Trump Speaks To Congress

It promised to be an interesting night and it was. You saw the great divide as Trump introduced idea and thought after thought that Republicans and conservatives saw as logical and Democrats and liberals sat on their hands with frowns on their face. Vetting to protect who comes in, not worthy to them. Close our borders, not worthy. Calling the enemy “radical Islamic Terrorists”, not worthy. Obamacare is collapsing, no way. People should be able to buy a plan they want, not one the government says they must have. Not worthy. Many of the Democratic woman wore white (the color of surrender by the way), and could be seen with their thumbs down at some points. All I could think was, thank goodness Hillary is not in white. As in the White House!

Trump tried to reach out and bring the nation together a little. He brilliantly used the visitors he brought to make his points. The tearful reaction and applause to the widow of Navy Seal Ryan Owens was a memorable one. Who knew the widow was talking to Trump, all we heard in the MSM was the father did not meet with him. He closed by appealing to our dream of a tomorrow and what America can do. Great Presidents present a vision like that, and then act upon it. (Reagan and a “shining city on the hill”, or Kennedy, “a new generation, born in this century”…) You have to have a vision to be great and Trump had one last night.

Now you can watch what the MSM says and hear Nancy Pelosi’s view. She didn’t look like she was having a good time. The first polls released this AM come from CNN and they report a 78% positive reaction from the public. We expect those numbers to hold. That could make a bad day for the Dems and MSM. The cartoon pictures of them watching the speech should be great too.

One last early review. The unfair and unbalanced NYT headlines this AM:
Trump, in Optimistic Address, Asks Congress to End ‘Trivial Fights’
Threats and Vandalism Leave American Jews on Edge in Trump Era
Ever a Showman, Donald Trump Keeps Washington Guessing
New York Expects Fewer Foreign Tourists, Saying Trump Is to Blame
Opinion Section: How Trump Will Hurt My Border Town

What can you say? That is probably as positive they will ever get for him.

In other news (somewhat related):

The Washington Times had this story yesterday.
“In Donald Trump’s first month, Democrats claim victory, vow more obstruction”.
Think about that for a second.
Won the first month? By obstruction? Increase? How about the people?

Here’s the first paragraph of the story:
“Far from acclimating to President Trump, Democrats are growing even more resistant, claiming they won the first month under the administration and predicting a string of victories in coming months as they increase their level of obstruction”.
Here’s the next two paragraphs, with a quote from Chuck Schumer.
“Egged on by their political base, which has demanded that no Trump policy go unopposed, Democratic leaders said they erected historic roadblocks to the Cabinet and have thrown a wrench into Republican plans to repeal Obamacare”
“We Democrats are steeled for the fight, and it’s already paying dividends,” said Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat. “Frankly, we had a better first month than I think most would have imagined.”

Folks that says it all. Can you believe that? Here’s the article if you want it.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/feb/27/in-donald-trumps-first-month-democrats-claim-victo/?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTURRMFpUUTFaVEEzT1dReCIsInQiOiI0dWZaSEpveGVGVVpOblBST1F6MEJTNzRoZ1F4T1V3XC96TDlLdVh0cE1HZlVjdkJLajM5dVQwNEQrSlJUNEVcL0htQnp6dVRkcSs0TUQwMXFPZit0U3FyM3I4ZU1qb0oxV1wvK2xIdEpIc1lqUEJLbCtRXC9xVURRREZ2TURuRWxNUWEifQ%3D%3D

Now while that was being proudly stated here’s what citizens said in a Rasmussen poll:
“Most Say Democrats Hurt Themselves With Anti-Trump Strategy”

Here’s the first two paragraphs of that story:
Most voters agree that it’s bad for America and bad for the Democratic Party if Democrats continue to flat out oppose everything President Trump does. Even Democrats are conflicted about their party’s scorched earth policy.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that only 29% of all Likely U.S. Voters think it’s better for the country if Democrats oppose the president in every way possible. Sixty-three percent (63%) say it’s better for the country if Democrats try to work with the president instead.

Here’s the full article and survey if you want to see it.
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/february_2017/most_say_democrats_hurt_themselves_with_anti_trump_strategy

So if both stories are accurate then Democratic leaders are proud of something the country does not approve. Can that be?
To us it will all come down to how the programs he presented last night get approved and work. A strong economy will have our citizens swearing he was right. A negative one and it won’t matter. The citizenry are that superficial.

Thinking out loud ….

I was wondering watching all the coverage yesterday of Hollywood bashing Trump when was the last time we heard them bash Isis?
I don’t recall any, do you? Now they may be mad and disagree with what Trump is doing, but his goal is to protect Americans.
Isis is out there cutting off heads, burning and drowning people in cages. They are the real enemy, but you wouldn’t know it would you?
In fact here’s a WSJ story that it would seem Hollywood should be concerned about:
“Egyptian Christians are fleeing the restive Sinai Peninsula, some with just the clothes on their backs, amid a series of killings and an explicit call by Islamic State for its followers to target the minority group.”
Yet no coverage and outrage, why is that?
Maybe Christians don’t matter.

Trump News

The Trump speech to congress tonight should be quite an event. Watch it, form your opinion, then watch the MSM to see what they say you heard.

Watch how the Democrats and liberals react. Will they respect the decorum of congress and the office of the president? Will the one third who didn’t show up on Jan 20th be in their seats this time?

Then tomorrow the President is expected to sign a new refugee and immigration order. He initially planned to sign it last week, but was holding off “to make sure that when we execute this, it’s done in a manner that’s flawless”.  It won’t matter to Schumer and team.

A story that broke yesterday said the 2018 budget will increase defense spending by $54 billion. It “will slash foreign aid in order to boost defense spending”. Another promise he made. He continually said foreign countries must pay their fair share for our protection. No issues here.

Poll Updates:

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll had some interesting findings:      1.  The poll found that 44% of Americans approve of Trump’s job performance, 48% disapprove. This makes him the first president of the post WW II era with a net negative approval rating in their first gauge.
2.  Since his election as President, consumer confidence and sentiment surveys that ask participants about the health of the economy have seen their responses divided like never before along partisan lines.
3.  A majority of Americans believe the “media has been too critical” in their coverage of President Trump. The poll numbers:
– 51 percent: Media has been too critical.
– 41 percent: Mostly fair and objective.
–  6 percent: Media has not been critical enough.
–  2 percent: Not sure.
4.  The poll also revealed that 53 percent of Americans believe the media has exaggerated the problems in the administration. That included 79 percent who consider Fox News their primary news source, and even 40 percent who consider the MSNBC their primary news source.

A Cabinet Update:

Wilbur Ross got confirmed last night. He got 72 votes, so 20 Democrats voted for him. Our question is what took so long? Why did you attack him and try to stain his reputation for weeks leading up to this?
As of February 25, here’s where the administration stands on securing the confirmation of Cabinet and other top appointments that require Senate approval vs Obama and Bush.
– Trump has 14 of 34 approved.
– Obama had 24 of 39.
– Bush had 19 of 23.

THE OSCAR RATINGS

So early numbers show the Oscars had 32.9 million viewers. Second lowest (2008) in the century. That was a 1.4 million drop from 2016, which had a 4 million drop from 2015, which had a 6.3 million drop from 2014.
Makes you feel bad doesn’t it?

This Weekend ….

The left, media, and Hollywood pounded the administration.

Let’s remember that they never gave this administration a honeymoon. There used to be a 100 day period to allow administrations to settle in.

Don’t forget that one third of the Democrats didn’t even go to the inauguration.

Hollywood continued it’s self awards and Trump pounding last night.

Plus all weekend we heard protests about repealing Obamacare. Why? We heard Trump say no one will lose their coverage, yet we are hearing personal horror stories. Shouldn’t that wait until we see the plan?

On that topic, how come there’s no coverage about the failings of Obamacare? Last week we shared the stories of insurance companies backing out. Have you heard that on the MSM?

And please spare me from interviews like on This Week With George Stephanopoulos. He had Nancy Pelosi lecturing on the replacement. She is one of the last people we need to hear from on this. Read this one first.

And George, it’s nice of you to discover the deficit as you ask how is Trump going to fund this, “we have a $20 billion dollar deficit”. Over the past eight years as Obama doubled it from the $10 billion that every President up to him had created, I never heard you utter a sound.

All that and the cabinet is still not in place. Six nominated members remain unapproved. Imagine nominees like Dr. Ben Carson are unapproved. The ones approved were done mostly on a party line vote.

North Korea:

Lot’s of news on North Korea these days in and on the MSM. All of a sudden there is sense that they are dangerous. What did the Obama administration do about them for eight years? They did the same thing as they did with Iran, which is nothing. They looked the other way because they wanted to be the “peace administration”. They leave office and suddenly the MSM discovers they are a threat.

 Polls Show:

A new Quinnipiac University poll showed an impact of all the negative MSM coverage on Trump. He has a negative favorability rating by 55-39. It’s his worst net since taking office. Other polls show a negative too:
Gallup has his -13, CBS -12, NBC -4 and PPP -3.
The relentless attack from the media and Hollywood has to impact people.

Darrell Issa joins John McCain

So stalwart Republican Congressman Darrell Issa joins John McCain in calling for a special prosecutor to investigate any possible Trump election campaign ties to the Russians. Why? Because he won reelection in a close race. He went after Obama and Clinton hard and needs to win favor with the protesters in his district. His doing this shows the concern Republicans have with the 2018 mid terms.  Issa would have been one of the last you would have expected to coward under.

Now this comes after we hear FBI “leaked” reports that there was nothing there. It was MSM and leftist reasoning as to why Hillary lost. The story had died but it was revived big time over the weekend and Issa’s part was substantial.

You know what I do? I would make it bigger now, blow it up and them appoint a reputable but trusted special prosecutor to look into one question. Did the people in my campaign work with the Russians to conspirer for me to win the election.
Then when the prosecutor comes back with a report that says there is nothing there, I would rip the media and Democrats for their lies and wasting time and taxpayer dollars. Let’s call them on it.

Did you know?

That Democrat lawmakers in New Mexico are trying to pass a state law to deny the federal government land to build a southern border?

Did you see the judge denied Bo Bergdhal’s appeal to throw out his charges because of Trump? The judge said, “President Donald Trump’s campaign-trail criticism of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, while problematic hasn’t prevented the soldier from getting a fair trial”.
The fact he’s even getting a trial is enough for us.

Questions On Our Mind …….

Why do sanctuary cities think think they have the right to break the law?

I know they get MSM support but isn’t the law the law? What gives them the right to decide what laws to follow, especially since they enforce the laws of their city?
How come in polls 80% of the American people think sanctuary cities are wrong, yet the politicians get reelected and the MSM makes it seem they are noble?
Now just watch the outcry if and when the administration follows through on cutting funding to them since they won’t comply. You will see outcries of anger. You will see people who are suffering because of the mean administration. You will see lawsuits and sympathetic judges. The MSM will try what Mika said yesterday, “control what people think”.
If you failed to pay your taxes to a sanctuary city they would seize your assets. Why is alright for them to enforce their law and make life tough, but not for the federal government to them?

Why is Mexico so angry at us?

Here’s the opening of a WSJ story today:
“Top U.S. officials arrived for talks in Mexico City to find a defiant Mexican government refusing to accept President Donald Trump’s tougher immigration and deportation policies”.
Why does Mexico think we don’t have a right to control our borders?
Don’t they control their borders?
Why do they think we don’t have a right to return people who came here illegally?
Why are they so angry if we want to build a wall on our land? I get they don’t want to pay for it, but it’s “an insult” that we want to build it? In our own country, on our own land?
On the other side why is the administration insisting on sending illegals to Mexico that are citizens of other countries like El Salvador?

A Boycott Update:

Remember when we told you of the NOW boycott of Wegman’s Supermarket because they carried some Trump wines? Well Wegmans made it clear the products they carried was based upon consumer demand. Guess what? The Trump wines are flying off the shelf.
And we all heard and read how the Ivanka line was being dropped by retailer after retailer right? The Washington Post reports this:
“While a number of retailers decided not to carry Ivanka Trump-branded merchandise because of concerns about boycotts and becoming embroiled in political controversy, on Amazon, her brand of perfume “suddenly jumped to the top spot on the list of the online retailer’s best-selling fragrances”.
Let me know when we hear either of these on the MSM.

Remember the Philadelphia Soda Tax?

Longer term readers may remember when Philadelphia enacted it’s 1.5 cents per ounce tax on beverages (.96 cents per 2 Liter bottle). The tax was set to go into effect January 2017.
Philadelphia’s politicians predicted a revenue windfall of $92 million dollars. All of it they said would go to fund a pre-K program.

We warned on a few things. First, that other areas would see what they perceived as a revenue opportunity and try to follow suit. It came up in NYC a few times.

Second that it would not work. We thought all it would do is reduce sales, cost jobs and create a revenue shortfall. People we said, would either stop buying beverages in Philadelphia, or drink something else.

Two months into implementation and the results are coming in. Ready?
– First, revenue is no where near the $7.6M per month they predicted.
– Month one was $2.3M. A revenue shortfall of $5.3 million.
– Distributors like Delaware Bottlers (20% mark share) said sales were down 45% in Philadelphia.
– Thus they announced they are laying off 20% of their workforce the first week of March.
– The owner of Shop Rite stores in Philadelphia also announced plans for job cuts to come.
– By the way sales were up 20% in the suburbs without the tax.
What’s the reaction of the Mayor (Democrat Jim Kenney)? He blames the “greedy soda companies”.

This was so easy to call, yet the liberal politicians in Philadelphia still don’t get it. There was “greed” alright, but it was from the Mayor and city legislation. The intolerable left will never get it. They think they have a right to your earned dollars more than you.

And by the way the Democratic leaders and legislators in Philadelphia had no hesitation enacting a tax that impacted minorities and the poorer among then the most. Remember that the next time they yell that lowering income taxes is unfair to low income individuals and the poor.

Did you see this story on the MSM? This is real upheaval, not some of the stuff they have been carrying. Here’s a link to one story. You can also check Philly.com for more.
http://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/02/23/regulation-madness-philly-soda-tax-causes-massive-job-losses-democrat-finger-pointing/

Really? Yes this is real.

Some stories from yesterday that you may have not seen on the MSM.

Mika Proves Our Point

Following up on our column yesterday about the MSM here’s a dandy. Mika Brzezinski on MSNBC Morning Joe actually said this Wednesday.
“Controlling exactly what people think is the job of the media”.
Notice she didn’t say presenting the facts so people can decide. She said controling “what people think”. Proves our point yesterday.
She by the way is the daughter of Zbigniew Brzezinski former NSC head under President Jimmy Carter and an avowed liberal.
Here’s a link to the story if you want more.

Unfair and Biased

Here’s another MSNBC story that illustrates bias. Imagine if a Republican Congress person called Obama cabinet members what Maxine Waters did on MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes”. She read off a list of people connected to the Trump team, who she said, also have connections to Russia and the oil and gas industry. Then she went on to call the Trump administration a “bunch of scumbags”.  You read that right. On live TV. Did it get coverage?

Did you hear about this Guantanamo Bay releasee?

Ronald Fiddler, known as Abu Zakariya al-Britani, was a released Guantanamo Bay detainee. This weekend he blew himself up near the Iraqi city of Mosul, in an attack targeting coalition forces containing embedded British and American Special Forces advisers.
He won’t be the last released terrorist you hear about. We got lucky here in that he didn’t kill any of our brave soldiers.
Trump has promised to keep the camp open and add some “guests” to it.

Democrats pick a new party leader this weekend

Democrats gather this week to pick a new leader and the two front runners are left and far left.  They are Rep. Keith Ellison (Minn.) and former Labor secretary Tom Perez.  Take your choice, here’s who’s backing them
Ellison, the first Muslim congressman, has the backing of Sen. Bernie Sanders’s coalition including Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
Perez, the former Obama administration Labor secretary has former Vice President Joe Biden and former Attorney General Eric Holder in his corner.

The race hasn’t gotten much MSM attention but it has been nasty. As an example, after Biden endorsed Perez, Sanders put out an unsolicited statement panning Perez and Biden as part of the “failed status quo”.
For their part Perez supporters have expressed concern about handing the party over to the Sanders wing of the party, arguing that Ellison would move the party “too far to the left”.
Imagine that, Democrats worried about moving too far left.

Border Crossings Are Down — Who Knew?

Who knew this, I didn’t see it on the MSM. Law enforcement said the number of people crossing the border illegally is on the decline. Deputies noticed a decrease in people crossing towards the end of January.
Wonder why?

Big News Events Ahead

Buckle up for for big news events that will have the MSM excited.
Yesterday Secretary Tillerson and Homeland Security’s General Kelly began a trip to Mexico. Ready to hear all about the damaged relationship?
Trumps revised Travel Ban is expected Friday. Sure to be explosive.
Trump scheduled to speak before congress next week. Democrats already planning to put on a show. Stay tuned for this.

No quiet days ahead. An action President, an angry opposition party, a hostile media and a divided country guarantee busy news days.

Is Trump threatening free press?

Is Donald Trump threatening free press as the left seems to claim or is his claim of a biased media right? Here’s our view:

First let us acknowledge, again, that Trump feeds the media too much material. He knows that they love getting him and will play anything up, yet he continues to feed them. The example on Saturday with Sweden is a perfect one. He had this wonderful rally going coming off the press conference where he went after the press. People came out to show their support and it was going so well. Then he goes off script and mentions Sweden “last night”. Like so many others we immediately wondered what we missed. A terrorist attack in Sweden? What happened? The answer was he watched a TV show and heard Sweden was having issues with immigrants. So off script he didn’t say, “I saw a discussion on Sweden last night that …”. He skipped key words and said “look what happened in Sweden last night”. He feed the media.

Then when attacked by them he fought back and referenced the show allowing the media to extend coverage for days. So his off script comments and undisciplined tweeting have feed their desire to paint him a certain way. He owns that.

Now on the other side is the question if the media is biased. They deny it and claim they need to be independent and present the facts to the people so that they are fully informed.

Okay so let’s look at last week and see if the press fully informed the public adequately:

  1. Let’s start with an individual assessment. Do you think Obama got the same coverage, questioning and treatment as Trump is getting?
    We don’t.

Now think about what they public thinks and what is real. If the press were truly doing their job wouldn’t the public be informed?
  2. Most people in America think that the travel ban was Muslim based.
Yet no where in it did it say Muslim. It was country based.
How could the people be so wrong if the press were fairly reporting?
  3. When ICE was doing their job last week and deporting illegal criminals it was only what Obama was doing before. (That may change in the future, but not last week). You know that, but what does the average American think was happening?
The press covered it as if Trump was going after everyone. As we shared even the NYT called it an average week.
Rasmussen poling yesterday reported this: “Voters have long complained that President Obama was not sending illegal immigrants home fast enough. Now with President Trump in office, they’re worried that too many people are being deported”. How could they get that impression?
If the press was covering this fairly would the public be so misinformed?
  4. How many people have heard that Trump’s team had and continue to have connections to Russia? A majority still believe it.
The implication is that it is bad and there is something going on. How many know that even the NYT story said there is no evidence of wrongdoing? That there was no evidence of any collusion  prior to the election.
Wouldn’t they all know that if the press were doing their job?
  5. How many know that the FBI said that fired General Flynn did nothing wrong? Most think he was fired for talking illegally to the Russians.
Wouldn’t a fair press have let them know that?

If the media were doing what they say they are, then the public would not be so misinformed would they? Do they think the public just doesn’t understand what they are saying or misinterpreting? The truth is the media has an agenda even if they don’t recognize or acknowledge it.
It is evident in story after story the press presents with enthusiasm, in a convicting tone, with facial expressions and headline grabbing assertions negative to the administration. They do it because they share the anger of an election loss and the reversal of past administrative positioning.Bill O’Reilly ran a segment on media bias that brought out the personal views of the MSM. If you didn’t see it we included a link here. Watch how when he confronts press defender Marianne Marsh to name any conservative presence on first CBS, then NBC, ABC, and finally CNN and MSNBC. She is in shock, almost panic trying to do it. Now just think if we were asked to name the liberals on those stations. It wouldn’t be issue would it.
Is there bias? You have your answer.

A New Week ….

We expect more of the same this week. At some point(s) Trump will shoot off a tweet or say something that will have everyone shaking their head. Then the media sensing an opportunity will go overboard in their criticism and cause a backlash.

A few stories from yesterday to share in case you missed them.

Jane Roe of Roe vs. Wade Dies.

Norma Lea McCorvey was her name and she was the “Jane Roe” behind Roe v Wade. She passed away at age 69. Now did you know this about her?

Did you know she converted and was part of the anti abortion movement? This fact never got much cover in the MSM, but yes the poster child for abortion rights -became the poster child for the pro-life movement.

She was 22 years old at the time of the abortion case and had already had two children. She gave the first one up for adoption and the second to her Mom, who was an alcoholic. In the third pregnancy she claimed she was raped. A charge later in life she said was a lie. Her case by the way dragged out for years and she had the baby but gave it up for adoption. The baby was two and half when the case was decided. She worked in an abortion clinic.
In 1995 she had a conversion and became a Christian. She denounced abortions and became an advocate and spokesperson for the anti abortion movement.

The Wade in the case was Henry Wade who was the District Attorney for Dallas.

Masterminded of 1993 World Trade Center bombing dead.

Omar Abdel-Rahman, the blind cleric who masterminded the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, died Saturday in a federal prison hospital. He was serving a life sentence for plotting terror. His act was a prelude to the 2001 WTC attack.

This guy was a leader in the terrorist activity we see today. He was convicted in 1996 of planning “a war of urban terrorism”. He was targeting NYC city landmarks including the Holland and Lincoln tunnels, the United Nations, the George Washington Bridge and FBI headquarters.

He said “America will go and be withered and this civilization will be destroyed, Nothing will remain. We will not kneel.”
Check his background in light of what we know today and the immigration issues we are arguing:
He is considered the spiritual leader of the militant Egyptian movement Al-Gama’a al-Islamiya, which was behind violent attacks in Egypt. He issued a fatwa that resulted in the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat in 1981 by Egyptian Islamic Jihad. That act was after Sadat signed a peace agreement with Isreal and changed everything in the area.

He was eventually acquitted of Sadat’s murder but expelled from Egypt, and made his way to Afghanistan in the 1980s. There, he joined the mujahideen crusade against Russian forces, and befriended other Islamist radicals, including al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. One of his sons became a close associate of Bin laden.

Later, he traveled to New York on a tourist visa and managed to secure a green card, despite being on a terrorist watch list. Think about that.

There is more but you get the idea. There doesn’t appear to be any reasoning with these people and the only solution I see is in Reagan’s words. “We win, they lose”. The sooner the better.

What did you hear and what happened?

We’ve attacked media coverage and bias all week. Here’s a story to close out our case. You heard all week over and over about Trump and team deporting people and  breaking up their families. How they were going to organize 100,000 national guard to round up more. Well the last part was false and you may have heard that, but did you know the first part was false too? After a whole week of negative stories here’s the full NY Times story in it’s Saturday (the least read days) paper.

NY TIMES STORY ON UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.

The Arrest of 680 Undocumented Immigrants in One Week Is Not So Unusual
By JUGAL K. PATEL,
Last week, United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials arrested more than 680 people in at least 12 states, shown below, stoking fears that the Trump administration is increasing the arrests and deportations of undocumented immigrants.

But a comparison of last week’s arrests and similar ones during the first four years of the Obama presidency shows that the recent level of enforcement activity is not unprecedented.

It is unclear, however, if the numbers are an actual increase in enforcement, because information on operations in only 12 states was disclosed.

In President Obama’s first year, officials arrested an average of 675 immigrantsa week in so-called “community arrests.”
During the 2009 fiscal year, immigration officials made 35,094 arrests — an average of 675 each week — at individuals’ homes, workplaces or elsewhere in the community, which is similar to the number of arrests made last week.

These types of arrests are sometimes called “community arrests.” Operations on this scale do not occur every week and may take several weeks to plan.

The weekly average of such arrests made by Immigration and Customs Enforcement fugitive teams under President Obama rose to 771 in 2011 and declined slightly to 719 the next year.

Data after 2012 are not readily available, but in more recent years, the number of ICE apprehensions and removals decreased overall, especially after the Obama administration began to focus on convicted criminals.

In Mr. Obama’s two terms in office, there were at least six known operations in which more than 500 people were arrested, according to an analysis by The New York Times.

Announced Number arrested
April 2010   —  596
June 2011    — More than 2,400
September 2011 — 2,901
April 2012 — 3,168
August 2013  — 1,660
March 2015– 2,059

In one of the largest operations, the Obama administration announced in 2015 that immigration officials had arrested more than 2,000 individuals in a five-day nationwide effort that targeted unauthorized immigrants convicted of crimes. Several other large nationwide operations resulted in more than a thousand arrests.
While the numbers may not be unusual,
Mr. Trump has opened the door to
removing more unauthorized immigrants.
What’s different about last week’s arrests is the context, said Randy Capps, Director of Research for United States Programs at the Migration Policy Institute, a nonpartisan research group.

In 2014, the Obama administration began targeting unauthorized immigrants in three primary categories: those convicted of serious crimes, those considered national security threats and recent arrivals.

But immigrants who committed minor offenses — or none at all — were often swept up in operations. Still, by the end of Mr. Obama’s presidency, not counting migrants turned back at the border, about 90 percent of Immigration and Customs Enforcement removals from inside the United States were of convicted criminals.

President Trump’s executive order uses a broader definition of “serious crimes” and includes anyone who has crossed the border illegally — a misdemeanor.

The Obama administration was careful to say that only people who had very serious charges or were recent arrivals were priorities for enforcement, but now, everyone is a priority, Mr. Capps said.
Most of those arrested last
week had criminal convictions.
Immigration officials reported that about 75 percent of the 680 people arrested during last week’s operations had criminal convictions.

Of the 161 arrested in the Los Angeles area, 94 percent had been convicted of the following crimes:

Total Domestic violence 42, Drug offenses 26, Assault 23, Sex crimes 17 D.U.I. 17, Burglary 6, Weapons violations 5, Vehicle theft 4, Other 11

Of the 235 arrested in six Midwestern states, 163 had criminal convictions, 60 illegally re-entered the United States after being removed, and the remaining 12 were picked up because they had outstanding orders of removal issued by a federal immigration judge.

Not all of the 680 will be removed immediately from the United States.
Some of those arrested in last week’s operation have “final orders” to be deported and will probably be removed quickly from the country. Immigration officials can also quickly deport those individuals who re-entered the United States illegally by reinstating their previous removal order.

For others, however, immigration officials will begin a removal process, which includes scheduling a hearing before an immigration judge. In this case, individuals can get a lawyer as well as appeal the ruling, which further delays the process.

Some of the individuals arrested may face criminal charges in federal court, and possibly serve time in federal prison before being deported.

Weekend Tidbits ….

TRUMP VS CNN

Trump is a in battle with CNN. So how’s it going for CNN? Medialife says:
“Only five months ago, CNN’s ratings were so bad that it slipped into third place — even behind little-watched MSNBC. And just this week Medialife Magazine reported that Fox News took all the top spots in the most viewed cable news programs. The magazine also reported that Fox and MSNBC came in first and second respectively, with CNN showing in at third place”.

CNN’s chief Jeff Zucker says this about his people and team:
“They wear those insults as a badge of honor, because it means they are doing their jobs,” Zucker said of his employees, according to Politico. “I would say that morale is incredibly high … They are not being intimidated, they are not backing down, they know they have my full support and it is a very exciting time, frankly, to be a journalist at CNN”.

Maybe Jeff, just maybe.  Continue reading “Weekend Tidbits ….”

And Trump Attacks ….

It was another “never seen before” event for me with the press conference. I’ve watched press conferences since they held and this was one for ages. The analysis is easy.

If you’re a Trumper he was awesome and beat the media like a rag doll.
If you’re a never Trumper, he was arrogant, unknowledgeable and deplorable.

FoxNews and FoxBusiness covered at length and gave Trump high marks. They felt he took the press on eyeball to eyeball and beat them like a drum. He did it for 78 minutes.

If you were the rest of the MSM you were anti Trump and attacked.
Here’s the CNN web site seven hours after the conference:
“Trump Lashes Out” is the headline.
The lead reporter Jake Tapper: “Trump’s presser was unhinged”
CNN Opinion: Trump’s performance fuels worry about his presidency                             going off the rails.

On the MSNBC web page the same. Their lead reporter Chuck Todd ”                        “Trump’s Anti-Media Stance Not Playing Well”
(Editor’s note. Todd is host of Meet The Press. Trump’s show yesterday was Beat The Press)

The nightly news ABC, CBS and NBC saw it the same. Trump not seeing reality and denying things. No doubt the AM shows today will be the same.

No need for us to go further, it was as you could have predicted.

We think Trump did himself well with those who watched it or take the time to see it. He placed the emphasis on the leakers and their breaking the law. Why does the MSM not care about this? Trump repeated again and again he had no relationship with Russia. Where, we ask again, is the proof? And what are you accusing the Trump administration of doing with Russia? Even the FBI said there is nothing to charge Flynn with.

Trump’s best zinger to the media was when he said to them “you have lower ratings than congress”. The public does not like congress, but they do hate the media!

We were thinking today about all the hoopla about Russia and though we still can’t determine what they think Trump is doing with them another thought hit us. Does the media realize that ISIS is out there and wants to kill us? Do they know Iran is developing a bomb and has a US agreement that allows them to do it over time? Do they realize North Korea is firing ballistic missiles? There are real issues that Obama left behind that they should concentrating on.

Finally, the media and their friends would have more credibility if they weren’t against every Trump nominee and policy.

And one goes down ..

As we said on a few occasions one exception to the cabinet getting through would be Labor’s Andy Puzder. Yesterday he withdraw, as the handwriting was on the wall that enough Republicans would abandon him and he would lose the approval vote. Puzder was not a good choice for Labor. He was on record of wanting a lower minimum wage, robots to replace people and had hired an illegal immigrant as his housekeeper. It was hard to see him getting past all that and more. He didn’t.

The intolerable left continues its boycott pressure. Yesterday they pushed  the food chain (Wegman’s) to stop selling five Trump wine products from among the 237 Virginia wines (from 58 wineries) it sells in the state. If Wegman’s doesn’t comply NOW will organize a chain wide boycott.
What ever happened to the argument and position they took against conservatives on issues like abortion, pornography, drugs and religion?
Remember then it was, if you don’t like it, don’t do it or watch it. Now it’s their way or no way. Your intolerable left in action.

So exactly what is it that the Trump team did with the Russians that has the media so angry?
The NYT story yesterday said they had contact but there was no evidence of wrongdoing; or that they worked together to alter the election.
So what is it then? Is it just that Hillary lost?
I am having trouble understanding exactly what they think is up with Trump, his team and the Russians. Do they think Trump is a KGB agent and turning the U.S. over to Russia? What exactly?
From what I see it appears they think there was collusion to get Hillary, but no evidence to support it. If there was the leakers would have released something by now.
In fact we should find the leakers who are breaking the law. I think they are Obama left overs who believe the Wikileakes stories cost Hillary the election and want to get even.

If in the end it comes down to the Trump team had conversations with the Russians and nothing more then I propose this. Mitch O’Connell should pull a Harry Reid. Remember when Harry went into the senate chamber and boldly stated that “the word is out, he didn’t pay taxes for ten years” referring to Mitt Romney in the 2012 campagin? it was a lie and when questioned after the election he said what Mitch should repeat. “She didn’t win did she”?

Terrific meeting in the White House yesterday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. What a difference from the last administration. We are back on Isreal’s side. You would have missed this watching the MSM.

Then in Brussels Secretary Mattis made it clear that Europe needs to pay more of its fair share for military protection. You know what, it went over well. See it on the MSM?

This morning on the news shows all you’ll hear is the latest NYT or Washington Post drip drip drip report on the Russians. How a cabinet nominee has joined Flynn and withdrawn in a bad week for Trump. (By the way three Obama cabinet nominees withdrew). How meetings on replacing Obamacare are going no where. How there is major pushback on any border tax.
You won’t hear any of the positives like we mentioned above or much about the Trump stock market lift that has driven everyone’s wealth.

Your MSM in action.

The Pounding …

It might have been Valentine’s Day but the only celebrating going on with the MSM and their leftist friends was the resignation of Mike Flynn. As predicted they want a bigger review now. “What did the President know and when did he know it”? Do you remember how many times Obama said he learned of this issue “when you did, when the media published it”? He didn’t know anything until the press reported it. Did you hear the MSM or their friends then finding “his credibility” in question?

We’ll repeat again that if Flynn spoke with the Russian ambassador on the Obama sanctions and offered thoughts on change after he assumed his role he was wrong and should resign. So too should have the IRS head when it was discovered they were denying tax status to the Tea Party groups. So too should have every head of a department who did something that Obama “learned about in the newspapers”. As far as I can recall Flynn was the only fired so quickly.

Many in the MSM delighting in covering the Democratic Press Conference where Rep Cummings and Minority Head Nancy Pelosi, among others, spoke of Flynn’s tweet where he said he was a “scapegoat”. They carried on about the use of this word, on live TV, to the delight of the media. Except it turned out that Flynn never tweeted it or said it. Wait for the apology, but don’t hold your breath.
By the way, Generals with 30 years of loyal service don’t talk.

And by the way, how are top secret conversations like the one Flynn had being leaked out? Someone is breaking the law and letting the Russians know how much we are eavesdropping. Do you think it’s Obama partisans  doing it?  Do you think the MSM and Democrats will ask and seek to find out? Me neither.

As for a replacement, one of the top three names mentioned is General David Petraeus. You can’t give him the job. How can you replace Flynn with someone who actually leaked top secret information? You can’t.

The ethics committee has authorized action against Kellyanne Conway because of her off the cuff remark about buying Ivanka’s clothes line. What you ask, is this the same ethics committee that never mentioned Hillary? Yes it is.

Much noise in the MSM all day (everyday) on Obamacare. They are really on the administration about the replacement. After all, the ACA is working so well, why mess it up? The problem is Republicans ran against the act for seven years and have no plan. You know our position, it’s easy to say it’s bad, which it is, but you cannot replace it with the number of free members.

Watch for Trump’s numbers to decline as the pounding goes on all day. The press will convince the populace things are bad and going downhill. Eventually it will impact the positive stock market momentum as the numbers decline.

Finally, can you believe Bowe Bergdahl’s attorneys are looking for charges to be dropped because he can’t get a fair trial based upon Trump’s election comments? Do you think if he gets a liberal Obama or Clinton judge he could pull that off? It’s possible. We don’t have judges anymore that interpret the law, they want to make law. The issue with Bergdhal is he put lives in jeopardy, might have caused one person to lose his, and a few others to be wounded. He deserted. The only question should be life or death.

The Pressure Builds …

First we apologize and thank loyal reader Emil Martinez for pointing out that in yesterday’s blog we named General Kelly as the NSC head who was in trouble when we all know it is General Flynn. Our mistake. The content was right on, just the wrong name typed.

That said, the Flynn pressure had built all day and by midnight he resigned. It became clear yesterday that the only question was when. No one in the administration was defending him. They couldn’t.

The Democrats, liberal left, and MSM will take major delight in Flynn’s departure and use it as an example of the Trump administration laxity and failed ethics. Plus, this will not end here, as the left will call for a special prosecutor to understand what Trump and others knew and when they knew it. The same people who said we don’t need one for Hillary will be shouting from the rafters now.
You can see it now, they will spend the next four years questioning ethics.

In the meantime the hysteria in the MSM about the ICE activities is incredible. Almost every person captured and prepared for deportation was  not only here illegally, they had a criminal record. Read that again. Here illegally and with a criminal record.
Maybe they need to commit those acts against individuals close to the intolerable left before they realize what is going on. It seems they preach tolerance until it impacts them and their beliefs.

The cabinet continues to get approved as we all knew, almost always in a partisan vote. All will be approved, with the sole possible exception of labor secretary, and the entire process was done to smear the choices. In a normal world those who led the smear would be held accountable, but with the MSM on their side it will not get the coverage it should.

In our opinion the SNL skit on Kellyanne Conway was a disgrace. If you think they’re just comedians here’s a question. Do you remember how they attacked and made George W. Bush look like a big buffoon? Now you see them destroying Trump. What do you remember of them doing to Obama?

The Weekend News

If you watched the weekend news shows you saw the vehemence with which the MSM is going after the Trump administration. There was real anger in their tone and questioning. The Trump administration was well represented by Stephen Miller, Assistant to the President. He was tough, articulate and ready. He left them even angrier by his answers and you can expect the media to be attacking hard in the week ahead. The key focus for them:

How can General Kelly stay in his role. He denied talking to the Russian ambassador in December about the Obama sanctions. It turns out the secret tapes apparently say he may have. They pressed on what he told VP Pence, since the week before Pence said General Kelly told him sanctions were not discussed. That puts Pence in a tough spot and the word is he is upset. If it turns out Kelly lied, the press will not let up and he must resign.
The key is we have one president at a time and you can’t do that. Lying about it just adds more.
Now the next question from the press will be this. Did Kelly do this on his own or did the President tell him. They won’t let it rest, that’s for sure.

North Korea testing that missile is now a big issue with the media. They tested them for the years of the Obama administration but somehow now it’s different. In fact they want to know “didn’t this test pass President Trump’s redline”? Oh now they want to talk redlines?

On the ban they went over and over the court decision and how dare the President call the judge a “so called” one. They challenged what ICE was doing in finding illegals for deportation. Miller said they were doing what Trump said the entire campaign, finding the criminals and deporting them. He then asked a key question. Why is the media criticizing the Trump administration for following the law of the land? Deportation, especially of criminals is the law. Why are they yelling the administration won’t follow the court ruling, yet they go after him when he is enforcing law?

The get Conway effort remains out in full force. That ad libbed statement in response to a question about Ivana Trump’s line is way over blown. Again the MSM letting their bias show.

The protests on all the issues from immigration to health care seem to us to be orchestrated. Some team or group is behind this. Don’t count on the press investigationg to find out. All their reporterts are busy investigating Trump and team.

The health care attacks seem particularly out of line. Most of the country thinks the ACA is broken and needs fixing. Hearing these people yelling that they are going to lose their coverage when we have a promise of repeal and replace is incredible. Maybe the President or Tom Price the new Heath Secretary should just go on the air and make some promises. Let’s see, they can say: “You can keep your health plan if you like it, you can keep your doctor and we’ll save you $2,500.”. I’m sure the press would like that and won’t call them on it.
Again the problem here is how do we insure 30+ million for free? Now if they all got jobs and paid their way we could save you $2,500 a year.

Seven cabinet members in place as we begin week four. Obama had twelve by now. Democratic senators on Sunday said, they need more time for vetting. Oh that’s why your boycotting the hearings and holding 24 hour marathon speaking sessions. I was confused.

Could be a contentious week. Pay close attention.

And Here’s The Divide …

Just going to share a Rasmussen Poll this Saturday that speaks to the great divide between conservatives and liberals in our country. You can make your own judgement.

———————————————————-If it’s in the News, it’s in our Polls. Public opinion polling since 2003.

Democrats Think Muslims Worse Off Here Than Christians Are In Muslim World

Most voters agree that Christians living in Muslim-majority countries are mistreated for their religion. But Democrats are more likely to think Muslims are mistreated in America than to think Christians are persecuted in the Islamic world.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 62% of Likely U.S. Voters believe most Christians living in the Islamic world are treated unfairly because of their religion. Just 17% disagree, while 21% more are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

These findings have changed little in surveys since early 2015.

By comparison, 39% feel most Muslims living in the United States are treated unfairly because of their religion. That’s up from 31% last year and is the highest finding in surveys to date. A plurality (46%) still believes Muslims are not treated unfairly because of their faith, while 15% more are not sure.

Fifty-six percent (56%) of Democrats, however, believe most Muslims in this country are mistreated, a view shared by only 22% of Republicans and 39% of voters not affiliated with either major party. Fewer Democrats (47%) think most Christians are mistreated in the Islamic world, compared to 76% of GOP voters and 64% of unaffiliateds.

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on February 2 and 5, 2017 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Most voters favor the president’s temporary ban on refugees and on visas for those from seven Muslim-majority countries that the State Department views as terrorist havens. Trump wants to ensure that the government can adequately screen out potential terrorists before letting any more newcomers into the country.

Majorities of voters across most demographic groups agree that most Christians living in the Islamic world are treated unfairly because of their religion.

Women are more likely than men to think most American Muslims are mistreated here but less likely to believe Christians are mistreated in the Islamic world.

Nearly as many voters under 40 think most Muslims are mistreated in America (51%) as think most Christians are mistreated in the Muslim world (57%). Older voters by a two-to-one margin believe the treatment of Christians in the Muslim world is worse than that of Muslims in this country.

A majority of black voters (52%) believe most Muslims here are unfairly treated, compared to 37% of whites and 42% of other minority voters.

Among voters who do not believe Muslims here as mistreated, 76% say most Christians living in the Islamic world are persecuted. Among those who feel most Muslims in America are mistreated, only 56% agree that most Christians suffer in Muslim countries.

The United States remains a majority Christian nation. But 94% of voters also rate freedom of religion as an important right, including 80% who say it is Very Important.

Following the massacre by a Muslim terrorist at an Orlando nightclub last June, only 21% of all voters said the Islamic community in this country has been vocal enough in its condemnation of terrorist attacks. Forty-nine percent (49%) think Islam as practiced today encourages violence more than most other religions, and 71% say Islamic religious leaders need to do more to emphasize the peaceful beliefs of their faith.

Most voters continue to believe the United States is at war with radical Islamic terrorism.

More of the same ….

The big news of course was the ninth circuit court ruling in favor of the state of Washington and keeping the administration’s travel ban on hold. The decision by this circuit is not a surprise and you can count on further court appeal from the administration. But it also should make clear to them that they need to take the time to do things right. This order was rushed and not done to the standard it should have been.
If it gets to the Supreme Court how will they rule? It could very well be a 4-4 vote with the open seat. In that case the circuit decision will hold.

Otherwise another day and more of the same. Someone does something he doesn’t like or approve and Trump goes after them. The left attacks everyone and everything associated with the administration. The far left continues it’s tirade and protests.  Let’s take some examples, as we note the markets heard the words “tax cut” and drove to new highs. Is the street out of touch with the protesters or is it the other way?

It began with Senator Blumenthal telling the press that Supreme Court nominee Gorsuch told him that “he found attacks on the judiciary by the president to be disheartening and demoralizing”. We think Gorsuch did say it, and is right. It won’t help him get votes from Democrats like Blumenthal who clearly said as much.

Trump blasted Blumenthal and said he mischaracterized the quote. He didn’t. But blasting Blumenthal as a liar was fine with us. The Senator lied for years that he served in Viet Nam, when he did not. We call that stolen valor and is never accepted or forgiven.

Then we read Senator Chuck Schumer’s comments on the travesty of the AG hearings. “When Jeff Sessions was passed, it turned my stomach. I don’t have anything against him personally….” It’s the policies that Senator Sessions supports he is against. Senator there are many who were against the policies of Holder and Lynch but they got senate approval right? Let’s get on with the business of government. Approve the cabinet already.

In the first twenty days of the Trump administration we have seen Schumer and team fight every word, act and nominee. What do they have to show for it? Absolutely nothing. Just a more divided country and upheaval to support the media desire for anti administration sensationalism.  Remember it was President Obama who said “elections have consequences”. One of them is policy change. Stop wasting time and money.

Why are they doing it? They are appealing to their most vocal and left base and are trying to appease them. After nine Democratic senators came out against a Gorsuch filibuster, liberal filmmaker Michael Moore pledged to recruit, fund and support a primary against every single Democratic senator who refused to support the filibuster. We don’t have statesmen and leaders anymore we have sheep seeking media time. I have told the story of leadership before but will again here.
It has been said there are two types of leaders. One looks out the window, sees a crowd and says, “find out where they are going, I need to lead them”. The second says “follow me, this is where we are going”.
You decide what your representative is and what you see on TV.

Divided Government….

So late last night after another 24 hour stall Jeff Sessions got approved as Attorney General. We’ve said it before, all (with one possible exception), are getting approved. The fact that the nation is witnessing this beat down of character is shameful. Let’s hope the leaders pay a price.
As for Mitch O’Connell his actions against Senator Warren was just as dumb. The Democrats were going to speak for 24 hours and spout hate no matter what. Why give her such publicity? Why raise her hero status to the radical left? More people heard about the letter she was reading than would have ever have heard it before his actions. It was a smear, yes; but why give the smear airtime?

It’s very clear that a divided government and nation are here to stay for the foreseeable future. Everything will be a battle. So gear up for the 2018 election fight. Senate, House, and Governor seats will be the key.
– In the senate there will 33 seats up. 23 are currently Democratic held.
– 2 are independents who sit with the Democrats.
– All 435 House seats are up.
– 38 governorships are up and 27 are held by Republicans.
An off year (non presidential) usually favors the out of office party. The right needs to begin working now to register and plan on getting out the vote to assure they gain ground.
Barring that, the two years will see a government drawn to a halt.

Now here’s an example on the knowledge of the voter. A Morning Consult poll released yesterday showed this:
” In the survey, 35 percent of respondents said either they thought Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act were different policies (17 percent) or didn’t know if they were the same or different (18 percent)”.
Think about that. Over one third of the voters didn’t know that on an issue some saw as the most vital one.
Now add this from the survey: “This confusion was more pronounced among people 18 to 29 and those who earn less than $50,000 — two groups that could be significantly affected by repeal”.

Kind of amazing right? Here’s one more quote: “Among Republicans, a higher percentage (72 percent) said they knew Obamacare and the A.C.A. were the same…”.
Here’s the link to the study if you want to read more. But that’s what people are up against trying to win votes.

As predicted here, the media has influenced the voting population. Now 51% are now against the travel ban and 46% support. A reversal.

Trump executive order: Gitmo will stay open. Now watch us add “guests”.

Four more stores dropped the Ivanka Trump line. What a shame. Intolerant left. What happened to their “if you don’t like it don’t do it, or watch it, or smoke it” position?

On that score did you hear or see Melania won a lawsuit against a Maryland Blogger who wrote she “worked as a prostitute”? The blogger issued a retraction, admitting it was a lie and paid a substantial sum.

The Media and The Administration …

Remember when we warned  about getting into a fight with people who have unlimited prink ink? The fight is underway between the administration and the media, and it appears to us the media is winning.

Outside of FoxNews and FoxBusiness the coverage is almost exclusively negative and beginning to impact public opinion. There is a constant drumbeat against administration policies. Any questionable word or tweet from the President or an administrative representative is highlighted and attacked. The President’s media rep (Sean Spricer) is treated with disdain and he does the same back. Without a sign of easing on either side this could be a permanent situation. We don’t think the administration can win here. The drumbeat against them is too large and widespread.

Is the coverage unfair? We think so, but look at what Democrats say. In a poll today only 6% say the media is negative on the administration. 49% say it is too easy. Republicans say the opposite with 79% saying coverage is biased. Once again the divide in the nation.

So only cabinet member number five (5) got approved yesterday, but not without much drama and grandstanding. The Democrats spoke on the senate floor for 24 straight hours to block a vote. Did they do it for any reason other than media coverage? The day/night long speaking was not going to change a single vote. Plus, what were they defending? It was the current school system that is failing poor and inner city students. DeVos is going to challenge the current system offering parents a charter school option. Will it work? Probably not. Unless parents get involved and discipline returned, nothing will help. But is more of the same the answer?

Now a loyal reader and strong Trump supporter did contact us with reservations on DeVos that we understand. The direct quote, “Out of all of Trump picks I’m disappointed with Betsy. I tuned in to her hearings on the particular day the questions pertained to IDEA, (the disability act), which is widely known in all public schools. She seemed totally unaware of the program or what they were asking about. Not a good sign for me”.
In truth If the Democrats weren’t opposing everyone and everything from Trump they might have won this one. As you know it took the first ever VP vote to approve a cabinet member. First ever!

There should be pressure on the senate to get the cabinet approved already. Let’s get on with governing. Enough is enough. Trump for his part must stop feeding the media things to beat him on. Yesterday it was “uncovered” terrorist attacks.

Trump’s job approval (+/-) in recent polls mostly negative.
Rasmussen +7, Gallup -10, IBD -6, CNN -9, CBS -8
Is the country going in the right direction? Per cent saying yes:
Rassmussen 46%, IBB 50%, Economist 35%, Reuters 30%

Did you see that a released Obama pardoned drug dealer was arrested for drug dealing again? He was back in business. What a shock. I’m sure the Gitmo releasees are behaving.

Did you know, the Seattle judge who temporarily banned the White House’s refugee travel ban plan acted after mistakenly claiming the federal government has not arrested jihadi migrants from the seven Muslim countries covered by the reform? He said no one was arrested from these countries. But the federal government has arrested and jailed at least 76 people since 2001 from the seven countries covered. Just the facts folks, just the facts.

Just Thinking …..

On Monday, as the nation focused on the Super Bowl, we were thinking that the road ahead for Trump and team is going to be a rough one.

His style and experience running his own business is what he brought to the White House. That say what you’re thinking out loud unfiltered style doesn’t work in the Oval Office. People are listening to all you say and not everyone is in line with your thinking.

We get he wants a relationship with Putin and Russia to fight common enemies like IsIs. But rather than saying “we can work together on common issues, while we disagree on others…, he tries to justify Putin. He did it in his Super Bowl interview with Fox to the point of moral equivalency to our leaders. We see his goal to try and build a bridge, but he used the wrong planks and that has consequences.

He can’t make a decision, like he did in business, and then implement it with government in the same manner. You have to understand the implications and impact on people. The example being the extreme vetting. He said “do it” without the pros explaining and doing all they must to get it done. Right idea, but wrong business like execution.

He needs to understand campaign words are not easily implemented in the Oval Office. Promising an Obamacare repeal and replace, with more choices and lower cost, is easy. Actually doing it, is not. We continue to say how can you insure 20-40 million people for free and keep costs down? It is going to take time, thought, effort, and work to create an alternative. Instead of campaign rhetoric he needs to let Obamacare run and assure the chaos it creates is tied back to it, while they plan it’s replacement.

His warnings to the world are like red lines that caused Obama his credibility when he failed to heed them. He is eye to eye with Iran and clear on his warnings. How is he going to get them as they defy him? Does he have  a plan? He warned Mexico’s President on their drug cartels. Great, but is he going to send troops across the border? There’s a difference between consultation and threats.

Bottom line is this. He is President and his words matter. He wants to be a President who keeps his word. He has to be far more careful on the words he uses, who he says them to and how loudly he does it.

And Week Three Begins …

It may seem longer but we start just week three of the Trump era today. Things have gone as expected, hoped, and feared.

We expected change to come. It has.
We expected action with the country divided in half.  We got that.
We expected Trump would continue spouting off via twitter and he has.
We expected his tweeting to enable him to control daily dialogue. It has.
We feared his tweeting would go over board and at times hurt him. It has.
We feared at times, his ego would get in the way of good intentions. It has.

The latest examples were his calling the judge who over turned the travel ban a “so called judge”. He gave the MSM all the fodder they needed. They were all over this yesterday on the Sunday news shows.
The other example was his reference on the ratings for The Apprentice.

We’ll say it again. Stop. Check your ego. Lead. Be the President.
On tweeting, it is a great way to get around the MSM, but someone needs to check each one before hitting the send button.

On the ban, here’s our suggestion. The liberals and media are against your move. The people are on your side. Take the issue to congress and ask for a vote tomorrow to support or not. You’ll win the vote. Let the liberal Democrats vote no and support unchecked boarders. Isolate them and the media.

Lots of noise still on the Gorsuch nomination. Drive it to a vote. I believe there are more than 60 votes for this capable and deserving individual. Enough Democrats will vote with the 52 Republicans for him because he is deserving. It is the next vote they better save their gun powder for. If you’re Schumer are you crazy enough to force the “nuclear option” now? All you would do is make it easier for the next one. They will make noise but support this one.

The argument that Gorsuch is payback for Republicans not considering Leland Gerland last year is nonsense. Remember the Republicans approved two Obama nominees  after his election. Gerland would have been the third and came up in February of an election year. Did you ever hear of the Biden rule? (Named after Senator Joe Biden).
It goes back to “Senator Joe Biden urging President George Bush not to nominate a Supreme Court Justice during the 1992 election, should a seat on the court become vacant”.
Add this.
The leader of the movement now is Chuck Schumer. Here’s where he stood with 16 months before the 2008 election.
“Sen. Chuck Schumer said in July 2007 that no George W. Bush nominee to the Supreme Court should be approved, except in extraordinary circumstances, 19 months before a new president was set to be inaugurated”.
Hypocrisy at its finest and an example of a system out of control. It’s enough to make you cry and see why “Drain The Swamp” was so popular.

A reminder, watch Iran. Both sides are painting themselves into corners and this is going to escalate. As we noted Iran was the one to challenge the administration. Trump and team fired back. Iran responded they are unafraid and ready to take the U.S. on. Something is going to happen.
By the way, it turns out it was the agreement that Obama and Kerry agreed to that allows Iran to test ballistic weapons. Yes, the same one where we gave them back all that money — in cash.

Onto to week three.
