Mueller Acts
As soon as we heard the charges against Paul Manafort and Rick Gates we thought, “Wait, this has nothing to do with Trump and collusion”. It has to do with his past. They better have more.
Now, an hour later, the story on George Papadopoulos broke and our immediate thought was “This is far bigger than the charges against Manafort”. And it is.
What we don’t understand is why Papadopoulous lied to begin with. He was free to have meetings and gather information on Hillary. Why lie that you didn’t, unless you were covering up something bigger?
All we know now is that he met with an insider, who talked to Russians. We understand they never got anything, and yet he lied about it.
There has to be more here.
Now you hear the Democrats and liberals saying he met with a Russian agent to gather data on Hillary. The only difference between that and what Hillary’s campaign and the DNC did was the later paid money for it. Yet that doesn’t seem to come up and be an issue to Democrats, liberals and the MSM.
I can’t even begin to understand that.
Finally, the news broke on Tony Podesta. He didn’t resign as chair of the Podesta Group for just any reason. I know his brother will “know nothing” here too, but something big is going to break here.
Bottom line on our assessment. Manafort and Gates are window dressing. The news is Papadopoulous and Podesta. Watch.
One final thought on all this breaking. Think about this. The Trump team is being investigated because it was looking for data on the Clinton’s. Manafort faces 20 years. Gates the same. Papadopoulous is now a felon. The Special Prosecutor continues delving into Trump and his people. On the other side, Podesta resigns because he was working with the Clinton’s.
The Clinton’s?
Nothing, they just skate on by.
Beyond Words
George Washington was one of the founding members of Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia. In fact, he bought pew No. 5 when the church opened in 1773 and attended for more than two decades whenever he rode north from Mount Vernon to do business.
This weekend, the church announced it was pulling down a memorial plaque to our country’s first president, saying he and another famous parishioner, Robert E. Lee, have become so controversial that they are chasing away would be parishioners.
That’s George Washington, the Father of our country, who bought pew 5.
Sunday’s New York Times
Try this headline and story on for size. We had to read it twice:
Trump’s Legacy: Damaged Brains
By Nicholas Kristof
President Trump’s E.P.A. is fine with children eating food tainted by a pesticide derived from a nerve gas.
The newspaper of record! They used to say “All the news fit to print”.
I think they forgot there is fairness, truth and unprintable too.
Not MSM Worthy
Here’s another story that you may have not seen on the MSM, but we think should have been covered:
President Donald Trump announced Monday that US special forces had captured a man linked to the 2012 attack on the American mission in Benghazi. Yea, that Benghazi.
Here’s what the President said:
The capture took place “on my orders” and, as a result, “al-Imam will face justice in the United States for his alleged role in the September 11, 2012 attacks in Benghazi.”
Did you hear it?
From the WSJ/NBC PollPresident
President Trump’s approval rating has fallen to its lowest level since he took office, with Americans disapproving of his performance as commander in chief.
Trump’s job approval rating stood at 38%, a five point drop from September. Over all, 58% said they disapproved of the job he has done.
The survey found a dip in his support among political independents—and signs of erosion among some of the president’s core voters.
What surprised us the most were these numbers:
By a five point margin—42% to 37%—Americans in the survey approved of Mr. Trump’s handling of the economy.
You would think with the jobs created, unemployment down and the stock market way up he would at least get credit here. It shows the depth of opposition he has.
The NFL Mess
The Houston Texans kneeling on Sunday was over comments from the team owner. That seems to say that kneeling has moved beyond racial injustice to other issues. Won’t that just inflame those who are angry at kneeling? There issue is the flag deserves respect, now we have people kneeling for multiple issues. This is getting bigger and dividing people.
By the way, on Sunday night the World Series trounced NFL football in the overnight ratings (12.8 to 9.4%).
The Ratings
With Laura Ingraham (10:00) and Shannon Bream (11:00) shows debuting on Fox this week, it should cause some rating adjustment. Laura will likely win that 10:00 slot, which will drive Laurence O’Donnell crazy. At 11:00 Brian Williams has owned the time period because he was live. This one will be close now.
