Taxes:
Are you serious? The Senate has a tax program in answer to the House and it’s far different. Really? After what happened with healthcare the Republican leadership still can’t get its act together? It makes you say they don’t deserve to govern, but then the one alternative is the other party and we tried that. What a mess.
So the two competing plans differ in a few areas. Let’s start with seven brackets versus four. Seven is what we have now, is that reform? One does away with the estate tax, the other maintains it. One does away with drop to $500K for mortgage deductions, the other doesn’t. One does away with all local tax deductions, the other allows $10K. It goes on. They have a lot to reconcile.
You know why all the differences? Suddenly some senators have found out we have a budget deficit and they want to cut it. Many Democrats, too. Where were they all when Obama doubled the country’s deficit from every President up to him? One administration doubled it. Now everyone has religion.
Thus tax cuts they say will add to the deficit. Well when Reagan dropped the rates (larger than this), you know what, revenue exploded. You know what else did? Congressional spending despite a promise to cut it. You see tax cuts drive the economy and drive government revenue. The problem we have is a spending one. The government spends too much. In all this talk of tax cuts and deficit have you heard anyone talk of holding spending? Of course not, and that my friends is the problem. It was never you are taxed too little, it is they spend too much.
Sexual Assualts:
The charges against Senatorial candidate Moore in Alabama is shocking. This is the man who refused to remove the ten commandments from his court room and lost his job. We read the story and it sounds plausible. If there is an iota of truth, Moore must quit the race today. Failure to do so will drive this red state to elect his opponent and drive the senate tipping closer before next year.
Then came the Louis C.K. charges. Disgusting and what a cesspool this is all turning out to be. With more to come.
When a country loses its values it loses its sense of being. We have long felt that America was losing its values, and with that comes an inability to decide right from wrong. What was clear to our Grandparents and past generations is unclear now. This breakdown is speeding up and has to be a concern to us all.
Other:
Here’s an example of disgusting.
“Actress Mila Kunis revealed this week that she has been donating to Planned Parenthood each month in Vice President Mike Pence’s name. Every month to his office, he gets a little letter that says like, ‘an anonymous donation has been made in your name’”.
Think about that. She is donating to anti abortion in the VP’s name because he believes in protection for the unborn. What a disgrace.
New York City’s subway authority issued a bulletin to all staff telling them to stop addressing riders as “ladies and gentlemen”. Why you ask?
“They are acknowledging that they have some transgender riders. They don’t want to offend anyone”.
What confused us was if you associated with a different gender weren’t you still a lady or gentlemen?
Yesterday we saw the hearing for the President’s candidate to replace John Kelly as head of Homeland Security. Don’t you think it would have been wise to select one who agreed with him on the wall and illegals? It was clear she didn’t. We can’t understand why.
Which leads us to say that the President is part of the reason everything is so chaotic. He has not adjusted to the political world and continues to act and do things as if he were running a private company. Think of how far out front he has been with congress when they pass a healthcare or tax bill. It’s the best thing ever for the American people. Then the other chamber gets it and he goes with them as the best. (In fact, after the house passed the greatest house bill, he was with the senate and called it mean). The same now with the tax bill. He needs to lead, but as long as his ego gets in the way there will be issue.
Just to end the week on a different note did you see this?
TMZ reported that OJ Simpson had been frequenting the bar at the Cosmopolitan Hotel since his prison release in Nevada last month.
He now is reportedly barred, allegedly getting drunk and becoming unruly.
What a surprise. At his release hearing he said he had not had a drink in 8 years and didn’t miss it. Uh uh.
Maybe the “real killer” was hiding there.
