Tricks,Treats and Terror ….

A Terror Attack

We’ll have to await more details on the attacker and understand how and why he did, what he did, before understanding the details we need. For now we will say we are only surprised things like this don’t happen more often. A crazed individual can inject much harm on innocent people. With our freedoms it is impossible to get so deep into individual lives to identify everyone early enough.
Let’s see how this individual got here, what he did while here and when he became radicalized. When we understand that, we can begin the analysis.

Before The Attack

Before the attack the MSM fixated all day on the indictments from Monday. The focus was on what’s to come as the days move on. There were no new revelations and we think everyone on both sides is walking on edge while Mueller goes forward. Yes both sides, as the administration waits to see what else; and the Dems quake over the surprise Podesta resignation.

Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, for the second day in a row, hinted that this would be over shortly. (We think that is more her hope than inside information).
On the other hand a lawyer bringing the charges against George Papadopoulos apparently said his indictment was only the tip of the iceberg.
So take your choice. The people who know  — they aren’t talking.

Our unresolved question remains. Why is it collusion if Trump’s Team met to get dirt and not collusion if the Clinton campaign and DNC paid millions to do the same?
The same for what we know about the Papadopouous action. Here’s the lead from a Washington Newspaper story:
“Former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos was trying to do what the Democratic-financed dossier writer also wanted: Dirt on the other candidate.
And they both worked out of London and looked east, to Moscow”.

So why he lied remains the mystery.

A Word on Bowe

Bowe Bergdahl gave testimony at his hearing session and explained how horrible his life was and how miserably the Taliban treated him.
Poor Bowe. The Tabilan did not treat the traitor well. They locked him in a cage and beat him.

If you really want to feel bad, just read the stories of those maimed who tried to go find him. Read the wives and children stories of Father’s lost. Father’s doing their duty, above and beyond, out to find a deserter.

Bowe better hope the judge has more sympathy than we do, because we have none. Decision on sentence expected by week’s end.

Here Comes The Tax Plan

Get ready. You heard the noise before the details were out, here they come today.
You know the harping before they start. Tax cuts for the rich. Corporate welfare. Heartless. Lacking compassion.
People seem to forget a minor detail, you have to pay taxes to get a tax break.
Here’s one thought to remember. 20% of our population pays 95% of the taxes. Read that again.

Now think about this. We have a progressive tax system. That means you pay more as you earn additional. So everyone pays the same up to a bracket increase when a higher level kicks in.
Thus consider this:
We raise the zero tax payment from $12K to $24K. That means no one pays taxes on the first $24K of earnings. So in essence the higher income get a break there too. You want to take that break from some? Well you have to raise the tax in other brackets. See the issue?

You want a part of the 20% (who pay 95% of the bill) to pay more? How do you do it then? Eliminating deductions is one option. Let’s see those yelling that the plan is unfair tell us what deduction to take away. How about proposed solutions with your yelling? Don’t hold your breadth.

Finally on taxes we ask again why is fair for people in states with low taxes and spending to have to pay more federal tax, because big tax states can deduct their local taxes? How about fairness here?

More on the NFL

As the kneeling issue controversy continues a few questions from readers:
How come the NFL had an issue with Tim Tebow kneeling to pray?
And an issue with his wearing John 3:16 as part of blackout to avoid glare?
How come Robert Griffin III (RG3) entered a post-game press conference wearing a shirt that said “Know Jesus Know Peace” but was forced to turn it inside out before speaking at the podium?
Why was DeAngelo Williams was fined for wearing “Find the Cure” eye black for breast cancer awareness?
Why was William Gay fined for wearing cleats to raise awareness for domestic violence?
Why were the Dallas Cowboys not allowed to honor the five Dallas Police officers killed in the line of duty?

The Ratings

Laura Ingraham‘s new 10 p.m. Fox News show came in first for the hour. It drew 3.27 million total viewers. Her lead was commanding (+26 percent over MSNBC’s The Last Word, and a +145 percent lead over CNN Tonight).
This on the night of the indictments which would drive MSNBC and CNN numbers.

The Game Is On ….

Mueller Acts

As soon as we heard the charges against Paul Manafort and Rick Gates we thought, “Wait, this has nothing to do with Trump and collusion”. It has to do with his past. They better have more.

Now, an hour later, the story on George Papadopoulos broke and our immediate thought was “This is far bigger than the charges against Manafort”. And it is.

What we don’t understand is why Papadopoulous lied to begin with. He was free to have meetings and gather information on Hillary. Why lie that you didn’t, unless you were covering up something bigger?
All we know now is that he met with an insider, who talked to Russians. We understand they never got anything, and yet he lied about it.
There has to be more here.

Now you hear the Democrats and liberals saying he met with a Russian agent to gather data on Hillary. The only difference between that and what Hillary’s campaign and the DNC did was the later paid money for it. Yet that doesn’t seem to come up and be an issue to Democrats, liberals and the MSM.
I can’t even begin to understand that.

Finally, the news broke on Tony Podesta. He didn’t resign as chair of the Podesta Group for just any reason. I know his brother will “know nothing” here too, but something big is going to break here.

Bottom line on our assessment. Manafort and Gates are window dressing. The news is Papadopoulous and Podesta. Watch.

One final thought on all this breaking. Think about this. The Trump team is being investigated because it was looking for data on the Clinton’s. Manafort faces 20 years. Gates the same. Papadopoulous is now a felon. The Special Prosecutor continues delving into Trump and his people. On the other side, Podesta resigns because he was working with the Clinton’s.
The Clinton’s?
Nothing, they just skate on by.

Beyond Words

George Washington was one of the founding members of Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia. In fact, he bought pew No. 5 when the church opened in 1773 and attended for more than two decades whenever he rode north from Mount Vernon to do business.
This weekend, the church announced it was pulling down a memorial plaque to our country’s first president, saying he and another famous parishioner, Robert E. Lee, have become so controversial that they are chasing away would be parishioners.

That’s George Washington, the Father of our country, who bought pew 5.

Sunday’s New York Times

Try this headline and story on for size. We had to read it twice:

Trump’s Legacy: Damaged Brains
By Nicholas Kristof
President Trump’s E.P.A. is fine with children eating food tainted by a pesticide derived from a nerve gas.

The newspaper of record! They used to say “All the news fit to print”.
I think they forgot there is fairness, truth and unprintable too.

Not MSM Worthy

Here’s another story that you may have not seen on the MSM, but we think should have been covered:
President Donald Trump announced Monday that US special forces had captured a man linked to the 2012 attack on the American mission in Benghazi. Yea, that Benghazi.

Here’s what the President said:
The capture took place “on my orders” and, as a result, “al-Imam will face justice in the United States for his alleged role in the September 11, 2012 attacks in Benghazi.”

Did you hear it?

From the WSJ/NBC PollPresident

President Trump’s  approval rating has fallen to its lowest level since he took office, with Americans disapproving of his performance as commander in chief.
Trump’s job approval rating stood at 38%, a five point drop from September. Over all, 58% said they disapproved of the job he has done.
The survey found a dip in his support among political independents—and signs of erosion among some of the president’s core voters.

What surprised us the most were these numbers:
By a five point margin—42% to 37%—Americans in the survey approved of Mr. Trump’s handling of the economy.
You would think with the jobs created, unemployment down and the stock market way up he would at least get credit here. It shows the depth of opposition he has.

The NFL Mess

The Houston Texans kneeling on Sunday was over comments from the team owner. That seems to say that kneeling has moved beyond racial injustice to other issues. Won’t that just inflame those who are angry at kneeling? There issue is the flag deserves respect, now we have people kneeling for multiple issues. This is getting bigger and dividing people.

By the way, on Sunday night the World Series trounced NFL football in the overnight ratings (12.8 to 9.4%).

The Ratings

With Laura Ingraham (10:00) and Shannon Bream (11:00) shows debuting on Fox this week, it should cause some rating adjustment. Laura will likely win that 10:00 slot, which will drive Laurence O’Donnell crazy. At 11:00 Brian Williams has owned the time period because he was live. This one will be close now.

Really? Really?

Really this is not big news?

Remember the hearings and denials by the Obama Administration and IRS (Lois Lerner) denying any prejudice against Tea Party organizations? Remember their smug attitude, lost data and smashed computers?

Well guess what, they did it — just as you knew — even as the MSM defended them. Here’s a release yesterday on an agreement reached:

“Tea Party Groups settled a lawsuit they filed against the IRS that said the agency discriminated against the groups when it reviewed their applications for tax-exempt status during President Barack Obama’s administration.A proposed consent order filed in federal court Wednesday includes a note of apology from the IRS for its employees’ conduct when looking at the applications”.

The Government also agreed to pay $3.5 million to tea party groups targeted during the Obama administration, saying the intrusive scrutiny was illegal and cannot be allowed to happen again.

The government also reversed its tune on former senior executive Lois Lerner. Instead of being a hero who tried to stop the targeting — as the Obama administration concluded in 2015 — the Justice Department and IRS now say she failed to stop her employees and hid the bad behavior from her bosses for two years.

Our problem with this is why are there no criminal charges and why aren’t some IRS employees going to jail for the pain, mischief and disruption?

Really You Don’t Report This?

We heard over and over when a single federal judge stopped the President’s Travel Ban, right? Did you hear this decision on Trump cutting the health care subsidies that states want to court on?

“A federal judge in San Francisco rejected states’ claims that consumers would be drastically harmed by President Trump’s order to end cost-sharing payments”.

Is it only news when they overturn the President?

Really?

Et tu George HW Bush, really? In a wheelchair, with Parkinson’s and just off death’s door and you are doing what? I don’t care what generation you were born into — you are dead wrong. A disgrace.
No wonder he loves Bill Clinton “as a son”. I guess Bill did all he wished.

And it makes no difference who you are or how you do it. Ellen DeGeneres should be condemned as well. Did you see the picture and tweet she put out?
Here’s a description.
“Happy birthday, @KatyPerry! It’s time to bring out the big balloons!” the star wrote over an image of her gawking, mouth agape, at Perry’s breasts.

Oh yea, DeGeneres was an outspoken critic, dedicating part of her show to sharing her thoughts on the #MeToo movement. Just another hypocrite.

She can join Mark Halperin who has now lost his job at MSNBC, a book release on the 2016 election, and an HBO movie on the book. Oh yea, this hypocrite tweeted this about a Republican: “remarks are outrageous & should be denounced by all. Sexual assault is a serious matter”.

Yes it is Mark, yes it is.

On The Dossier

I wonder how it happened.
We know this much — The Clinton campaign and DNC funded it.

But, I heard Hillary say she knew nothing. Podesta, Fallon and Mook knew nothing. Debbie Wasserman Schultz head of the DNC knew nothing.
I wonder how it happened.

Maybe the Russians infiltrated their campaign and authorized it on their own. Or, maybe when Donald Trump Jr. met with that Russian lawyer he gave them a check with DMC credentials.

WSJ Editorial Board

The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board called for Special Counsel Robert Mueller to step down from investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election. They feel he is too close to the events of the time and cannot be fair.
Will any other MSM follow and say the same?
We doubt it. However if he were looking into Democrats do you think they would be?

Really? The Budget Vote

So yesterday the House passed the budget which is a prelude to the tax discussion. Note we said discussion, because the elements of the tax package have not been released or shared yet. Think about that.

We don’t know, as we’ve said here on numerous occasions, the tax brackets. What deductions will be allowed. If there will be a fifth bracket (39.5%). All of that will be laid out and discussed with the budget passed.
But think of this, the MSM, the Democrats and liberals have been attacking the cuts as for the rich for over a month now. How can that be? You tell me, because they know as much as you know about the details. It’s just an example of the MSM bias and desire to attack anything.
Here’s an example.

Our friend George Stephanopoulos on his Sunday show attacked the administration and reps, saying the program cuts favored the rich and Trump was a liar. He was indignant and angry.
This AM, on GMA, he said how can they pass something we have no details about, we don’t know what the program is.

Right Georg,e but you are a hypocrite and spent weeks attacking what you don’t know. A disgrace.

Really this is not news?

On the budget vote yesterday Republicans from New York, California and NJ voted with the Democrats. Why? They fear the inclusion of the loss of the deduction of state and local taxes. They voted to save their jobs and protect their constituents you can say. We understand that.

So how come Democrats in states where their people would get deductions because they have low or no tax also voted with their party? How come it doesn’t matter to them? Not one Democrat in those states voted for the lower taxes.

Why are they so party loyal? How come the MSM only covers the Republicans who voted “against Trump and for their constituents” and not the Democrats who voted against theirs?

If it were reversed how would the media cover it?

The JFK Files

We had to wait all day because President Trump got out there and promised what he could not deliver. So finally around eight last night most of the secret files were released.
Nothing we saw changed the belief that Lee Harvey Oswald did it. (Read Case Closed for the best book and study).

No Ted Cruz Dad news in there, he can rest easy now. How crazy was that?

Really GDP Growth

Output expanded at 3.1% rate in the second quarter as the U.S. economy grew robustly in the third quarter despite two hurricanes, propelled by steady spending from American businesses and households.
Good news.

Why is it …….

Why Is It?

I need one of our bright readers to explain something that I can’t figure out. What did they say Donald Trump Jr. did, that the Hillary campaign and DNC did not? The weeks long headlines day and night were of Trump Jr. collusion with the Russians, because he wanted dirt on Hillary. Now we see the Democrats actually paid money to the Russians for what turned out to be false information. Someone tell me the difference, (other than the Democrats paid) because the MSM is treating it differently. The Democratic leaders who jumped up and down on Donald Jr. say it’s different.
I am having trouble seeing it. Can someone help please?

On The Dossier

One more thing on the dossier. Yesterday an FEC  compliant was filed against the Clinton Campaign and DNC. It said:
“Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee violated campaign finance law by failing to disclose payments for a dossier on Donald Trump, according to a complaint filed Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission”.
You are required by law to list all payments.

The Uranium Question:

So now the person who had the damaging information and was under an NDA has been partially relieved of it to speak. He will testify, but not in public, and not to the full committee, but to some attorneys investigating.

That said, he may have some explosive information but we believe that the Clintons, President Obama and Attorney General Holder have proven astute enough over time to assure there is no smoking gun document with their names on it. Some people around them may have an issue, but in no way does it go up the ladder. We’ve told you many times if you’re a friend of Clinton you can go to jail and worse, but the Clinton’s stop at the line and wave good bye.
Just our view today on where this goes.

Getting Ready For The Kennedy Files

Any moment now the documents will be released and the conspiracy theories will fly in minutes. This will be fun for the next few days. If you ever visit Dallas and go to the school book depository you will be surprised at the activity outside and the conspiracy groups out there daily. This release will be fodder for them.
Do you think Ted Cruz’s Dad is cowering that he is about to be exposed? That was a Trump Special.

Fallout From A Divided Party

A FoxNews poll yesterday showed Democratic candidates lead by 15 points in a hypothetical matchup for the 2018 midterm elections. A divided Republican Party cannot succeed. It could be ugly if something doesn’t change.
This is a year too where Democrats have 25 Senate seats up and Republicans only 8. What a shame that would be to lose the senate.

Remember yesterday when we said it Trump’s ego that just continues to create issues. Yesterday talking to the press about his being civil, he said this again: “I went to an Ivy League college, I was a nice student, I did very well, I’m a very intelligent person.” The man is President, he needs to lead and stop his self congratulations.

Taxes

We think the House will get something through today. Before it’s over though this will get messy. Our bet is the rich will end up paying more and the middle class will get a break. The local tax deduction will not survive as proposed. It should, but it won’t. They may reach a creative compromise in which the middle class gets to deduct it, but it goes away at higher income levels. Wouldn’t that be interesting? All those liberals in NY, California and other big tax states could end up paying more — as they say they want.
Watch the 401K deduction too. After saying it was non negotiable the President backed off a little yesterday.

Another Phony

A story that did not get much coverage today is one on veteran liberal journalist Mark Halperin. He of MSNBC (Morning Joe), and Showtime (The Circus). Mark with his pious anti conservative attitude was guess what – taking a leave of absence. Why? Five women at ABC News said he sexually harassed them.
He admitted it saying:
“During this period, I did pursue relationships with women that I worked with, including some junior to me, I now understand from these accounts that my behavior was inappropriate and caused others pain”.
Glad he realized it now after they exposed him. Makes you wonder what Mika was thinking this AM after all those months sitting across from him and jointly criticizing Trump.

The News and More …..

Yesterday put everything in perspective for us.

Let’s start with the Senator Flake’s announcement as he joined Senator Corker in an outright denouncement of the President. When have you ever seen senators from the same party so attack a President?  Us either.

Now why is this? Let’s remember what we have told you over and over, this President has no loyalty, because he is not loyal. His personal attacks going back to the primaries stung people. He continued that in office. When you ever seen a President berate his Attorney General or Secretary of State the way Trump does? Never.
Would you work for someone like him? He takes credit for everything, blames you for anything wrong and has an ego bigger than the office. Everything he does reflects this. Look at his tweet announcing the release of the Kennedy documents. He announced he was going to allow release which was fine, but he had to add “As President”.
Everything he does and says is to say, look at me aren’t I great. So he will never have the loyal following of a Reagan, who had on his desk a saying: “There is no limit to what you accomplish if you don’t worry about who gets the credit”.

That said, Senator Flake is a phony. He is 20+ points behind in the Arizona Republican Primary and knows the Trumpers are gunning for him. He wrote a book critical of the President and he can’t win a Republican Primary in Arizona.
He could have bowed out with grace but chose otherwise. He could have left with class and opened some future opportunity, but he chose the low road, and with that the end of his political career.
The same for Bob Corker. An early Trump supporter he is bitter and angry now. He was on his way to a tough primary and leaves now with no future.  He said he wouldn’t back Trump again, well Senator if you were so wrong in your judgement then, we’ll take a pass on your future.

Bottomline is, this will be the story of the full Trump term. A man who does not create loyalty because his ego is too big will have issue after issue.

And Then There Is This Russian Connection:

Except it now appears that it was not Trump and team doing the collusion but Hillary’s team and the DNC. Wait now, you mean after all the sanctimonious talk from Hillary, the Democrats and their friends in the MSM this is reversed?

Remember when the MSM went crazy over a Donald Trump Jr. meeting with some Russians? The Democrats and MSM called it the smoking gun. Proof of collusion. They met, they talked, “look at this” they shouted. It was major leading news for over a week.

Well hold on now. We have the Hillary campaign and the DNC paying and working with the Russians for false dirt on Donald Trump. Actually doing it. Why isn’t this major news on the MSM today? To us, it’s doing exactly what they falsely charged Donald Jr. with doing.
Today the MSM proved its bias again.

None more so than GMA. Not only did the fail to highlight this. They went into depth on the Flake and Corker stories highlighting the breaking apart of the GOP and why it would lose its majorities. At the end of this long segment they mentioned for 20 seconds the story of the Hillary/DNC tie to the Trump dossier. But of the 20 seconds of coverage over half was devoted to wondering who the Republican was who started the process in the primaries. Absolutely shameful coverage. The other morning shows, MSNBC and CNN were no better. I guess they think if they don’t cover it, then it can’t be that their Saint Hillary lost while she did what they thought Trump did.
We have lost ALL respect for the MSM.

Which Republican started the background check on Trump that Hillary and the DNC picked up? We have an idea and it will come out.
We do know it was John McCain who found out it existed and gave it to James Comey.

Here’s a link to the Washington Post story that broke the news if you want to read it.

More News:

Here’s a story that deserved big coverage and I bet you never heard it. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 1.5 million Americans dropped off the food stamp rolls since President Trump’s inauguration.
Now that’s big news as Trump pushes work over welfare.
This is after eight years of huge increases in these programs.
Coverage? Did you see or hear it?

The sentencing of Bowe Bergdhal is delayed as his defense team argued he could not get a fair shake from the court because of President Trump.
It’s a last ditch attempt to impact his case.
Trump when asked about the case said he couldn’t comment, but people “knew where he stood”. So the defense team drummed up his comments from back when this all occurred and claimed unfairness.
What did Trump say then?
He described Bergdahl as a “dirty rotten traitor” and called for him to be executed by firing squad or thrown from a plane minus a parachute.

Our opinion. There was unfairness, but it was the damage Bergdhal caused his fellow soldiers by deserting. At the bottom of the ratings below we reprinted a story by those soldiers. Look what happened to them because of this traitor, then tell me what is unfair.

WHY BERGDHAL DESERVES A TOUGH SENTENCE. HIS FELLOW SOLDIERS SPEAK:

They were everything Bowe Bergdahl wasn’t.

Army Sgt. Mark Allen had already done a tour in Iraq by 2009 — but the married dad voluntarily redeployed to Afghanistan because “he didn’t want his guys to go [back] alone,” a family pal said.

Navy Seal James “Jimmy” Hatch was the kind of leader who fighters seemed willing to follow anywhere. He has a Purple Heart and Bronze Star to prove it.

And soldier Jonathan Morita will tell you himself about the promising life he left behind, “going to school, working at a job,” when he got called up after already doing one stint in Iraq.

Over two days in July 2009, the three servicemen were sent to help search for Bergdahl, an emotionally unstable Army private who had gone missing from his remote infantry post in Afghanistan about a week earlier. Despite the group’s best efforts to track down the panic-prone 23-year-old Idaho man in the terrorist-infested area, they came up empty-handed — and changed forever.

Their battles with Taliban snipers left Allen permanently paralyzed and unable to speak. Hatch still walks with a limp from a shattered right femur. Morita had to relearn how to brush his teeth and write because of mangled fingers on his right hand.

Bergdahl would return to the United States five years later as part of an infamous deal approved by then-President Barack Obama, which traded the soldier’s life for that of five Taliban leaders being held at Guantanamo Bay. At the time, Obama portrayed Bergdahl as a victim and even something of a hero.

Then it emerged that the “hero” purposely fled his post.

Allen, Hatch and Morita may give statements at his sentencing, set to begin Wednesday, on charges of desertion and endangering US troops in a military court at Fort Bragg, NC.

But Allen’s wife, Shannon, has already said it all. In a 2014 Facebook post alongside a heartbreaking photo of Allen in his dress blues in his wheelchair, next to her and their little girl, Shannon wrote: “Meet my husband, injuries directly brought to you by the actions of this traitor.

“He can’t give an account of what went down, because he can no longer speak,’’ she said of her husband. “Now, which guy is a ‘hero’ again?!? Sick.’’

Mark Allen, an Army National Guard sergeant, was the kind of guy who stood out among his colleagues long before he took a sniper bullet to his brain while looking for Bergdahl, said pal Robert Stokely.

When Stokely lost his son, National Guard Sgt. Michael Stokely, in Iraq in 2005, Allen made sure to call to check in on him, the father recalled.

Allen and his family still attend a memorial service held at Michael Stokely’s grave every summer in Loganville, Ga., the dad added to the local Newnan Times-Herald.

“If you want to look at the best America has to offer, look at the Allen family,” Stokely said.

Allen, now 44, was in his second month of redeployment when he was shot on July 8, 2009. The cartridge went through his helmet and into his frontal lobe. It took several years of rehab before the dad of two, a onetime avid outdoorsman, could even return home.

In an emotional letter on the Web site GoFundMe a few years ago, Shannon Allen thanked donors for helping to raise money for a special coat for her husband, whose arms are bent in such a way that he can’t wear regular outerwear.

“He’s in there, alright, his voice and ability to communicate are just trapped inside,” she wrote of her paralyzed spouse.

When Bergdahl pleaded guilty to charges earlier this month, Shannon wept in the courtroom.

The day after Mark Allen was injured, Jimmy Hatch and his team got a tip on Bergdahl’s possible location.

Looking back, Hatch told CNN, he had an instant bad feeling about the mission.

“Somebody’s going to get killed looking for this kid,” Hatch recalled thinking.

But Bergdahl “was an American, and he had a mom,” Hatch said. “And I didn’t want his mom to see him get his head chopped off on YouTube, you know what I mean?’’

In an ensuing gun battle with Taliban snipers, a beloved Army dog, Remco, was killed. Hatch, who was leading his platoon, was hit next by an AK-47 bullet.

“The K9 alerted us and was shot in the head, saving our lives. I got a few rounds off at the man who shot the K9, and then I was hit in the leg. The force of the bullet blew my femur apart,” Hatch, 50, later wrote on his blog. “At this point, my friends had to keep me from bleeding to death.”

Eighteen surgeries later, Hatch has a permanent limp.

He also has battled depression so severe that he contemplated suicide at least once — sticking the end of a gun in his mouth in front of his stricken wife.

To help cope with the trauma, Hatch started a nonprofit that benefits members of the military and service dogs.

Army Cpl. Jonathan Morita of California was dispatched the same day as Mark Allen to help hunt for Bergdahl.

Morita had been an Iraqi vet reservist — “at home enjoying life as a civilian” and attending college — when he was called up again to serve in Afghanistan.

He was wounded hunting for the missing soldier when a rocket-propelled grenade launched by a Taliban sniper shattered in his hand.

Morita said that, thanks to the attack, he still can’t bend his index finger or thumb on his hand, which prevents him from doing the most mundane of tasks.

He said he was particularly outraged last week, when Bergdahl pleaded guilty while trying to gain sympathy with the judge, insisting he never intended for anyone to get hurt looking for him.

“At the time, I had no intention of causing search and recovery operations,” Bergdahl said in court. “I didn’t think they would have any reason to search for one private.”

Morita scoffed at the deserter’s comments.

“Anybody who’s ever watched ‘Black Hawk Down’ would know that we do that,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bergdahl has insisted that while, yes, he left camp, it was only to try to warn leadership nearly 20 miles away that his group was being subjected to dangerous practices by its commanders.

He admitted to the podcast “Serial’’ in 2015 that he decided to try to cover his tracks when and if he was found by his American comrades by lying that he had left camp to hunt for nearby buried explosives.

“Doing what I did is me saying that I am like, I dunno, Jason Bourne,” Bergdahl said.

He was soon found by the Taliban and held for five years, subjected to torture, including being kept in a cage, he has said.

Since his release, Bergdahl, now 31, has been on administrative duty at an Army base in San Antonio, Texas.

And, amazingly, he has found plenty to whine about.

He said in an interview in the Sunday Times of London that he resents being a paper-pusher.

“Here, it could be the guy I pass in the corridor who’s going to sign the paper that sends me away for life,’’ Bergdahl said. “At least the Taliban were honest enough to say, ‘I’m the guy who’s gonna cut your throat.’ ”

The deserter’s fate now rests in the hands of a military judge, Army Col. Jeffrey Nance.

Bergdahl faces up to life in prison on the endangering-troops charge and as much as five years for desertion.

On Monday, Bergdahl’s lawyers asked Nance to toss the case completely because of alleged prejudice by President Trump, who has called Bergdahl a “dirty rotten traitor” and suggested he be tossed from a plane without a parachute.

Last week, the president said he couldn’t talk about the case anymore, then added, “But I think people have heard my comments in the past.’’

Nance recessed the court until Wednesday because of Trump’s statements, saying the president’s most recent comments were the equivalent of the president saying, “I shouldn’t comment on that, but I think everyone knows what I think on Bowe Bergdahl.”

With Wires

Just another Tuesday for the MSM …..

Watching  news on the MSM has become a task.
The coverage is close to 100% biased. There is no objectivity.

As an example, have you seen anything about the questions of a Russian connection to Democracts outside of one story on NBC from the MSM? Why is it that only Fox and Fox Business have the story?

Yesterday was a day the President managed not to shoot himself in the foot. So what are stories in today’s NYT?  Here the leads be section.

News Section LeadCutting Taxes Is Hard. Trump Is Making It Harder
Wait it’s his tax cut program so why this lead?
Because he said he would protect your 401K right.
Think about that. What if he said he was going to cut it? Would they say he was making it easier or destroying peoples futures?
Think about that.
Their coverage would be, the rich don’t need this, they have many saving opportunities. This cut in 401K hurts the average person trying to save for their future.
Just straight out biased coverage and not a fair presentation.

US News Lead: SgtBowe Bergdahl’s Odd Journey From Victim to Criminal.
The story’s lead is that two years ago Bergdahl was headed to freedom under time served and now under Trump he is facing life in prison.
Hey NYT the issue is not now, it was two years ago.
The man deserted. His fellow soldiers went looking for him. Some got hurt. We traded five hardened terrorists from Guantanamo for him.

Opinion Page Column: Democrats Should Embrace Impeachment.
For what? This is the same paper that said Bill Clinton should not be impeached.

By the way the WSJ this AM had this on Bergdhal:
Defense lawyers for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl argued that he shouldn’t be sent to prison because Mr. Trump’s latest comments on the case make it impossible for the former Taliban captive to receive a fair sentence, Nancy A. Youssef reports. Sgt. Bergdahl is set to be sentenced for misbehavior before the enemy and desertion when he walked away from his post in Afghanistan on June 30, 2009. Mr. Trump, during the campaign trail, called Sgt. Bergdahl a traitor.”

We ask again, do you think Bergdhal would be going (where he belongs) to prison if Clinton had won? If Obama were still President?

Media On The Gold Star Family Call

All negative. What are they saying?
Do they think the President made the call to berate the family?
How come they don’t ever give him credit for calling families?
How come they never show  – not once – families who were happy he called?
A congresswoman who wants Trump impeached gets involved and he is all wrong?
They cover this like Trump sent these soldiers to die.
Do they know we were in the area before he became President?
Do they know we are in a global war with Islamic Terrorists who want to kill us?
Do they know if we don’t get them where they are then we allow another base, ala Osama Bin Laden and will pay the consequences?
Then they would be blaming Trump for no action.
Do they know that in Benghazi where four died there truly was mismanagement and a failure to respond to requests for added security for months? How come the MSM never covered that?

A Story Today On The Internet Coverage
Robert Epstein of the American Institute for Behavioral Research and Technology, and Robert E. Robertson, a professor at Northeastern University presented the information.
A simple experiment in the run-up to the presidential election. They conducted searches on Google and Yahoo for political topics. The results were clear.
They looked at 4,045 election-related searches on Google and Yahoo during a 25-day period from mid-October through Election Day.
They found that the pro-Clinton
articles swamped pro-Trump news.

No surprise here. It was clear who organizations like Google supported.

I Know the MSM Loves This But

George W. makes a speech and the MSM loves him now. Why? Well he appeared to attack the President. So the same media that called him dumb, stupid, lost, a liar and unfit for the office, loves him now.

Mr. Ex President how in the world can you side up with Clinton and Obama who called you every name possible? Who blamed you for every ill in the U.S. and the world. Who called you a liar? Who said you were so incompetent that people died.  For eight years they treated you like a punching bag and all you said was it unpresidential to speak up. Now you do so?

Thanks for proving their point to the right.

WSJ On Healthcare:

Republicans returning to Washington will decide in coming days whether to embrace or set aside a bipartisan health bill that has gained traction in Congress, a decision potentially made harder by President Donald Trump’s statements praising the effort but opposing the bill itself, Stephanie Armour and Alejandro Lazo report. On Tuesday, Mr. Trump is scheduled to appear at Senate Republicans’ weekly luncheon, where the discussion is expected to center on a tax overhaul and possibly health care.

That luncheon will be interesting and made more so with the battle this AM over the air and in twitter between the President and Senator Corker. The Senator has become John McCain two. The President attacks the person, the senator holds a grudge, the MSM delights in reporting it and the country suffers.

The Ratings

Megyn Kelly with her ratings in the doldrums jumped into the Bill O’Reilly mess yesterday, attacking him. She needs the publicity and some good press and saw this as an opportunity. Many will say she quit Fox and should mind her own business. But, she needs something.
Since taking over the timeslot Kelly has failed to live up to the benchmark set by Tamron Hall and Al Roker, who previously held it.
During her debut week, Kelly’s show was down 12 percent in total viewership from that time slot last year. “The second week brought in 24 percent fewer viewers, and the third week saw a 23 percent smaller audience, according to Nielsen data.

Monday Morning …..

The press starts off Monday AM right where it left off last week.

John McCain gets major coverage as he continues his anti Trump vendetta. This time criticizing the fact Trump did not serve in the military.

Our friend George Stephanopoulos on GMA was all over this. I guess he forgot the President he helped elect and served did the same. Hypocrite.
Oh yea, and check what Hillary said about the military George.

Let’s see what kind of coverage he gives the trial of Kate Steinle’s murderer that begins today. What do you think? Me too.

President Jimmy Carter said on Saturday, “I think the media have been harder on Trump than any other president, that I’ve known about”.
He also said he voted for Bernie over Hillary. Called her a bad candidate. Did you see coverage of this in the MSM? Why not he’s an ex President.

Trump tweeted this AM that he is not making changes to 401K plans as reported by the press over the weekend. That was big news on Saturday.

Dana Perino made a great point yesterday. She wondered if Democrats will run against Mitch McConnell as Republicans do Nancy Pelosi. Steve Bannon is planning on doing that in primaries and it could hurt the Republicans big time. It could cost them the senate.

On example is Alabama. Polls show that senate race very close now. Alabama is as a red state as you can find, but many see the Republican as too far out there. Winning a primary does nothing if you can’t win the election. Republicans have a history of this. Check Delaware, Missouri and Nevada as real examples.

A potential bombshell report: “Obama’s former ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Powers, reportedly testified before the House Intel Committee that while a large quantity of unmasking requests were made under her name, she did not make the requests”. Then who did?

Did you see this story on another hero of the Hollywood left?
“A California artist says director and convicted child rapist Roman Polanski molested her during a photo shoot when she was 10 years old.Marianne Barnard told London’s Sun newspaper the incident occurred when she and her mother met Polanski for a shoot at Will Rogers State Beach near Malibu in 1975, where he arranged to take photos of Barnard in a fur coat and bikini on a group of rocks”.
Remember it was Hollywood and the left that did not want him deported back and even gave him more rewards.

Thursday is the day the final 3,100 JFK files come out. The conspiracy group will be out full time so get ready. (Just don’t expect to hear about Ted Cruz’s Father). Everything else is on the table. We believe Lee Harvey Oswald did it and having been to the book depository, walked the streets, followed the route to his home and movie theatre and spoken to conspiracy book writers, nothing tells us otherwise.

Below we have reposted an article written by a former CEO of the liberal NPR. He spent some time in “Red America” and his views are interesting.

This may seem like an unusual admission from someone who once ran NPR, but it is borne of recent experience. Spurred by a fear that red and blue America were drifting irrevocably apart, I decided to venture out from my overwhelmingly Democratic neighborhood and engage Republicans where they live, work and pray. For an entire year, I embedded myself with the other side, standing in pit row at a NASCAR race, hanging out at Tea Party meetings and sitting in on Steve Bannon’s radio show. I found an America far different from the one depicted in the press and imagined by presidents (“cling to guns or religion”) and presidential candidates (“basket of deplorables”) alike.

I spent many Sundays in evangelical churches and hung out with 15,000 evangelical youth at the Urbana conference. I wasn’t sure what to expect among thousands of college-age evangelicals, but I certainly didn’t expect the intense discussion of racial equity and refugee issues — how to help them, not how to keep them out — but that is what I got.

At Urbana, I met dozens of people who were dedicating their lives to the mission, spreading the good news of Jesus, of course, but doing so through a life of charity and compassion for others: staffing remote hospitals, building homes for the homeless and, in one case, flying a “powered parachute” over miles of uninhabited jungle in the western Congo to bring a little bit of entertainment, education and relief to some of the remotest villages you could imagine. It was all inspiring — and a little foolhardy, if you ask me about the safety of a powered parachute — but it left me with a very different impression of a community that was previously known to me only through Jerry Falwell and the movie “Footloose.”

Early this year, I drove west from Houston to Gonzales, Texas, to try my hand at pig hunting. It was my first time with a gun, and the noticeably concerned owner of the ranch at first banished me to a solitary spot on the grounds. Here, he said, the pigs would come to me and I could not pose a danger to anyone else. It was a nice spot indeed but did not make for much of a story, so I wandered off into the woods, hopefully protected by my Day-Glo hunting vest.

I eventually joined up with a family from Georgia. The group included the grandfather, Paps, and the father, CJ, but it was young Isaac, all of 8 years old, who took on the task of tutoring me in the ways of the hunt. He did a fine job, but we encountered few pigs (and killed none) in our morning walkabout. In the afternoon, with the Georgians heading home, I linked up with a group of friends from Houston who belied the demographic stereotyping of the hunt; collectively we were the equivalent of a bad bar joke: a Hispanic ex-soldier, a young black family man, a Serbian immigrant and a Jew from DC. None of my new hunting partners fit the lazy caricature of the angry NRA member. Rather, they saw guns as both a shared sport and as a necessary means to protect their families during uncertain times. In truth, the only one who was even modestly angry was me, and that only had to do with my terrible ineptness as a hunter. In the end though, I did bag a pig, or at least my new friends were willing to award me a kill, so that we could all glory together in the fraternity of the hunt.

I ALSO spent time in depressed areas of Kentucky and Ohio with workers who felt that their concerns had long fallen on deaf ears and were looking for every opportunity to protest a government and political and media establishment that had left them behind. I drank late into the night at the Royal Oaks Bar in Youngstown and met workers who had been out of the mills for almost two decades and had suffered the interlocking plagues of unemployment, opioid addiction and declining health. They mourned the passing of the old days, when factory jobs were plentiful, lucrative and honored and lamented the destruction and decay of their communities, their livelihoods and their families. To a man (and sometimes a woman), they looked at media and saw stories that did not reflect the world that they knew or the fears that they had.

Over the course of this past year, I have tried to consume media as they do and understand it as a partisan player. It is not so hard to do. Take guns. Gun control and gun rights is one of our most divisive issues, and there are legitimate points on both sides. But media is obsessed with the gun-control side and gives only scant, mostly negative, recognition to the gun-rights sides. Take for instance the issue of the legitimate defensive gun use (DGUs), which is often dismissed by the media as myth. But DGUs happen all the time — 200 times a day, according to the Department of Justice, or 5,000 times a day according to an overly exuberant Florida State University study. But whichever study you choose to believe, DGUs happen frequently and give credence to my hunting friends who see their guns as the last line of defense for themselves and their families.

At one point during my research, I discovered a video of a would-be robber entering a Houston smoke shop, his purpose conveyed by the pistol that he leveled at the store clerk. But the robber was not the only armed person in the store. The security cameras show Raleigh, the store clerk, walking out from behind the counter, calmly raising his own gun and firing an accurate stream of bullets at the hapless robber. The wounded robber stumbles out, falls over the curb and eventually ends up under arrest.

It is not just the defensive gun use that makes the video remarkable — it is Raleigh himself who evidences such a nonchalance that he never bothers to put down the cigarette that he is smoking. At the end, Raleigh, having protected his store, enthuses “Castle Doctrine, baby” — citing a law that allows a person to use force to defend a legally occupied place.

It is an amazing story, though far from unique, but you simply won’t find many like it in mainstream media (I found it on Reddit).

It’s not that media is suppressing stories intentionally. It’s that these stories don’t reflect their interests and beliefs.

It’s why my new friends in Youngstown, Ohio, and Pikeville, Ky., see media as hopelessly disconnected from their lives, and it is how the media has opened the door to charges of bias.

The mainstream media is constantly under attack by the president. They are “frankly disgusting,” “tremendously dishonest,” “failing,” “they make up the stories” and are now threatened with loss of broadcast licenses if they continue to author “fake news.” And that is just a random Wednesday’s worth of words from Donald Trump.

Some may take pleasure in the discomfort of the media, but it is not a good situation for the country to have the media in disrepute and under constant attack. Virtually every significant leader of this nation, from Jefferson on down, has recognized the critical role of an independent press to the orderly functioning of democracy. We should all be worried that more than 65 percent of voters think there is a lot of fake news in the mainstream media and that our major media institutions are seen as creating, not combatting, our growing partisan divide. Some of this loss of reputation stems from effective demagoguery from the right and the left, as well as from our demagogue-in-chief, but the attacks wouldn’t be so successful if our media institutions hadn’t failed us as well.

None of this justifies the attacks from President Trump, which are terribly inappropriate coming from the head of government. At the same time, the media should acknowledge its own failings in reflecting only their part of America. You can’t cover America from the Acela corridor, and the media need to get out and be part of the conversations that take place in churches and community centers and town halls.

I did that, and loved it, though I regret waiting until well after I left NPR to do so. I am skeptical that many will do so, since the current situation in an odd way works for Trump, who gets to rile his base, and for the media, which has grown an audience on the back of Washington dysfunction. In the end, they are both short-term winners. It is the public that is the long-term loser.

Kelly Speaks and a theory …..

General Kelly spoke and when he finished the MSM and a Democratic Congressperson looked pretty bad.
General Kelly is a person to be admired, and he was incredible.
To all those who after he spoke said he had to do it because he wanted to save his job, you are an absolute disgrace, without any dignity whatsoever.
To that Congressional member who started this and said she is a “rockstar” now, you are not. After the General spoke, for you to say that tells us all we need to know.

The Niger Mission:

It didn’t take the MSM long to pivot to asking what was this mission about. Suddenly they are saying this is Trump’s Benghazi.
First of all it is nice to see you know how to say Benghazi. Now you should research it and you will see the difference.
They’ll continue this narrative as if the deaths in Niger are real and the ones in Benghazi were right wing created.

The Russian Story

Remember how the MSM ran day after day for months the Trump and Russian collusion story? Remember how the Democrats screamed election fraud and the MSM supported them? They still take every chance to play that game, as they did this week when Attorney General Sessions testified.
Yet, the networks, cable stations (outside Fox) and major newspapers have not found a minute to report on the breaking uranium deal details with the Democrats under Obama and Clinton.
Can you think of any reason why that would be?

That got us thinking of the whole Russian mess and questions we had.
Why would the Russians want Donald Trump to win over Hillary Clinton?
Does that make any sense?
Who do you think they would rather deal with? Who would give them a better deal? Who would give away more?
It was Clinton and Obama who gave Russia 20% of the U.S. uranium.
It was Obama and Clinton who apologized for America and said we were not an exceptional country.
Trump would never do a deal like that. He said it was America First.
It was Bill Clinton the Russians paid $500K to for a speech after the deal.
At the same time there were millions and millions given to the Clinton Foundation.

So why would the Russians want Trump to beat Hillary?
Here’s a theory — strictly ours — as we examine this.

The Russians, for all the reasons above, were pro Obama and Clinton. They knew they could get the best deal from them and that Obama was apologetic about America and highly reluctant to ever use military force. He could cross a border and not worry. So he was friendly with Clinton and happy. What happened?

There is a story that all this changed in 2012 when Mike McFaul, who was President Obama’s newly appointed ambassador to Russia, arrived and almost immediately began meeting with opposition leaders and human rights activists critical of the Kremlin.
For Putin, this was seen as a provocative move at a sensitive moment as he was still angry over perceived American backing of mass protests designed to smear him. The Russian president was also facing a wobbly economy as global oil prices plunged as he struggled to reclaim Russia’s influence on the world stage.

Think about that. A new ambassor arrives and attempts to distrupt things in the country. McFaul actually blogged he’d started off “with a bang.”
Do you think Putin feeling uneasy and insecure would decide to get even? He is after all an ex KGB agent.

One former federal agent said it actually “pissed off Putin so much” that the Russian president personally vowed revenge. 2016 was it.

Below is a link to a story about this and to us it makes as much sense as any as to why Putin and team were suddenly anti Clinton.  It certainly deserves some MSM focus since it is so sure there was collusion between Trump and the Russians.
Wouldn’t that be a switch in the narrative?

Here’s a link to a story about this in a Washington publication:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/oct/18/vladimir-putins-rage-triggered-by-president-obamas/?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiWkRGa056WmpObVJoWlRRMSIsInQiOiJqQzFQemhXbXY4QWtjRkp5UDdOTWNxNVhBcGlqcGtSUWF5OEhTS0JxaGRuS1lEUEtWSzQ5V3Y5bDdOZ3V4VGJiR0FnU0NtWWZ3M2c4TVFOdGpXWEZoZkZpeDBYTnFhMFZjOUszY2EycFBWQXI5aXZSUGFDSmdraUsxM3pXUTlYMSJ9

The MSM loves Bush too now

Yesterday both Presidents Obama and Bush spoke in public. The press loves George W. now. Remember how he was dumb, lost, a failed leader and everything negative? Now he took a veiled shot at Trump they love him. Obama of course detests Trump as the later undoes his legacy.

Trump changes his mind on healthcare

A day after he supported the bi-partisan deal that would continue government subsidies to the insurance companies the President reversed and said he did not.
He did encourage the team to keep working, but who knows here? The Democrats had a field day with the reversal.

THE RATINGS

No Matter ….

It started with that press conference and a question about the four soldiers killed in Niger. I heard it and my first reaction was “wow they’re questioning Trump on soldiers, where was this when Obama was President”.  My first thought was, I bet almost everyone would be surprised to learn that more soldiers died in Afghanistan under Obama than Bush. (Over 2X as many actually). Yet I never heard the MSM ask about it. Did you?
Then I heard the comment on “Past Presidents” and I knew the press would take it personal and set out to protect Obama. It went on from there.

So here is the press going after Trump. We’ve had our differences with him, but does anyone doubt he appreciates our military? We don’t. Anyway that question led to his comment about calling families and he forgot to say “all”. (Though it turns out he may have missed calling nine families). So the press immediately says Obama called people. Yes he did. Some. Did the press realize he meant all? They did, but no break here, so the drumbeat builds about how much Obama cared. I’m sure he did, but Trump certainly does.

That leads to the call to the four Niger soldier families and the charges the President was insensitive to one. (According to a Democratic congressional person who wants him impeached). Here we say again, the President lacks social skills in these situations, but his heart is in the right place, on this one, as we see it.

The press is biased and it just gets worse. They look for any and everything to jump on Trump about.

On The Press

Here’s a story that I will share based upon the latest sting by Project Veritas. It tells you how biased the press is and I bet you haven’t heard it.

A New York Times senior staff editor called President Trump an “oblivious idiot” and Vice President Mike Pence “horrible” and “worse than Trump” in an undercover video released Tuesday by the watchdog group Project Veritas.

The video, part of an investigation into liberal media bias, shows London-based homepage editor Desiree Shoe blasting the president and vice president while acknowledging that “our main stories are supposed to be objective.”

“I feel like Trump is a just a sort of an idiot in a lot of ways, just an oblivious idiot,” she told the Project Veritas investigators in the hidden-camera footage apparently taken at a bar.

At the same time, “If you impeach him, then Pence becomes president, Mike Pence, who’s f–ing horrible, I think maybe worse thanTrump. I’m speaking off the record,” she added.

What’s wrong with Mr. Pence? “He’s extremely religious, extremely religious,” she said. “He at one point backed a bill that hinted at conversion therapy for gay people, which is like electrocution.”

That the New York Times employs staffers with left-of-center views may not come as a surprise to most readers, given the newspaper’s ongoing battle with Mr. Trump, who routinely refers to the outlet in tweets as the “failing New York Times.”

Ms. Shoe, who has worked for the NYT since 2009, made it clear in the video that she’s not the final decision-maker, saying there are “three layers [of people] above me.”

“I monitor breaking news, write alerts. … Essentially my job right now is to curate the front pages,” she said.

Why was there so much Trump coverage during the election? “Part of it was because it was sensational,” she said.

“But also, I think one of the things that maybe journalists were thinking about is like, ‘Oh, if we write about him, about how insanely crazy he is and how ludicrous his policies are, then maybe people will read it and be like, ‘Oh, wow, maybe we shouldn’t vote for him,’” Ms. Shoe said.

It’s tough for reporters to remain neutral with Mr. Trump in the White House, she said.

“Our main stories are supposed to be objective. It’s very difficult in this day and age to do that,” Ms. Shoe said. “When you have something like the Charlottesville story, it’s hard to portray for instance the president in an unbiased light when the words that are coming out of his mouth are apologetic toward white supremacists, which is what they were.”

The latest video comes with Project Veritas already skirmishing with the New York Times over the release of footage last week featuring a junior editor who admitted to political bias.

In a Thursday YouTube talk, Mr. Baquet called Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe “despicable” while admitting that the staffer, who had been on the job for six months, “said things he shouldn’t have said, and he said things that were damaging, and I will deal with that.”

At the same time, “his sin was a sin of foolishness, and it violated our policies. Their sin was greater. Their sin was a sin of lying, of subterfuge. They’re just awful,” said Mr. Baquet.

On Friday, Mr. Baquet issued an updated social-media policy, which said journalists “must not express partisan opinions, promote political views, endorse candidates, make offensive comments or do anything else that undercuts the Times’s journalistic reputation.”

The latest video also sheds light on the pressures facing even venerable legacy newspapers in the rapidly changing digital age.

Mr. Trump sells papers: The New York Times saw its second-quarter earnings increase by 9.2 percent this year from the previous year, while its digital subscriptions jumped by 63.4 percent, according to Project Veritas. There’s even a phrase for it: the “Trumpbump.”

“The main objective is to grab subscribers. You do that any way you can,” Ms. Shoe said.

She acknowledged that the New York Times is “widely, widely understood to be left-leaning,” but that there’s more to it than just telling liberal readers what they want to hear.

“It’s not so much that you have to give the readers what they want, you have to be respectful of readers’ desires, what interests readers,” Ms. Shoe said. “It’s not so much that you’re tailoring your content toward them but one of the things we’re doing at the Times now is making sure we’re aware of our audience.”

Mr. O’Keefe has been accused by his critics in the past of selectively editing videos, which he has denied.

The series, part of the group’s “American Pravda” probe, follows footage posted in June showed a CNN associate producer callingMr. Trump “crazy” and voters “stupid,” while another producer called the network’s focus on Russian election collusion “mostly bullsh—.”

More Counsel From Hillary:

In South Korea on her book tour she said: “Picking fights with Kim Jong Un just puts a smile on his face”.
Free advice from the former Secretary of State who had a failed policy with them in office.  We could be wrong but we bet he smiled more in dealing with her than with President Trump.
Maybe she can bring him a reset button.

Never a dull moment ….

What did he say? This AM the MSM was all over the President. Still seething over his charge that President Obama did not call the families of fallen soldiers, they found a new attack mode.

This one, was that he called and insulted a widow of a solider killed in Niger. The charge was made by a Democratic congress person who has called for the President’s impeachment and said he was unstable.

The President said, no way did he say what she said he did, and that she was pulling things out of context. He said he had proof.

Who’s right? We don’t know. We know this. The President is not the smoothest in what he says, and the Democrats and MSM will say and do most anything to get him. It appears the MSM ran this AM with the story as their lead, because they want it to be true. If you replace Trump with Obama how would they have covered it? Think about that.

Think too how they would have handled the calls to families issue if Obama had called every family and Trump didn’t. It would have been totally different wouldn’t it have?

The MSM coverage is, we believe,  just reinforcing Trump’s support among his base. They see a MSM out to get him and immediately jump to his defense. The media doesn’t care. They are so convinced Trump should not be President they jump on any and every thing to attack.

News that should have bigger today:

ISIS on the run. US-backed militias have completely taken ISIS de facto capital — Raqqa. This is a major blow to the jihadist group. This administration has them on the run and there should be coverage and credit.

The NFL ratings continue to decline week to week and year over year. Yet doesn’t it seem to you that the MSM hasn’t exactly covered this from all sides.

The same judge in Hawaii who blocked President Trump’s travel ban did it again with the latest attempt. The ban yesterday was just hours before it was to take effect. Hard to believe a single federal judge in Hawaii can change national policy over and over.

Just days after saying he would no longer provide subsidies to the insurance company (for Obamacare) he said he would support a bi-partisan agreement that would do that.

The Clinton Foundation announced it would not be returning the money Harvey Weinstein gave them. Surprise!

This and That ……

Some quick points and updates:

Trump had a solid news conference yesterday answering question after question with knowledge and facts.

Then he made the comment about past President’s and their reactions to calling fallen soldier’s families. The MSM will be on that for days.

I think he meant “all” families, but didn’t say that clearly. George W. Bush especially has done so much for the wounded soldiers.

His other comment about his “great friend” Mitch McConnell was an eye opener. Just look at what he has said the past month.

Did you know Hillary is in a walking boot? Apparently she fell or tripped while on her book tour. Remember back to the campaign when we all wondered about her health?

She said, “I was running down the stairs in heels with a cup of coffee in hand and tripped”.  She broke a toe. Hmm, running? Hillary?

Remember when Chuck Schumer was against the Iran deal? On Sunday he criticized President Trump for sending it to congress to review. Now he says it needs more time.
Where you wrong then or now Chuck? Or both times?

Did you see Larry Flynt the porn publisher is offering ten million dollars for information that leads to the President’s impeachment? He’s offered money before against conservatives.

Bowe Bergdahl plead guilty yesterday to desertion. But he said he only did so because he couldn’t get a fair trial in America today. Sounds like another reason to desert doesn’t it? We believe you Bowe. Enjoy your time in prison.

As the press discovers North Korea here’s an analysis, you might to read, that sheds some light on how we got here. Trump’s words didn’t create the issue.

Unrelenting ….

it seemed the MSM all weekend and on the Sunday shows were united in attacking the administration. They took umbrage at Trump’s moves on healthcare and Iran. We watched the constant barrage and attack, over and over, on every show and station.

Then the thought hit us. Here’s the MSM defending two policies that the previous administration put in place. Neither was done in a proper manner, as healthcare was rushed through. How can we forget Nancy Pelosi’s famous “you must pass it to know what is in it” comment. With Iran, congress was bypassed because they would not approve it. So we end up with the administration taking action and the MSM going crazy.
Not once did we hear that maybe because of the way the programs were put in place we might have this issue now.
No it was all Trump’s fault, according to the “non partisan media”.

Michael Goodwin, the columnist, had an interesting perspective on the media reaction to every Trump move. He wrote this:
“Not much is happening in Washington these days. Just more of the same as President Trump continues to change or scrap the policies of the previous president and the media responds by insisting each time that the sky is falling”.

Hillary May be Shocked Again

With all the fallout from Harvey Weinstein there was an interesting report that came out, which will be buried. It turns out Bill Clinton “was a much more frequent flyer on a registered sex offender’s infamous jet than previously reported, with flight logs showing the former president taking at least 26 trips aboard the “Lolita Express” — even apparently ditching his Secret Service detail for at least five of the flights, according to records obtained by FoxNews.com”. This was Jeffrey Epstein’s plane.
For a refresher, Epstein “spent 13 months in prison and home detention for solicitation and procurement of minors for prostitution. He allegedly had a team of traffickers who procured girls as young as 12 to service his friends on “Orgy Island,” an estate on Epstein’s 72-acre island, called Little St. James, in the U.S. Virgin Islands”.
It was thought Clinton was on 11 flights, bad enough, but now the number is raised. Here’s a link to that story.

An FBI Crime Report

This is a little lengthy, but with the controversy about the NFL kneeling and the real reason it started, to protest police brutality against minorities, and the killing of another officer in New Orleans yesterday, we wanted to share a study that just was released. We don’t think it got much media coverage. The information is from the 2016 FBI Uniform Crime Report.

The numbers show that black murder rates have been rising. However, it is not the police who are causing it, it is crime. The report shows that the black murder rate is up 20%, while police killings have declined.
The number of blacks killed by police went from 259 in 2015 to 233 in 2016, with 2017 thus far coming in below both years with 175 deaths as of Oct. 12.

What the numbers make you wonder is if the police are backing off more active activity in the face of the criticism they have received, the availability of cell video taping and the number of big city mayors backing off police support. And if so, what are the implications?

Here’s a link to the Washington Times story on the information released to see all the details:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/oct/12/nfl-protests-overlook-black-homicide-rise/?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiWkRrMlpEaGtZams1TnpJeCIsInQiOiJGSE9zZXJDRDVoc3ZrR1wvS2RWOU9WdEhpeldyUDFzMW9MTjF0TmVNQ1NBR2RrZWRSV0VaQ1ZQZkU1MzZMTk91eEhveHlFRnNzRzBtTGdnalpFUk1tY3pWc0RXN3h1bDh4M1FhR29TZitZWVJuUUprMURKWDd5bFhIdnBOSDRrQzYifQ%3D%3D

Here’s a second story on the study from a New York paper with the same analysis.

The FBI released its official crime tally for 2016 on Monday, and the data flies in the face of the rhetoric that professional athletes rehearsed in revived Black Lives Matter protests over the weekend.

Nearly 900 additional blacks were killed in 2016 compared with 2015, bringing the black homicide-victim total to 7,881. Those 7,881 “black bodies,” in the parlance of Ta-Nehisi Coates, are 1,305 more than the number of white victims (which in this case includes most Hispanics) for the same period, though blacks are only 13 percent of the nation’s population.

The increase in black homicide deaths last year comes on top of a previous 900-victim increase between 2014 and 2015.

Who is killing these black victims? Not whites, and not the police, but other blacks.

In 2016, the police fatally shot 233 blacks, the vast majority armed and dangerous, according to The Washington Post. The paper categorized only 16 black male victims of police shootings as “unarmed.” That classification masks assaults against officers and violent resistance to arrest.

Contrary to the Black Lives Matter narrative, the police have much more to fear from black males than black males have to fear from the police. In 2015, a police officer was 18.5 times more likely to be killed by a black male than an unarmed black male was to be killed by a police officer.

Black males have made up 42 percent of all cop-killers over the last decade, though they are only 6 percent of the population. That 18.5 ratio undoubtedly worsened in 2016, in light of the 53 percent increase in gun murders of officers — committed vastly and disproportionately by black males.

Among all homicide suspects whose race was known, white killers of blacks numbered only 243.

Violent crime has now risen by a significant amount for two consecutive years. The total number of violent crimes rose 4.1 percent in 2016, and estimated homicides rose 8.6 percent.

In 2015, violent crime rose by nearly 4 percent and estimated homicides by nearly 11 percent. The last time violence rose two years in a row was 2005–06.

The reason for the current increase is what I have called the Ferguson Effect. Cops are backing off of proactive policing in high-crime minority neighborhoods, and criminals are becoming emboldened.

Having been told incessantly by politicians, the media and Black Lives Matter activists that they are bigoted for getting out of their cars and questioning someone loitering on a known drug corner at 2 a.m., many officers are instead just driving by.

Such stops are discretionary; cops don’t have to make them. And when political elites demonize the police for just such proactive policing, we shouldn’t be surprised when cops get the message and do less of it.

Seventy-two percent of the nation’s officers say that they and their colleagues are now less willing to stop and question suspicious persons, according to a Pew Research poll released in January 2017. The reason is the persistent anti-cop climate.

Four studies came out in 2016 alone rebutting the charge that police shootings are racially biased. If there is a bias in police shootings, it works in favor of blacks and against whites. That truth has not stopped the ongoing demonization of the police — including, now, by many of the country’s ignorant professional athletes.

The toll will be felt, as always, in the inner city, by the thousands of law-abiding people there who desperately want more police protection.

From City Journal, where Heather Mac Donald is a contributing editor.

The information deserves a deeper look, study and analysis. People have the right to safe neighborhoods and streets.

Back to the news …..

The President acts and the news will be big all day and this weekend.

Healthcare

Let’s start with healthcare. His actions loom large.

First he opened insurance across state borders. This especially helps small business. They can now join together for policies, and it should be a positive, no matter what others say. Competition makes it better for the consumer.

Second is a big one. He cut the subsides to insurance companies to offset premiums for policies they issue under Obamacare. Remember, we always ask, how do you give 30 million free coverage. One way was to give tax dollars to the insurance companies. That is over.
The impact will be large. Insurance companies won’t eat the costs, so policy costs will rise — even more than they were under Obamacare.

Remember the fines for not buying coverage remain in place, but in opening insurance across states he allowed for individual choice coverage. This means you buy what you want and not what the government says you must. So less expensive policies may solve the fine issue.

The end result of all this? Increased chaos in the insurance market as Obamacare will continue to implode. Congress will have to act in the next 18 months and do something. You hear that Democrats, McCain and Collins? The gig is almost up.

Iran:

At mid day today the President will decertify the Iran agreement. Now that he means he is sending it to congress to vote whether we stay in or get out.
Congress never voted for the agreement. Obama bypassed them and did it on his own. Why? Because he didn’t have the votes. If you recall even Chuck Schumer was against it. So now, like healthcare, congress gets to vote. What will Schumer and team do? What will McCain and Collins do?

The President has called them on their words again, and the MSM will likely be talking about how bad getting out would be.

Think about these two things — healthcare and Iran. If they go away what is left of Obama’s legacy?

Harvey and The Democrats:

The story grows daily. Even liberal voices are “outraged”. No one knew anything, but everyone knew so much. Hillary again said she is shocked. Well, shocked by Bill, shocked by Weiner, shocked by Harvey and shocked by the election. If she’s that naive, it’s a good thing she was not elected, she would have been shocked to see how bad things are.
As for Harvey did you see him in LA caught on TV? He said he “needs help”. Funny how it took to getting caught to realize it. He said he is “not well”. After you destroyed and took advantage of so many you realize it? He said he hopes for a “second chance”. Let’s hope it’s after prison and he sees the world from the other side.

The Harvey case is just the opening of many stories to come. The dam is open.

Oh yea, Ben Afflect. A second woman called him out for grabbing her and said there are so many more. Imagine that. Yet his first reaction was to attack Weinstein. Do liberals really not see themselves?

And this morning an Amazon Executive is suspended for his actions. Buckle up for the stories.

Wait, Trump Gets Pakistan to Free Hostages And…

Getting Pakistan to take action and free an American citizen, her Canadian husband and their three children was a major act. Pakistan, as we’ve written has long given American Presidents lip service. This was huge.
Did the MSM give Trump credit? You barely heard it, right? Think about that versus the disastrous deal Obama made to get the traitor Bergdahl. He got much more didn’t he? (Oh yea, Bergdahl is going to plead guilty to desertion on Monday. If Hillary won would that be true or would he be free?)
The reports are, that as Pakistan attacked to free them there were cries of “kill the hostages”. It was dramatic and big.
Now the Canadian husband refused to board an American plane. He was married before to a female terrorist is the story, and doesn’t want to come here. Her parents in Pennsylvania are stunned. They are grateful to the administration and thought they would never see their daughter and grandchildren again.
The MSM is missing a good story. Oh yea, it might be a Trump positive. We get it.

Other News

Democrats in the house again introduced impeachment articles yesterday. Too bad the MSM doesn’t tell people how petty they are.

In Louisana, a sherriff announced he is no longer buying Ford cars for his fleet. Why? “Yes, the NFL players have a right to protest as they deem necessary, but we, the Bossier Sheriff’s Office and taxpayers of Bossier Parish have a right to spend our money elsewhere”.
Sounds like a blog writer you might know who did the same a few weeks ago.

Another story the MSM didn’t have time for in the Washingon Times this AM. “Two young illegal immigrant “Dreamers” in the U.S. under protection of the Obama-era DACA deportation amnesty were caught smuggling illegal immigrants in separate incidents in Texas, authorities announced Thursday”.

Did you see John Kelly, go before the press and mock them about stories he is upset, leaving and unhappy? He told the press they need to improve their sources. This honorable ex Marine leader who is a gold star parent was clear. The MSM reaction? GMA this AM said, imagine the disconnect in the administration that he has to go say he is not getting fired. What? It was your story, not the administrations he had to put down.
They really don’t get it.

Next big story to follow is the whole Sanctuary City one. Philadelphia, New York City, New Orleans and Chicago were all put on notice that their policies don’t appear to comply with federal law. They have until Oct. 27 to prove they are complying with federal law or risk losing millions of dollars in federal grants. Big battle ahead. Guess which side the MSM will be on.

The Ratings

What a night for Hannity on Wednesday (he had the President on). Look at his numbers. MSNBC’s one advantage is at ten, and Laura Ingraham begins there in seventeen days.

Trump Speaks — No Fallout

Imagine President Trump gave a 45 minute speech and then an hour long interview and the MSM had nothing to attack this AM. Is this an example of the broken clock being right twice a day, or the maturing of a President?

Going on the road to sell his tax program is exactly what this President needs to do. It won’t pass without his active leadership. With healthcare he let congress lead, and they failed. He knows more about taxes and he must do this. Without his active leadership it too will fail.

A man without a party, the President must get the people to pressure congress to vote for the cuts. The proposal is still to be defined on things like what are the tax rates are for each bracket, but a cut should drive the economy. We are sure a fifth rate (39.5) will be added to the 0, 12, 25 and 35 currently proposed. We also think the state deductions will not be eliminated. Let’s see.

This AM Paul Ryan appeared to get the message. He said he will keep congress in session through the Christmas holiday to get tax reform done. Ryan (who got health care through the house finally), looks far better than Mitch McConnell for leadership and ability. McConnell appears to be headed for even more tough sledding ahead. He has allowed himself to be painted “old school” and a leader of “swamp politics”.

With all that, isn’t it amazing how unified the Democrats are. Always 100% in line. They were the same for Obama and Clinton before that. The Republicans are no where as united supporting the President’s policies.

Now it really didn’t help for the Obama eight years. Obama got his agenda done but the Dems lost the house, senate and state governments. Let’s see what 2018 brings for Republicans.

Obama by the way is going on the campaign trail for the first time this week. He is in Virginia for the Democrat Governor candidate.

In Other News

So Hillary spoke up finally on her friend Harvey Weinstein. She was shocked and dismayed again. Every time someone around her does something that is her reaction.
Oh yea, she will give money Harvey donated to charity. What charity? She didn’t say. Do you think it might be the Clinton Foundation?
By the way, so far that foundation has done nothing for all the hurricanes and activity going on. Why is that?

Hollywood and the MSM sure look bad in the Weinstein matter. How many people knew and did nothing? How many of them are so loud and active for women’s rights? How many of them attacked Trump? Sad how they selectively chose when to speak up.
Ben Afflect sure looked bad. His loud voice quieted with one tweet on his doing the same. He’s sorry now too.
Jimmy Kimmel’s video is just an eye opener too. What Jimmy? You should cry about that.
NBC really? You passed on the story, really? You are non biased.
And SNL, you passed on Saturday because it was too NY? Really the MSM needs to look at itself.

What can we expect this weekend from the NFL players. The pressure coming from the commissioner is to stand. Not mandatory, but requested. We expect many to continue kneeling and not pay attention. In the meantime with ratings down concern is building. This is going to build to a major face down in November.

Big news, did you see Chicago repealed its soda tax? It wasn’t working and the city backed off. Hopefully now other towns and cities think twice on adding annoyance taxes like this.

The Ratings

Fox seems to have recovered ground lost with its new lineup. Megyn Kelly is having early rating issues with her new NBC show. They paid her a lot to join and it is hurting right now.

May you live in …..

The old Chinese curse said “May you live in interesting times”. Well the Trump era certainly qualifies. We awake each morning to see “what now”.

Just this week alone the President has taken on the most popular sports league in the country. Who does that? Then he fought with yet another senator from his own party. Who does that? Then he took on his own appointed secretary of state. Who does that? Then, even with his own issues, he commented extensively on Harvey Weinstein’s escapades. Who does that? In between he took on North Korea, ISIS, and the mayor of San Juan. Just another week.

Now interesting is only so, if you emerge from the situation better. The President’s defenders say will. The detractors say, he is so out of control that there is a constant baby sitting at the White House, and it may lead us to world war three.

The Chinese called it a curse — “May you live in interesting times”.

Some More Thoughts

One outcome of all that going on is the undoing of Obama initiatives and activity. Every week Trump undoes another Obama order and program.

All the noise about cabinet members using planes did you hear these numbers for the first eight months of their Presidency?
Obama administration 94 flights. Trump administration 66.
Where was the coverage then? What cabinet member did Obama fire?

Some more on costs:
Judicial Watch said the total travel expenses for President Obama over eight years was $105.7 million. That’s $13.2 million a year.
So far President Trump has spent slightly over $5 million on travel. If he keeps up that pace, his travel costs will be about $9 million for the year.

Some more details:
A trip Michelle Obama took to Morocco cost $128,108 in hotels, $88,726 in car rentals, $1,476 for gasoline and $972 for cell phones. No word on the cost for security, but the Secret Service would have been paid even if she stayed at home.
Her trip to Liberia cost a total of $107,000; Spain, $166,000; a trip to a Hillary Clinton campaign event in November 2016 cost $271,000 (why didn’t the campaign pay for that?) and a trip to LA to appear on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” cost $127,000 — etc., etc., etc.
Coverage of this?

On North Korea:
The U.S. asked countries to shut down businesses owned by the North Korean government, remove North Korean vessels from ship registries, end flights by the country’s national air carrier and expel its ambassadors. The WSJ reports that “the year long effort at the State Department is starting to bear fruit”.

The same is true about ISIS, who is being devastated by this administration. Coverage?

The President promised some action this week (via his pen) on healthcare. Outside of allowing cross state coverage we’re not sure what he can do.

Harvey Weinstein.
Really Dems, liberals and Hollywood, knowing this and your silence on it, you still went after Trump and Republicans?
Hillary, you “the champion of women” and it takes five days to comment?
BTW, the money he gave the Clinton Foundation and you what about it?
President Obama did you not know this when you got your daughter an internship with him?

Here’s a link to the New Yorker article that broke it wide open yesterday if you want to read it:
https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/from-aggressive-overtures-to-sexual-assault-harvey-weinsteins-accusers-tell-their-stories

Tax cuts:
The President goes on the road tonight to sell this. He has to do a lot of this with no support in congress for him in either party.

The Ratings:

Last week Fox won every night with its new primetime schedule. Hannity won the nine o’clock slot over Rachel Maddow. In two weeks Laura Ingraham joins (at 10:00) and it will interesting to see her numbers.

For the week because of the baseball playoffs and football the top cable cables changed. Take a look:

Basic Cable Top 5 – Prime Time (total viewers)

  1. ESPN (3,744,000)
  2. Fox News (2,451,000)
  3. TBS (2,382,000)
  4. FS1 (1,618,000)
  5. Nickelodeon (1,528,000)

Basic Cable Top 5 – Total Day (total viewers)

  1. Fox News (1,611,000)

  3. Nickelodeon (953,000)
  4. MSNBC (897,000)
  5. CNN (893,000)

Over the weekend Fox dominated as normal doubling up CNN and MSNBC in total viewers.

This week started out with a Fox win on Monday night, though narrower.

Catching Up ….

Trump Goes To P.R.

Once again the President’s ego leads the way and gets him in trouble. His innate desire to have people praise him and tell him he’s great is incredible. In Puerto Rico yesterday he came across as more interested in how well he was doing than the suffering of the people. His comment that Katrina was a real disaster is beyond defending. He used the number of deaths to illustrate that. Well, Mr. President, this is far from over and before it is the number of dead is going to climb. In fact it more than doubled in the minutes after you made your statement.
This President is incapable of showing true sincerity. He may feel it, but it doesn’t come across in his words or actions. He just comes across as all about “me”.
We think it goes back, as we’ve outlined before, to the fact that all his life he was the boss and in charge. The people around him praised him and told him he was great. He gets into a business people attack and he doesn’t know how to act.

Today he visits Las Vegas, let’s hope he learned something from yesterday and knows it was more than his tweeted “fake news”.

The MSM Doesn’t Need Help

The MSM doesn’t help in attacking the President. Another study was released and showed the constant negative coverage. What a contrast to President Obama was illustrated. Trump 62% negative,Obama 20%. Positive stories for Trump, 5%.

Their bias was clear after the shooting in Vegas and a CBS executive actually tweeted, “I’m actually not even sympathetic because country music fans are often republican gun toters.”
Now they fired the person, but think of the atmosphere that hired the person and made them comfortable enough to tweet this.

Last week the media was on the attack against the President’s tax proposal. It was relentless and loud. We have a few problems with it:
First, no income numbers for the tax brackets were released. How can you use the current brackets and tell us how much it will help the rich and not the middle class? You don’t know the numbers.
Second, the administration has mentioned a fourth bracket of 39.5 (as it is now) “if congress says it wants it”. Obviously a negotiating position was taken in leaving it out. Yet the MSM attacked that the wealthy would win and others lose under the Trump plan.
Third, the estate tax. What a joke. They make it seem like rich people pay the tax. They don’t. They hire tax specialists, create trusts and protect the funds. Stop giving people the impression that they do.

Quick Hits

Remember when the Russians claimed they killed the ISIS leader and the U.S. would not verify? It turns out they did not, as he spoke last week.

The official North Korean Central News Agency, a foreign ministry said Mr. Trump was “again exploiting the death of Otto Warmbier”. Really?

Speaking of North Korea did you see President Trump’s tweet Sunday to “Rex” about “wasting his time”? My first thought was Rex Ryan? Then I realized it was to Rex Tillerson his Secretary of State, and it was to stop wasting his time trying to talk with N. Korea. It was followed with “Save your energy Rex, we’ll do what has to be done!” Wow, nice communication in this administration.

Not much coverage but did you see The Colin Kaepernick Foundation donated $25,000 to a Chicago “direct action” resistance organization honoring a cop killer who escaped prison and fled to Cuba after being found guilty in the 1973 murder of the officer in NJ?
That’s a hero on the left today.

Fox News is Cable’s Most-Watched Network in Total Day; Hannity is No. 1 on Cable News

By A.J. Katz Comment

It was a significant week for Fox News. Not only was it the No. 1 basic cable network in total day, but it showed off a revamped prime time lineup, with Sean Hannity assuming the network’s 9 p.m. slot. Hannity, with help from some high-profile guests, got off to a very strong start. He defeated new time slot rival Rachel Maddow both in total viewers and the key news demo, en route to becoming cable news’s No. 1 show of the week.

Fox News was the second-most-watched basic cable network in prime time, finishing behind ESPN and its NFL-heavy lineup. Fox News posted a -29 percent decline in total prime time audience versus the same week last year. Why such a large year-over-year decline? The first presidential debatehappened to take place in prime time that week.

CNN delivered a top 10 finish in total viewers this past week, both prime time (No. 7) and total day (No. 6). Similar to Fox News, CNN also posted double-digit prime time audience declines versus the same week last year, due to the debate.

MSNBC finished No. 3 across basic cable in prime time, and No. 4 in total day. Unlike its cable news rivals, MSNBC did not experience a year-over-year audience drop off. The network was actually +4 percent in prime time and +12 percent in total day versus the same week last year.

Here’s a look at basic cable’s five-most-watched networks for the week of Sept. 25:

Basic Cable Top 5 – Prime Time (total viewers)

  1. ESPN (3,142,000)
  2. Fox News (2,290,000)
  3. MSNBC (1,676,000)
  4. USA (1,364,000)
  5. HGTV (1,160,000)

Basic Cable Top 5 – Total Day (total viewers

  1. Fox News (1,351,000)
  2. ESPN (1,038,000)
  3. Nickelodeon (979,000)
  4. MSNBC (921,000)
  5. Adult Swim (738,000)

Elsewhere in the cable news landscape, CNBC was a top 40 basic cable network in prime time this past week. The network posted +9 percent prime time viewer growth, and +1 percent total day viewer growth versus the same week last year.

Fox Business Network continues to lead CNBC in total Business Day viewers, and it won the category this past week: 192,000 to 150,000.

That said, FBN fell short to CNBC in total day, in prime time and in the Business Day demo.

HLN struggled relative to last year. The network was -20 percent in prime time viewers, and -8 percent in total day viewers.
