If you like news, breaking events, drama and infighting, this is your time.
The Healthcare Vote Today:
The vote extends one day and finally the President says this is it. Vote up or down, we’re done dealing. All the cards are on the table now.
Think about the disaster here:
What Trump and Ryan have been doing is trying to line up 216 Republican votes. Not a single Democrat will vote to repeal Obamacare.
The plan has been attacked from the left and right.
CBO says it does not reduce costs and increases the uncovered numbers.
Supporters say Obamacare is in a death spiral.
So chose your pain.
As this blog has said for years, you cannot provide free coverage to 30 million, improve services and reduce costs. Impossible.
To enter this quagmire with their initial thrust was the wrong move by the new administration. They didn’t learn from Hillarycare or Obamacare.
The vote today? Our guess is it passes by one vote — but it’s a guess.
Schumer says Democrats will filibuster Gorsuch:
You can’t be serious. What’s worse is the MSM will give him cover for this outrageous action. Gorsuch should be unanimous as he was when Schumer and every Democrat voted for him last time.
Remember it was Schumer who when Bush was President said no supreme court nominee should be made or approved with 18 months left in his term. Now he is “angry” about no vote on Judge Gerland last year.
And the MSM will give this hypocrite cover. Disgraceful is all we can say.
Rockville Maryland:
Shocking lack of MSM coverage of the rape of a 14 year old. Contrast that with the coverage of the false Virginia rape and Duke lacrosse cases.
Anti Trump Protests to continue. Today’s WSJ:
The Democracy Alliance, “a group of 112 prolific political contributors that includes George Soros, Tom Steyer and Donald Sussman,” is meeting this week with groups “that helped kick off protest marches and town-hall confrontations to oppose President Donald Trump’s agenda,” report Bill Allison and John McCormick of Bloomberg.
Is There Wiretapping Proof?
Fox News is reporting that Republican congressional investigators expect a potential “smoking gun” establishing that the Obama administration spied on the Trump transition team, and possibly the president-elect himself, will be produced to the House Intelligence Committee.
It won’t be anything that says Obama did it and the MSM will harp on the Trump tweet no matter what they find.
Philadelphia Soda Tax Update:
The Associated Press reports that “Pepsi is pulling 2-liter bottles and 12-packs of its products from Philadelphia grocery store shelves over the city’s new tax on sweetened drinks … The 1.5-cent-per-ounce tax on sweetened and diet beverages is imposed at the distributor level. If fully passed on to the consumer it amounts to $1.44 on a six-pack of 16-ounce bottles.”Pepsi says that “it wants to offer products and package sizes working families can better afford,” the AP writes, noting that “earlier this month, Purchase, New York-based PepsiCo Inc. cited the tax when announcing layoffs of 80 to 100 workers at distribution plants serving Philadelphia.”
A story we have followed and illustrates liberal government at work.
