Pennsylvania Election
It’s no surprise to readers of this blog that Democrats won the special election last night. Last year in every special election you may recall, Republicans barely held seats that they had won handily in 2016. The seats were opened as the congressional person moved into the cabinet. The closeness told you all you need to know.
This Pennsylvania seat open because of a scandal was prime to switch. The Democrats nominated a middle to right leaning candidate. The Republicans, a not so dynamic one. Add the anti administration people are clearly motivated to vote and all the elements were in place.
Come November, we have said this since the election in 2016, we expect to see Nancy Pelosi back as speaker.
The question is can Republicans hold the senate. They should be able too.
One thing about this idea that Democrat is a middle to the right candidate and no so far left. Just watch how he votes when it matters. Just like all those Democratic senators in red states, they are non partisan; until their vote matters.
Then they support party. It matters.
Tillerson
We were excited when he was chosen for the role after the election. A successful businessman running a global corporation, we thought he could make an impact. For varied reasons it never worked out. Chief among them were these.
It is very hard to get along with this President. He makes loyalty difficult.
They had differing viewpoints and thoughts on the world. Really different ideas on Iran, N.Korea and world issues. This did not sit well with the President.
Think about this. Tillerson a global CEO ran Exxon-Mobil and its global employees to record heights. He was honored wherever he went and had solid relationships with global head of states. He becomes Secretary of State and is treated not so royally by the President. He was publicly called an “idiot” and challenged over who had a higher IQ by the President. Then finds out he is fired in a tweet. Truly shameful in our opinion for a man who earned such respect.
His replacement Mike Pompey is a good choice and will do a solid job. He just better not be a rubber stamp for every Trump idea, and fight back when he disagrees. He will get past the approval process easily.
Not so for the new nominee for head of CIA. Gina Haspel is the first woman nominated for the role. In another administration that would be the news; but here it will be all about her ties to past interrogations. After 9/11 she was involved in the government ordered and approved tough questioning with water boarding. The holier than thou senators (Democrats and John McCain) will make that a big issue.
In the end she’ll get through, as she should, but anything to make noise.
House Report On Collusion
You saw the Republican approved House Report saying there was no collusion. Well now Adam Schiff and the Democrats are promising there own “blockbuster” report to say otherwise.
It better be more than his report to answer the Republican memo a few weeks ago. That effort was lacking and was an embarrassment to him.
Stormy Daniels
Boy she has gotten MSM coverage. So she an affair with Donald Trump years ago, not my issue. It sounds like Melania needs to be the one offended not me. Yet the MSM seems to be making this the biggest thing ever. Now, if he did in the oval office while President I would be care.
You know what strikes us the most over this?
Hillary called those accusing her husband of rape and forcing sex on them “bimbo’s”. Remember that? Well Juanita Broderick, Kathleen Wiley and Paula Jones were not “bimbo’s”. They were law abiding and in most cases religious persons who felt attacked. Yet the media and Clinton administration went along with the “bimbo” positioning.
Guess what? Stormy Daniels is a bimbo. Someone tell the MSM.
Speaking of Hillary
Stop already. Your excuses and charges are doing nothing more than harming your reputation and further damaging your husband’s historic standing. You lost. Get over it. The deplorables and people you attack simply don’t like you. Keep talking and you add to their ranks. Some Dems are now turning on you.
Sanctuary Cities and States
A big decision in the Texas courts yesterday that did not receive much MSM coverage:
States have the power to punish sanctuary cities within their borders and to force local police and sheriff’s departments to cooperate in turning over illegal immigrants to the federal government for deportation, an appeals court ruled Tuesday in upholding a Texas law.
The 3-0 decision by a panel of the 5th Court of Appeals marks a major victory for Governor Abbott in Texas (and President Trump nationally), who have demanded punishment for sanctuary cities that thwart the government over illegal immigrants.
