Questions, This N That…

Question, Who, How, What, Where, When

just thinking and questioning today

So John Kerry told European leaders this on our behalf:
“We’re proud to be back. We come back, I want you to know, with humility, for the absence of the last four years, and we’ll do everything in our power to make up for it.”
Make up for what, may I ask?
We exceeded the agreement on climate goals. Are you saying we are going to double payments that we were over paying to start with?
Al Gore chimed in: “Thanks to American voters, we are back in the Agreement.”

So, Schumer and McConnell reach an agreement on power sharing after the filibuster comes off the table. It came off because two Democratic Senators, Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona and Joe Manchin of West Virginia, said they are for keeping it. Thus Schumer doesn’t have 50 votes.
I trust Sinema even if one Republican switches.

On the senate, another Republican, Rob Portman of Ohio, announced he is not running in 2022. That puts at least two seats in jeopardy with Toomey of PA also not running. Early outlook is that Republicans may actually have a better chance in the House than the Senate in 22.

After that solemn walk across chambers to deliver the impeachment papers it was announced that Chief Justice Roberts will not be presiding over the trial.
Of course not, he does only sitting Presidents, not retired ones. Why? Because impeachment is removal from office, not for vendettas.
So who is presiding?
Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont, the longest-serving Democratic senator. No problem there!

Dominion Voting Systems is suing Rudy Guilani for $1.3 billion for what he said about their machines. Their claim is Rudy spread false allegations against the company that “foreseeably went viral and deceived millions of people into believing that Dominion had stolen their votes and fixed the election.”
Rudy’s reaction is the lawsuit would “allow me to investigate their history, finances, and practices fully and completely,” and said he may file a countersuit.
Game on.

Remember all the noise about President Trump’s pardons. Here’s some final stats you won’t hear from the MSM:
“Trump granted 237 acts of clemency during his four years in the White House, including 143 pardons and 94 commutations. Only two other presidents since 1900  (George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush), granted fewer acts of clemency.
“Barack Obama granted clemency 1,927 times over the course of eight years in office, the highest total of any president going back to Harry Truman. Obama’s total was skewed heavily toward commutations (1,715) with 212 pardons.”

Yesterday we talked of government handouts versus jobs. Here’s a quote from Senator Manchin on the same:
“I don’t ever remember F.D.R. recommending sending a damn penny to a human being. He gave ’em a job and gave ’em a paycheck. Can’t we start some infrastructure program to help people, get ’em back on their feet?”

Speaking of West Virginia they have led the way with the vaccine roll out using 88 percent of its allotted doses.

President Biden is banning travel from South Africa. This, to contain a variant of the virus detected there. He will also extend travel restrictions on other parts including Brazil, the United Kingdom, Ireland and 26 countries in Europe that allow travel across open borders.
I guess the only way in the U.S. these days is across the southern border. Must be no virus there.

Did you see or hear this?
China sanctioned from visiting, former Trump administration officials include former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, White House economic adviser Peter Navarro, National Security Adviser Robert C. O’Brien, Deputy National Security Adviser Matthew Pottinger, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex M. Azar II, and U.N. Ambassador Kelly Kraft, as well as former administration officials John R. Bolton and Stephen Bannon.
“These individuals and their immediate family members are prohibited from entering the mainland [of China], Hong Kong and Macao. They and companies and institutions associated with them are also restricted from doing business with China,” the spokesperson said.

Xinhua News who reported the story also made no secret of its feelings about tweeting: “Good riddance, Donald Trump!”
Imagine China likes President Biden better than President Trump.

Remember the old saying, “you can tell a man by his friends and enemies.”

Finally, the Pillow Man (Mike Lindell) has been permanently banned from Twitter for his efforts to prove fraud in the election.
Send me a list of those barred for the false Russian Collusion story. I am having trouble locating it.
