Just Some Interesting Things In The News

A judge on Tuesday gave the green light to a lawsuit that aims to stop the delayed construction of former President Barack Obama’s $500 million presidential center in a Chicago park beside Lake Michigan.

Imagine that, the Obama Library challenged because it is taking public land.

Did You See This From A CBS Reporter?
Reporters have become “political activists” and even “propagandists,” CBS News’ foreign correspondent Lara Logan said. She added:
“The media everywhere is mostly liberal”.
“Most journalists are left or liberal or Democrat or whatever word you want to give it.”
She added, journalistic standards have been lowered, resulting in “horses–t” reporting.
“I mean, you read one story or another and hear it and it’s all based on one anonymous administration official, former administration official,” she said. “That’s not journalism. That’s horses–t. Sorry. That is absolute horses–t.”

We agree.

The rush to believe Jussie Smollett is looking worse daily. Now not only is he suspected of faking a hate crime against himself; but he has a criminal record — for providing false information to authorities before.
Apparently he was arrested in LA for DUI and gave police false information. He said he was his brother.

Interesting now to watch how the politicians and media backtrack.

So now, Hoda Muthana, a 24-year-old American woman who left the United States to join ISIS five years ago, is really sorry and wants to come home. It can’t be because we destroyed the last ISIS stronghold can it? I mean she didn’t see the light now because of that did she?
Let’s see, three husbands, all killed by the allied forces and she is ready to come home. Hmm.
We say welcome home and welcome to trial as a traitor. If convicted you pay the price. It’s a steep one.
Sorry, no amnesty. Jimmy Carter gave amnesty, as his first official act as President, to those who left the country and refused to serve. We never forgave him, and those who left didn’t take up arms and do propaganda for the enemy.
She did say “I believe that America gives second chances.” That’s true Hoda, but your second chance is after you pay the price for your first act.

When you wonder why people and the Republican party are not loyal to President Trump think of these two stories as examples:

“As federal prosecutors in Manhattan gathered evidence late last year about President Trump’s role in silencing women with hush payments during the 2016 campaign, Mr. Trump called Matthew G. Whitaker, his newly installed attorney general, with a question. He asked whether Geoffrey S. Berman, the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York and a Trump ally, could be put in charge of the widening investigation, according to several American officials with direct knowledge of the call.

“Mr. Whitaker, who had privately told associates that part of his role at the Justice Department was to ‘jump on a grenade’ for the president, knew he could not put Mr. Berman in charge because Mr. Berman had already recused himself from the investigation. Reasonable right?

The president soon soured on Mr. Whitaker, as he often does with his aides, and complained about his inability to pull levers at the Justice Department that could make the president’s many legal problems go away.

Now the story is that the President is angry at Matt Whitaker. If true, why would you put your career on the line to defend the President?

Story Two In Today’s News:

The President is frustrated with  Dan Coats, leading some to fear he might “be fired”“President Trump has grown increasingly disenchanted with Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats, who has served as the nation’s top intelligence official for nearly two years, leading some administration officials to worry he will soon be dismissed, according to people familiar with the matter.

“Trump is still ‘enraged’ about Coats’s congressional testimony on national security threats last month, believing that the director undercut the president’s authority when he shared intelligence assessments about Iran, North Korea and the Islamic State that are at odds with many of Trump’s public statements … Privately, the president has continued to fume, and this weekend he told the adviser that Coats, a former Republican senator from Indiana, is ‘not loyal’ and ‘he’s not on the team.'”

Think about that. Coats, the head of National Intelligence (along with the others who testified), did not believe North Korea. The President is angry because of that and wants to fire him.
Does that get you loyalty or a desire to serve?

Now you see why Republicans don’t want to be all out front for the President.

Which is why congressional leaders likely didn’t object to the FBI’s probe of Mr. Trump’s ties to Russia. Yesterday, former deputy director Andrew McCabe said on NBC they didn’t object at all. The revelation adds a new wrinkle to criticism from Mr. Trump and his Republican allies about the FBI’s decision to open the investigation.

Now at first you say that’s impossible. But twenty-four hours later not a single Republican who was in the room disputed that.

We repeat again, the President has no party behind him. He has the Democrats out to get him on anything possible, and no party defending him. Why? He is not loyal to them and they are not going to be loyal to him, unless their futures are at stake.

Some Democrats are realizing the party is too far left.

Look at these comments yesterday as some realize we are too far out there: Reporter to Kamela Harris: “Bernie Sanders jumped into the presidential race today. You said that you are not a democratic socialist.”
Harris: “I am not.” …
Reporter: “Let me ask you about health care. You had said at one point that you thought it would be OK to eliminate private insurance, now I realize that you are on separate bills that would not go that far. Do you think eliminating private insurance would be a socialist idea?”
HARRIS“No — OK, so, my — I strongly believe that we need to have Medicare for all. And within that system, there –“Reporter“Do you think that’s socialist or not?” HARRIS“No, no. It’s about providing health care to all people.”

So Harris is backing off the “socialist” label as she is running from Jussie.

Then there are Amy Klobuchar and Sherod Brown:

They have made clear that they will chart a slightly different course than other major Democratic candidates like Sanders and Warren.
Ms. Klobuchar, for instance, laid out a vision of fiscal restraint that is at odds with the ambitious and likely costly proposals put forth by other candidates.

“If I was a magic genie and could give that to everyone and we could afford it, I would,”  when asked about her position on free four-year college tuition. Ms. Klobuchar said such a proposal would be too costly.

Winning a primary with far left positions is not good for the general election. In 1964 the Republicans learned this going far right of the country with Barry Goldwater and losing big. In 1972 the Democrats went far left with George McGovern and learned a lesson. If the Democrats go socialist in 2020 the beneficiary is Donald Trump.
