An Interesting Monday …..

Jared Speaks:
“Let me be very clear,” he said in front of the White House about an hour after his closed-door meeting with members of the Senate Intelligence Committee. “I did not collude with Russia, nor do I know of anyone else in the campaign who did so. I had no improper contacts. I have not relied on Russian funds for my businesses. I have been fully transparent in providing all requested information.”

Seems pretty clear to us. If Donald Jr. and Paul Manafort say the same later this week, then what with all these investigative committees?

Trump news not on the MSM:
1. From Harvard’s Kennedy School’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy a study released by Professor Thomas E. Patterson, titled “News Coverage of Donald Trump’s First 100 Days.”  The findings:
According to the report, Trump has received unquestioned negative coverage for most weeks of his presidency, without a single major topic where coverage, on balance, was more positive than negative, setting a new standard for unfavorable press coverage of a president.”

Not a single major topic of more positive than negative coverage. That is insane. In fact, when they averaged out the tone of news coverage during his first 100 days, it was 80 percent negative coverage.

How does this compare to some previous presidents in their first 100 days in office? Mr. Obama received only 41 percent negative coverage. Former President George W. Bush received 57 percent negative coverage. And, former President Bill Clinton received 60 percent negative coverage.
The hostility for our president is obvious and the Democrats claim that Mr. Obama was treated worse more often is clearly wrong.

On CNN, NBC, ABC and CBS, coverage was negative over 90 percent of the time. The 80 percent negative news coverage in the overall average was largely brought by Fox News Channel, which came in at 52 percent of negative coverage.

2. You hear all the negative polls. Here’s a deeper dive on the Gallup poll.

Illustrating the great divide:
President Donald Trump has an approval rating of 50 percent or higher in 17 states in the first half of 2017, but in the same number of states, has an approval rating of less than 40 percent.

Trump, who has averaged a 40 percent job approval since he entered the White House, had a rating of between 40 and 49 percent in the another 16 states.

The president’s highest approval ratings were in West Virginia at 60 percent, North Dakota at 59 percent and South Dakota at 57 percent.
His lowest ratings were in Vermont at 26 percent, Massachusetts at 29 percent and both California and Maryland at 30 percent.

3. The WSJ did report this next one. Mexican authorities are willing to discuss ways for the U.S. to reduce its trade deficits under the North American Free Trade Agreement. (NAFTA).
The U.S. had a $63 billion deficit with Mexico in goods trade last year.

Another story missing on the MSM

Coverage of this is missing on the MSM but readers here are not surprised. The crime rate in Baltimore continues to sky rocket. Remember the incident (Freddie Gray) where six cops were thrown under the bus by the mayor and AG? They won in court but the cops decided no one had their back. So:

While Chicago gets some coverage as being the center of urban crime in the U.S., Baltimore has a higher rate of homicide, and near-daily killings in 2017 that has produced a nearly 20% increase in homicides from a year ago. With 193 homicides in a city of 615,000 people, Baltimore is on track for its highest per capita homicide rate on record and one of the highest in the U.S. in years.
Anyone here surprised?

The Ratings:

MSNBC followed up it’s Thursday night win with a second in a row Friday. This one was on the back of Maddow who is beating a misplaced “The Five” at 9:00. We say again, it’s the wrong time slot for that show. Should be Martha MacCallum going head to head with Maddow.
MSNBC also winning at 11:00 with a live show versus a rerun of Tucker.
Otherwise Fox won 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10.

In addition below Friday is the week of July 17 totals. MSNBC won primetime beating Fox for the first time ever. Fox won daytime.
