What is there to say?

Does Donald Trump realize his presidency is in trouble?

We are getting the impression he does. Now does he realize he is the cause of the issues? We are not sure about that.

Think about the people and groups opposing Trump. They include:
The MSM, Hollywood Stars, The liberal establishment, socialists, left wing blogs, the Democratic Party led by Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer, the blame America first crowd, billionaires and college professor elites.
With an opposition like that you have to really work hard to get middle of the road and right thinking Americans to turn on you. Yet, Trump is managing to do that. He has done it to the point his own party increasingly moves away from him. His own supporters don’t want to speak for him (they had trouble getting people to go on the Sunday shows). His social media supporters are reluctant to do the same.
That’s quite an accomplishment.

Now to be fair, the media has it set up so that if you back the President you are a racist or even a Nazi supporter. That intimidates some. But, most are hesitating to support him because they fear what he will tweet or say next.  His non existent filter to think before speaking or sending has put his presidency in peril. Some in the MSM are beginning to go there, that is questioning his stability for the office. They are asking if he is ill.
Who among his supporters are prepared to take that on, knowing the next tweet is coming?

Newt Gingrich, his most loyal supporter even said this:  “I think he’s in a position right now where he’s much more isolated than he realizes. On the Hill, he has far more people willing to sit to one side and not help him right now…”

Some Outcomes:

Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee announced “he is introducing articles of impeachment against President Trump following the violence in Virginia”.
Not yet, but the drumbeat is getting louder.

The WSJ had this:
Republicans Start to (Publicly) Sound Like Democrats on TrumpDemocrats, since the presidential campaign, have openly questioned Mr. Trump’s moral authority (think the Access Hollywood tape) and his general competency to be commander-in-chief (Hillary Clinton said his Twitter habits, among other traits, made him unfit to be president). Many Republicans, however, have largely tried to single out individual comments by Mr. Trump that they deem to be inappropriate without questioning Mr. Trump’s overall character.

Examples from the WSJ were Republican names you didn’t see before:
“Sen. Bob Corker (R., Tenn.) said that Mr. Trump has not yet been able to demonstrate the stability nor some of the competence that he needs to demonstrate in order to be successful.
Sen. Tim Scott (R., S.C.) told Vice News that Mr. Trump’s moral authority is compromised after his handling of the situation in Charlottesville, Va.  Mr. Scott, the GOP’s sole African-American senator, added that he could not “defend the indefensible,” referring to Mr. Trump’s comments on Charlottesville”.

And Reuters had this observation:
“President Donald Trump has stepped up his attacks on Republican senators, an approach he may regret if he is someday impeached and the Senate has to weigh charges against him stemming from an investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election.

More than half of the 11 Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which would be central to any proceeding to remove Trump from office, have tangled with the Republican president, including on Thursday when he fired off early-morning tweets”.

Some Questions about the MSM coverage too:

Their bias is growing as they become more confident they have the President on the defensive. Thus, a relentless drum beat of negativity is what we hear. How about this, did you hear it on the MSM this weekend?

Did you know that those arrested in the illegal bringing down of the statue in Durham were members of a communist party (Workers World Party)?
“The Workers World Party is fighting to bring about a socialist America. It’s a communist party that was founded in 1959 by a group led by Sam Marcy of the Socialist Workers Party. The group supports myriad issues including anti-racism to anti-imperialist struggles.”
The party is active in the Black Lives Matter movement and supports the struggles of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community. The group says they’re “dedicated to organizing and fighting for a socialist revolution in the United States and around the world”. The group said it destroyed the statue hoping to “take down white supremacy.”
The Durham newspaper reported that the first three arrested “are affiliated with the Communist Workers World Party, which organized the protest in response to deadly violence over the weekend during the white nationalist rally Charlottesville, Virginia”.

Somehow this was not newsworthy this weekend.

Issue 2:
The MSM media this weekend talked about taking down “confederate  statues” and argued the validity of that. (Now we made clear our thoughts last week about local decisions and the value of statue parks like Budapest). They never mentioned the names George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt.  Why is that? Because they know the American people, today at least, would draw a line there and get angry. So they completely ignored prominent left figures and elected officials who were calling for exactly that.  Examples:

Al Sharpton called for ceased funding of the Thomas Jefferson memorial.
CNN political commentator and Democrat , Angela Rye is demanding that statues and monuments to George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, “need to come down.”
A Chicago elected official wants to change the name of Washington/Jackson park from honoring George and Andrew to Jesse Jackson and Mayor Harold Washington.

There is more but you get the idea. The MSM held off reporting these to control the narrative. They want it about racism and confederate statues for now. Shameful coverage and reporting.

And don’t forget CNN’s Wolf Blitzer’s now famous quote after the Barcelona terrorist attack. “There will be questions about copycats. There will be questions if what happened in Barcelona, was a copycat version of what happened in Charlottesville, Virginia”.
Really Wolf, you said with a straight face?

Much more to report but we’ll leave it for another day.

The Ratings:

On Wednesday as the anti Trump coverage was heating up a funny thing happened. MSNBC won the total day for the first time.
Consider this from adweek:
“Whenever President Trump finds himself embroiled in controversy, the cable news networks often see their significant ratings improvement. This has been especially true for MSNBC, which has become the resistance network for the Trump era.

MSNBC was nowhere close to being a player in the cable ratings race not too long ago, averaging just 579,000 prime time viewers in Q4 2015.

That’s not the case anymore, it finished Wednesday as No. 1 network across all of cable TV. Not only was MSNBC the most-watched cable network across total sales day (6 a.m. – 2 a.m.) for the first time in its history, but it also finished No. 1 in prime time, both in total viewers and among adults 25-54.”

In addition to being No. 1 across total day and prime time, MSNBC was the No. 1 cable network across the 5 – 8 p.m. time period.
