The President Makes A Deal — With Schumer and Pelosi
What you say? You read that right. He made a deal to get funding for a three month continuous resolution, Harvey funding and a debt ceiling raise. His leaders (Ryan and McConnell) wanted an 18 month timeframe. It was clear the President decided to side with the Democrats.
Let there be no doubt this was a shot at Ryan and McConnell. He was saying you can’t get anything done, I will make my own deals. From the outset the relationship between Trump and the Republican establishment has been non existent.
Remember this deal in December when it has to be done again. Let’s see where everyone falls then.
Then the President goes to North Dakota and ….
Well isn’t that great for her (Sen. Heidi Heitkamp) and the Democrats. Where was she on the healthcare vote and cabinet members when it mattered? You think maybe supporting Republicans in states like this so you can win some votes might be a better idea?
Did you know this?
Did you know a Senator can stop a Federal Court appointment by not returning his “blue slip”? As President Trump attempts to appoint conservatives and move the courts to the right we have this story:
Sen. Al Franken said Tuesday that he will use an arcane Senate tradition to try to derail one of President Trump’s appeals court nominees, marking an escalation in what has become a fight over the shape of the federal judiciary.
Senator Franken said he won’t return his “blue slip” for Minnesota Supreme Court Justice David Stras, the President’s nominee for the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Under Senate tradition, the chamber won’t proceed on a judicial nominee unless both home-state senators return their blue slips, signifying acquiescence in the pick.
Senator Franken said he is objecting because Judge Stras looks to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and the late Justice Antonin Scalia as role models. And what did we vote?
Let’s see how the leaders of both parties react to this.
Trey Gowdy: FBI not cooperating on Trump dossier:
The Washington Examiner reports, that a key House committee investigating an opposition-research dossier containing salacious details on Donald Trump has reportedly subpoenaed personally the heads of both the FBI and the Justice Department over their agencies’ noncooperation with the panel’s previous efforts.
The panel wants to know what relationship the FBI and Justice had with Christopher Steele, the document’s compiler, and whether it was used to justify spying on Mr. Trump during the presidential campaign.
The House panel had subpoenaed the FBI and Justice both for documents related to those matters, to be provided by Sept. 1. “We got nothing,” Rep. Trey Gowdy, South Carolina Republican and an Intelligence panel member said. “The witnesses have not been produced and the documents have not been produced.”
Doesn’t it seem this failure to provide an adequate investigation into the Clinton’s and anything helpful to Trump can’t get off the ground?
