Once again we say for a successful business person, who came to the WH known for selecting great people and being the best deal maker, the President has seemed anything but that.
Does anyone think he had a true grasp of the healthcare bill details? Would a great deal maker lose by one vote? Would you expect him to claim victory with the house members, then call the bill they passed “mean”? Would that make future deals easier?
If he was so great at picking people and building organizations why is the WH in such disarray? Why can’t he arrange an organizational chart with clear reporting procedures? That’s a basic business function.
These failures are hurting his presidency, but nothing more than his ill timed and off message tweets. The latest greatest example is on healthcare.
The President’s immediate reaction (repeated many times later) as the Senate bill failed was this, “Let Obamacare implode”. We couldn’t think of a worst statement for him to make. Consider these facts:
- He just lost by a single vote on a signature issue of his campaign and party.
- Three people in his party abandoned him and refused to give him the win.
- Not a single member of the opposition party could he get to support him.So now the old law stays in place, the one he and his team said was imploding and going to hurt people. What road does he take? He says let it implode and watch what happens. What is wrong with that and what should he have done is this:
- Take the high road and tell the American people as President he is concerned about their health programs and where this is going.
- Explain that he is going to work with everyone to do what he can while we cantinue to seek alternatives.
- Explain he sees costs skyrocketing and insurers continuing to leave, and he is open to ideas from those who said no as to how to protect those who need the coverage.
- LOOK like you care and meet with people, but hold the line on spending and bailouts. After meetings stick to your message of concern but no real solution.
- Let the blame fall where it lies, with those who added an entitlement without adequate funding. Then as the costs sky rocket and insurers leave let the people who passed it and refused to support chaneg pay the price. Simple right?
So, what does the President do? He boldly states let it implode which will allow the Democrats to say he wanted it to fail, he refused to listen, to support to find a solution. They will quote him over and over. Instead of taking the high road and winning from losing the President will end up losing twice.
Here come General Kelly:
The General is a true leader and manager. He will bring sanity and organization to the WH. What he can’t fix is the President’s tweets that take them off message. So expect better, but not a total fix as General Kelly takes charge.
The Ratings:
MSNBC is in a roll. They won Thursday and when the numbers come out will have won the week. Fox will hold on and win July, but August may see a changing of the guard.
Fox major problem is they have the wrong show at 9:00. The Five should be at 5:00. It is not a 9:00 show. Move Martha MacCallum there is our suggestion again.
