There used to be a TV news show entitled “The Week That Was”.
Well, now we have Trump and the MSM. Every week is a week that was.
This was just another tumultuous one in Trump’s Washington and across America. Look at the activity:
There was a bomber in Texas, who blew himself up when cornered. The MSM covered this extensively, initially speculating it was racial bias. It wasn’t, and with no AR15 used they had to cover a crazed person story.
A school shooter in Maryland, who used a handgun, was killed by a security officer on campus — but it got little coverage. It did not fit the MSM narrative for extensive coverage. Imagine, a hero officer on site! Nothing to cover there.
Facebook had people use its data, much of the same data they sell to research companies, but wait, the company had a connection to Trump. “Collusion” says the MSM. After all, there has to be a reason Hillary lost.
First a porn star, now a former Playboy Playmate want to tell Donald Trump stories. As long as the media is paying for appearances expect more to come out. The MSM loves it. The blue dress and charges of rape in the 90’s White House? The media knew they were bimbo’s. Now these wholesome women taken advantage of by Donald Trump are the story.
Someone leaked the private message from the security agencies to Trump not to congratulate Putin. Trump did anyway. We bet it was a layover Obama appointee, but the MSM “knows” it had to be a disgruntled Trump one.
Because of the leak, a cult media arose saying Putin has some dirt on Trump, led by John Brennan, former CIA head under Obama. MSNBC was wall to wall with this.
Trump went on the road and called for the death penalty for drug dealers. It will never happen, or even be voted on, but made for good TV and liberal shock.
With funding running out to keep the government afloat, the Dem and Rep leaders in the house and senate made a deal.
It funded everything, except the wall. Now neither Congress nor Mexico wants to fund it.
The loser? The deficit. Does anyone care about the deficit anymore?
Joe Biden said he would have taken Trump behind the high school wall and beaten him up. Trump said not then, nor now, could that have happened. It gave the MSM a chance to tout Biden and talk about the 2020 race.
Trump’s tariffs moved to implementation by weeks end. The stock market reacted and tumbled and tumbled and then some more.
Overnight the Chinese reacted with 128 products they will target for tariffs. Among them, Pork, wine, fruit and steel. If they follow through, the stock market will react again as it did Thursday. In the interim watch the news media cover the stare down and pass blame for the market decline. Forget the 30+% growth, the decline belongs to Trump.
The President’s lead lawyer quit. The same person who called for an end to the Mueller probe earlier in the week. Well, something ended, but it was his time on the case. The MSM saw it as just more turmoil in the WH and trying to protect Trump.
The Fed raised its rates and promised more to come. The market sank some more.
It turns out that Andrew McCabe, fired by Jeff Sessions for not telling all, was the one who investigated Sessions for the same after his congressional hearing. The MSM tried to tie the two together.
Then last night it was announced that HR McMaster is leaving his position as head of the NSC. Just more turnover in this turnover administration; or maybe he was the leaker earlier in the week? In either case, John Bolton, the far right replacement will be the third NSC head in the first 14 months. The MSM is going to have a lot to say about Bolton.
All this and we have today to go. There is much more in a Trump week and you must be wired in all the time or you miss the show.
Two Poll Results
One, the Rasmussen poll, said there are 68 Republican Congressional Seats that are in possible danger in 2018. Remember, 23 make Nancy Pelosi speaker. They categorized the 68 this way:
- 28 Republican seats are at a high level of risk.
- 14 are “moderately competitive” and lean Republican.
- 26 others could be at risk depending on the “political environment” in the fall. The second poll was a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
Look at these results regarding school safety.
– About 75 percent of adults say they want armed security guards in school.
– 53 percent are in favor of publicly funding gun classes for teachers and school personnel.
– 45 percent say school staff should be encouraged to carry a weapon.
– 91 percent say anyone with a history of mental illness should be banned from owning a gun.
– 84 percent of Republicans believe people on the “no-fly” list should be banned from gun ownership
– 83 percent are in favor of expanding background checks.
– A majority of Republicans also say that assault weapons and high capacity ammunition clips should be outlawed.
What? Stop arresting illegals?
Here’s the story this AM in a Washington newspaper:
“Civil rights groups said Wednesday that sanctuary city policies aren’t enough to thwart President Trump and called on state and local governments to stop enforcing what they deemed low-level crimes in order to keep immigrants off the Trump administration’s radar altogether.
A report for the Century Foundation, a liberal think tank, and the Massachusetts chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union says that even in places where localities have refused to cooperate with deportation efforts, illegal immigrants are spotted by federal authorities when they show up in databases after arrests.
The answer, the groups said, is for local police to stop arresting immigrants — particularly those who are also racial, religious or sexual minorities — with crimes such as drug offenses, driving without a license, larceny and trespassing”.
There’s more.
“Another option is to reduce criminal penalties so legal immigrants convicted of offenses don’t rise to the level of being targets for deportation, the advocates said.
Denver has already done just that by cutting the sentences for some offenses to a maximum of 364 days rather than a full year. That change of a single day drops those offenders lower on the federal deportation priority list.”
This story doesn’t even deserve a comment. Imagine these liberal groups caring less about the safety of you and your family and more about the criminal who also happens to also be illegally here.
