EDITORS NOTE: BARRING BREAKING NEWS, LIKE A HEALTHCARE AGREEMENT, WE WILL NOT BE BLOGGING UNTIL AFTER THE HOLIDAY.
The President and some Republican leaders continue to believe they will achieve a healthcare agreement in the next few days. How? Why? The why we can explain. Without an agreement they will have to face voters next year and explain how they ran against Obamacare for eight years and had no solution. Reelection could be a major motivator to get it done.
How? That part still eludes us. Satisfying all sides, reducing an entitlement just seems too far a reach.
The Good and Bad of Trump:
The good, yesterday he met with the families of individuals killed by illegals. The people like the family of Kate Steinle who all support Kate’s Law, which congress will be voting on. They would never have gotten an audience in the past administration or if Hillary won.
The bad. Here’s Trump tweeting again this AM, this time taking on Morning Joe and Mika. In reaction to their continued attacks he got personal and it was ill advised. He has to realize he is President and personal attacks come with the job.
ABC won’t let up:
GMA and ABC News was so excited today reporting that “Congressional investigators want to interview Keith Schiller, President Donald Trump’s longtime bodyguard turned White House aide, as part of their investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election”. Schiller was the person who delivered the letter to Comey telling him he was fired.
Why is calling him to testify such big and exciting news for ABC? It gave them hope for a continuation of the Trump and Russians story. For four days they had nothing to report. Look, they called someone to testify! ABC news now is akin to CNN for us. Shameful.
Speaking of CNN:
The bad news for CNN continues. A second video emerged, this time with former Obama supporter and outspoken CNN commentator Van Jones.
“The Russia thing is just a big nothing burger,” Jones says on the clip.
Now Jones is the one on the network who on election night called Trump’s win “a white backlash”. You mean all the wall to wall coverage on your station and shows is a “nothing burger”? Just CNN bias?
The other concern the network has (outside ratings you will see below) is that AT&T is closing in on buying Time Warner. (They are awaiting anti trust approval by the Justice Department). AT&T leadership is Trump friendly and the job of CNN President Jeff Zucker is likely in question.
After the video’s fake news admissions, firing of four personnel already and ratings questions if you bought them wouldn’t you try a new direction? Maybe even truly move the middle?
