Have you noticed?
That since Jared Kushner testified Monday before the senate intelligence committee that the media hasn’t been yelling Russia all day? By all accounts he was clear that there was no collusion and not a single negative comment has come out about him. Interesting isn’t it?
So what took it’s place?
The Attorney General controversy. The same AG that the MSM and liberal Democrats said was a racist and unfit for the office is now their hero.
The President has turned his friends against him on this and needs to fix it. In fact, at least ten senators have come out and said Sessions should not resign and called upon the President to cease.
In addition, the leading candidate for the seat in Alabama has volunteered to leave the race and allow Sessions to run. Imagine that.
Late yesterday afternoon the President gave them another issue to call him on. This time it was transsexuals in the military. Out of no where and without warning (apparently his staff and departments were for the most part in the dark) were stunned by the new tweeted policy. Yes tweeted. It wasn’t announced or done in a press release. It was tweeted.
Who decided the President should change his mind and campaign promise? If you find out let us know.
The MSM loved these and you hear them over and over now.
Then the tax surprise. Were you as surprised as us when you saw that the President said he may raise taxes on high income earners? Now we don’t necessarily disagree that those making $5 million or more annually could pay a little more, but this pronouncement came out of the blue. The President’s argument is he wants to lower taxes on the middle and lower earners.
Now wouldn’t this policy dent the Democrats argument that Republicans want to give the wealthy a raise while taxing the poor? Of course the Democrats say the wealthy are those earning $250,000. Now that’s a difference.
How much revenue would a tax above $5M produce? $18 billion a year, $180 billion over a decade.
The MSM didn’t cover this one. Why? They don’t know yet how to attack on this. They favor taxes on the rich. They’re working on why at $250,000 you are rich enough.
The President continues to be his own best salesperson and worst enemy. By the time you read this who knows what he will have tweeted.
Healthcare:
After the 50/50 vote to even debate replacing Obamacare the Senate Majority Leader got a vote today on something he did for 8 years. It was a vote to repeal Obamacare. You know those senators who every year voted to repeal, but knew this time it mattered. Well this time, because it mattered, it didn’t pass. The vote 45 to repeal, 55 voting no.
Is there a solution? We still don’t see it. You can’t lower costs, increase coverage and choices while insuring all. They may find a way to take some small pieces out, but the increased government spending through Medicaid will stay. Once you create an entitlement it stays.
The Ratings:
MSNBC continues its run. Trump tweets, the MSM riles up the populance and the anti people tune in to what they call the “opposition stations”. It’s working really well for MSNBC.
In fact, the network won the weekday cable news ratings race in key dayparts and in key metrics for the first time in its 21 year old history. Fox managed to hold on and win Primetime but the gap is closing.
Here’s the top 5 Primetime cable stations for the week of July 17th:
