President Jimmy Carter. You know how great that foreign policy was. Oh yea, one more connection. The President called his sister, Mika Brzezinski of “Morning Joe,” to congratulate her. You know, that show that is 100% in his corner. Nice to have friends.
I Wonder Why – No, I Know Why
A record number of Americans in 2020 denounced their U.S. citizenship. In fact there was a 237% increase over 2019. Remember when you denounce it requires taking an oath in front of a State Department officer. So its serious and for real. Who’s doing it and why?
The study said that the people who flee tend to be the ultra-wealthy, seeking to reduce their taxes. The fear is that new tax and estate measures proposed by the administration could, if implemented, accelerate this trend.
Thus, its not all those who promised to leave if Trump won, but those who are because he lost and taxes are rising.
Here’s an interesting report from David Lesperance, an international tax lawyer based in Poland who specializes in helping people renounce U.S. citizenship:
“There are probably 20,000 or 30,000 people who want to do this, but they can’t get the appointment. It’s a year and a half to get an appointment at a Canadian embassy … Bern [Switzerland] alone has a backlog of over 300 cases.”
What they’re watching: The President’s proposal to raise the top capital gains rate to 43.4% prompted a lot of calls from people wanting to find out which foreign countries might grant them citizenship.
Why Isn’t There Media Coverage Of This
On Wednesday ten people were killed and a dozen more injured Wednesday in a crash in Texas involving a van carrying migrants.
The County Sheriff (Benny Martinez) said the driver was among those dead at the scene. He said the van was top-heavy and tipped over. He said there was no pursuit of the van.
The deaths are the latest in a growing, grisly toll of migrants who have lost their lives amid the border surge that began with the new administration, particularly on the roads. Thirteen migrants were killed in a crash in southern California in March after barreling through a hole in the border wall.
We hear so much about Jan. 6th, Charlottesville, and gun violence. Why not these deaths? Do they not matter, or does it not fit the left and media narrative?
It’s the media folks, its the media.
What A Joke
The Mexican government filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Boston. They said that the gun makers have been complicit in driving the violence committed by drug cartels and other criminal groups.
Criminal-gang violence in Mexico has claimed more than 150,000 lives since 2006.
Mexico said 68% of the guns smuggled into the country each year come from the companies named in the suit—Smith & Wesson, Barrett Firearms, Colt’s Manufacturing and Glock—equivalent to more than 300,000 weapons.
Mexico is suing U.S. companies for violence in their country. They are seeking $10 billion dollars!
Think about this, they are suing our companies for violence!!!!
After all, haven’t they done a great job with their drug cartels? Are they serious? The cartels are running them.
I have an idea for you. Try controlling your border so you know what is leaving and coming in. Try controlling the drug cartels that are committing the violence and running you.
Your lawsuit has no chance. Doing your job running a real government is your answer.
I Watched And It Angers Me
I watched the President and Vice President once again use Jan. 6th to make political points. This time they gave out medals to the police and responders. That part doesn’t anger me, I support it. What does anger me is you continue to treat this day as if all the other riots, police injuries and deaths never happened. Why? WHY? WHY? Because this was in Washington? Because it was close to your home? Every town that had riots and upheaval suffered more police injuries. Why can’t you recognize and back them? Minneapolis, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, Portland and more. Do you know they happened and what those officers went through? Sickening how you disregard them all.
And while you’re at it. Why don’t you ask the House Leader why there wasn’t more support for the officers that day? Why don’t you ask your FBI head if they didn’t warn more assistance was needed? Why is this so one sided? It angers me.
